A new time-resolved shifted dual transmission grating spectrometer (SDTGS) is designed and fabricated in this work. This SDTGS uses a new shifted dual transmission grating (SDTG) as its dispersive component, which has two sub transmission gratings with different line densities, of 2000 lines/mm and 5000 lines/mm. The axes of the two sub transmission gratings in SDTG are horizontally and vertically shifted a certain distance to measure a broad range of 0.1-5 keV time-resolved X-ray spectra. The SDTG has been calibrated with a soft X-ray beam of the synchrotron radiation facility and its diffraction efficiency is also measured. The designed SDTGS can take full use of the space on a record panel and improve the precision for measuring spatial and temporal spectrum simultaneously. It will be a promising application for accurate diagnosis of the soft X-ray spectrum in inertial confinement fusion. 展开更多

We report a wavelength-tunable multi-point pump scheme of the semiconductor disk lasers(SDLs).By designing an external cavity of SDL with an intra-cavity transmission grating,multiple pump gain regions share the same resonator.The effect of the intra-cavity grating on the output laser power,wavelength,and beam quality was investigated.The emission wavelength could be tuned over a bandwidth of~18 nm.With multi-point pumping,we achieve the laser output power with almost no loss,and further improvement is limited by the thermal effect.The changes in the beam are due to the mode selectivity by the intra-cavity grating. 展开更多

A theoretical model of the fiber Bragg grating Fabry–Perot(FBG-FP) transmission spectrum considering loss of FBG and intra-cavity fiber is presented. Several types of FBG-FPs are inscribed experimentally, and their spectra are measured.The results confirm that weak intra-cavity loss is enhanced at the resonance transmission peak, that is, loss of transmission peaks is observably larger than other wavelengths. For FBG-FPs with multi resonance peaks, when the resonance peak wavelength is closer to the Bragg wavelength, the more significant loss effect of resonance transmission peak is exhibited.The measured spectra are fitted with the presented theoretical model. The fitted coefficient of determinations are near 1,which proves the validity of the theoretical model. This study can be applied to measure FBG loss more accurately, without a reference light. It can play an important role in FBG and FBG-FP writing process optimization and application parameter optimization. 展开更多

We investigate both experimentally and numerically a complex structure, where 'face-to-face' Helmholtz resonance cavities (HRCs) are introduced to construct a one-dimensional acoustic grating. In this system, pairs of HRCs can intensely couple with each other in two forms: a bonding state and an anti-bonding state, analogous to the character of hydrogen molecule with two atoms due to the interference of wave functions of sound among the acoustic local-resonating structures. The bonding state is a 'bright' state that interferes with the Fabry-Pbrot resonance mode, thereby causing this state to break up into two modes as the splitting of the extraordinary acoustic transmission peak. On the contrary, the anti-bonding state is a 'dark' state in which the resonance mode remains entirely localized within the HRCs, and has no contribution to the acoustic transmission. 展开更多

Spectral Demodulation System Based on Two Transmission Volume Bragg Gratings

In this paper,a fiber grating demodulation system based on two transmission volume Bragg gratings(VBGs)was proposed.In order to resolve the problem that the spectral resolution of the present fiber grating demodulation system is not high enough,the two transmission VBGs were applied to improve the spectral resolution and reduce the volume of the spectrometer.The diffraction characteristics of the transmission VBGs were analyzed,and the optical path of the two transmission VBGs demodulation system was designed based on the diffraction characteristics.The grating constant,lens parameters,and aberration correction of the system were analyzed and calculated.The calculation showed that the theoretical wavelength range of the demodulation system was from 1525 nm to 1565 nm and the theoretical optical resolution was 60 pm when the grating constant was 0.9168,the angle between two transmission VBGs was 89°,the focal length of the collimator was 60 mm,and the focal length of the imaging lens was 131.5 mm.The aberration of the system was well corrected by using a lens as the collimator and a reflector as the imaging lens.The system principle prototype was assembled and calibrated,and its performances were experimentally investigated.The results showed that the spectrometer worked stably,with a wavelength range from 1525 nm to 1565 nm,an optical wavelength resolution of 65.3 pm,and a high demodulation speed of 10 kHz. 展开更多
