The frequency axis in time-frequency plane of the CFRFT is r...A concise fractional Fourier transform (CFRFT) is proposed to detect the linear frequency-modulated (LFM) signal with low signal to noise ratio (SNR). The frequency axis in time-frequency plane of the CFRFT is rotated to get the spectrum of the signal in different an- gles using chirp multiplication and Fourier transform (FT). For LFM signal which distributes as a straight line in time-frequency plane, the CFRFT can gather the energy in the corresponding angle as a peak and improve the detection SNR, thus the LFM signal of low SNR can be de- tected. Meanwhile, the location of the peak value relates to the parameters of the LFM signal. Numerical simulations and experimental results show that, the proposed method can be used to efficiently detect the LFM signal masked by noise and to estimate the signal's parameters accurately. Compared with the conventional fractional Fourier transform (FRFT), the CFRFT reduces the transform complexity and improves the real-time detection performance of LFM signal.展开更多
A novel approach to extract edge features from wideband echo is proposed. The set of extracted features not only represents the echo waveform in a concise way, but also is sufficient and well suited for classification...A novel approach to extract edge features from wideband echo is proposed. The set of extracted features not only represents the echo waveform in a concise way, but also is sufficient and well suited for classification of non-stationary echo data from objects with different property.The feature extraction is derived from the Discrete Dyadic Wavlet Transform (DDWT) of the echo through the undecimated algorithm. The motivation we use the DDWT is that it is time-shift-invariant which is beneficial for localization of edge, and the wavelet coefficients at larger scale represent the main shape feature of echo, i.e. edge, and the noise and modulated high-frequency components are reduced with scale increased. Some experimental results using real data which contain 144 samples from 4 classes of lake bottoms with different sediments are provided. The results show that our approach is a prospective way to represent wideband echo for reliable recognition of nonstationary echo with great variability.展开更多

It is different from the...The application of wavelets is explored to solve acoustic radiation and scattering problems. A new wavelet approach is presented for solving two-dimensional and axisymmetric acoustic problems. It is different from the previous methods in which Galerkin formulation or wavelet matrix transform approach is used. The boundary quantities are expended in terms of a basis of the periodic, orthogonal wavelets on the interval. Using wavelet transform leads a highly sparse matrix system. It can avoid an additional integration in Galerkin formulation, which may be very computationally expensive. The techniques of the singular integrals in two-dimensional and axisymmetric wavelet formulation are proposed. The new method can solve the boundary value problems with Dirichlet, Neumann and mixed conditions and treat axisymmetric bodies with arbitrary boundary conditions. It can be suitable for the solution at large wave numbers. A series of numerical examples are given. The comparisons of the results from new approach with those from boundary element method and analytical solutions demonstrate that the new techique has a fast convergence and high accuracy.展开更多
