The Governance of China features the application of metaphors with Chinese characteristics.Metaphor is very persuasive. It uses rational and conscious conceptual basis with emotional and metaphoric meaning to describe facts and affect people’s perception.Through statistical analysis of Xi Jinping’s metaphorical expression and its resonance of the source domain, the current research focuses on the identification of conceptual metaphors in TGOC and explores its translation strategies. It is found that the ROSD of JOURNEY,BUILDING and WAR metaphors are among the highest and significant.Four networks have been identified to translate the culture-specific metaphors from Chinese into English, while the Single-Scopes dominate an overwhelming majority.Single-Scopes and Double-Scopes are the main cognitive strategies for the C-E translation. 展开更多

Emotion has always played an important role in human life.Owing to its fuzzy and abstract features, people often express it metaphorically.Conceptual Blending theory can clearly show the meaning construction and thinking process between the author of original text and the translator of target text.Emotion metaphors are abundant in Tang Xiangxing, especially emotion metaphor for“anger”.So,the study will reveal the dynamic construction mechanism and translation strategy of emotion metaphor for“anger”with the help of conceptual blending theory,in order to provide some reference for metaphor translation in literary work and also be beneficial to introduce the excellent Chinese culture. 展开更多

This article is devoted to the study of one of the most important questions of philology—translation which throughout its centuries-long and rich history has been considered a sphere of philological activity of utmost significance providing an exceptional possibility for recoding and bringing philological and cultural traditions within the reach of people at large.Through the application of a variety of methods(linguo-stylistic,linguo-poetic,and comparative),the author attempts to study the process of translation, the clash of difficulties inevitably arising in that process, and offers solutions that will help recreate the vitality of the original and the uniqueness of linguistic thinking.Emphasis on the importance of the consideration of intra-and inter-linguistic correlations of language units in the original work of literature drives the author to the conclusion that the most reliable approach to literary translation is to be guided by the principle of“metaphoric displacement”. 展开更多

Cognitive Metaphor Theory(CMT), originally formulated by Lakoff and Johnson in 1980, rejects the traditional view of metaphor being a rhetorical phenomenon, and redefines it as a cognitive instrument by which humans perceive, categorize, and conceptualize the world. The cognitive method of metaphor studies offers an innovative research perspective on metaphor translation, which is more a process of reproducing in the target language the mapping relations of the original metaphor than a simple transplantation of the concept on the linguistic level.Metaphor is one of the most common figures of speech in children's literature, but its translation is not as effortless as it might be, for translators have to take into account not only factors such as linguistic, cultural, and social differences, but also children's limited linguistic level and cognitive abilities, which altogether pose a formidable challenge to translators. This paper attempts to construct a cognitive metaphor translation model by exploring the cognitive process that translators go through when dealing with metaphor from the perspective of CMT.The cognitive metaphor translation process is specified as including three steps: metaphor comprehension, metaphor adjustment, and metaphor reconstruction.By analyzing metaphor examples extracted from two Chinese versions of The Wind in the Willows, a masterpiece of Kenneth Grahame in children's literature of Britain, this article summarizes metaphor translation techniques in children's literature. 展开更多
