The new model, proposed as conditional cell transmission model (CCTM) has been developed with two improvements. First, cell transmission model (CTM) is expanded for two-way arterials by taking account of all diverging and merging activities at intersections. Second, a conditional cell is added to simulate periodic spillback and blockages at an intersection. The results of experiments for a multilane, two-way, three-signal sample network demonstrate that CCTM can accommodate various traffic demands and accurate representation of blockages at intersections. The delay of left turns is underestimated by 40 % in moderate conditions and by 58% in oversamrated condition when using the CTM rather than CCTM. Finally, the consistency between HCS 2000 and CCTM shows that CCTM is a reliable methodology of modeling traffic flow in oversaturated condition.展开更多

To test the performance of the CCTM, a series of experiments for sensitivity analysis were designed and performed for a multilane, two-way, three-signal sample network. Experiment 1 shows that the model is performed in a logical and expected manner with variations in traffic demand with time and direction. Experiment 2 shows when the possibility of the occurrence of a useful gap increases to 60% and 100%, the delays in left rams decrease by 5% and 15%, respectively. In Experiment 3, comparing the possibility of a conditional cell of 0 with 100%, delay of left turn and delay of the entire network were underestimated by 58% and 11%, respectively. Hence, sensitivity analysis demonstrates that by reflecting local drivers' behaviors properly, the CCTM provides an accurate representation of traffic flow in simulating oversaturated traffic conditions.展开更多

According to the special structure of the problem, a novel algorithm called OOSCPMR (the optimal offine scheduling with non-ideal circuit power for multi-receivers) is proposed, and the optimal offine solutions to optimize the energy- efficient transmission policy are found. The packets to be transmitted can be divided into two types where one type of packet is determined to be transmitted using the enrgy- efficient tansmission time, and the other type of packet is determined by the ID moveright algorithm. Finally, an energy-efficient online schedule is developed based on te proposed OOSCPMR algoriAm. In this paper, we consider a multi-antenna cellular IoT for state update where a base station(BS) collects information from randomly distributed IoT nodes through time-varying channel.Specifically, multiple IoT nodes are allowed to transmit their state update simultaneously in a spatial multiplex manner. Inspired by age of information(AoI),we introduce a novel concept of age of transmission(AoT) for the sceneries in which BS cannot obtain the generation time of the packets waiting to be transmitted. The deadline-constrained AoT-optimal scheduling problem is formulated as a restless multi-armed bandit(RMAB) problem. Firstly, we prove the indexability of the scheduling problem and derive the closed-form of the Whittle index. Then, the interference graph and complementary graph are constructed to illustrate the interference between two nodes. The complete subgraphs are detected in the complementary graph to avoid inter-node interference. Next, an AoT-optimal scheduling strategy based on the Whittle index and complete subgraph detection is proposed. Finally, numerous simulations are conducted to verify the performance of the proposed strategy.展开更多

Recombinant human interleukin 1 beta(IL-1β) was used as positive control, and culture medium only as negative control. The measurement of CCL20 production in the supernatants of HEC-1A cells and of lactoferrin in seminal plasma was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay techniques. A fractionation of seminal plasma proteins was performed by ion exchange chromatography on a pool of seminal plasma specimens from HIV- subjects. Each fraction was tested for its ability to stimulate the production of CCL20 by HEC-1A cells and for its lactoferrin concentration. The HIV viral load in seminal plasma samples from HIV+ patients was measured using the HIV-Monitor kit(Roche Diagnostic Systems, Branchburg, NJ, United States).RESULTS: The positive control IL-1β was responsible for an increase of 11.36 ± 3.36 times in the production of CCL20. Stimulation of HEC-1A cells was performed in 34 seminal plasma samples(22 from HIV+ subjects and 12 from HIV- subjects). The mean production of CCL20 by HEC-1A in presence of seminal plasma from HIV- and HIV+ subjects was respectively 5.38 ± 0.91 and 7.57 ± 3.26 times higher than that obtained with the untreated cells(P < 0.05 between the two groups). Using the same 34 specimens of seminal plasma, no correlation was observed between the concentration of total proteins in seminal plasma and their ability to stimulate the secretion of CCL20 by HEC-1 cells. In contrast, the ability to produce CCL20 by HEC-1A cells correlated to the concentration of lactoferrin in the seminal plasma samples(r coefficient = 0.56; CI: 0.26-0.76; P < 0.001). After fractionation by ion exchange chromatography, the seminal plasma fractions exhibiting the highest concentrations of lactoferrin were responsible for the greatest stimulation of CCL20 production by HEC-1A cells(r coefficient = 0.89; CI: 0.78-0.95; P <0.0001). CONCLUSION: Lactoferrin present in seminal plasma correlated with an increased production of CCL20 by HEC-1A cells and therefore could facilitate HIV entry through the genital mucosa.展开更多

The double transmission peaks are formed by the destructive interference of two bright-modes and a quasi-dark mode. The two bright-modes are respectively excited by the L-shaped structure and CW. The unit structure itself performs a quasi-dark mode. The group refractive indexes are over 20 in the first transmission peak, and 117 in the second transmission peak, thus offering potential applications in slow light devices. Finally, all the above characteristics are achieved in just one simple unit cell.展开更多

To reduce these effects, the World Health Organization is urging countries, especially those in Africa, to increase public awareness of this disease. This study accessed whether public servants in Tamale, Ghana possess adequate knowledge and positive attitude towards SCD. Method: A total of 320 public servants within the Tamale Metropolis were invited to complete a questionnaire in a cross-sectional study. Data were analyzed using GraphPad 5.01. Association between different variables was tested. Results: The media was the main source of information for a majority of the 94.2% of respondents who had ever heard of SCD. Knowledge of respondents on transmission and testing of SCD was above 70% but they recorded less than 40% in SCD’s incurability, prevalence, effect of SCD on life span and pregnancy. The mean knowledge score of respondents was (11.1 ± 5.11)/22 or 50.7%. Only about a quarter knew their sickling status or that of their spouses before marriage or first child. Although 78.0% of respondents would call off marriages if they became aware of genetic incompatibility, the overall mean attitude, (2.857 ± 1.97)/ 7.0% or 40.8% was poor. There was a positive and significant correlation between the knowledge of respondents and their attitude towards SCD (r = 0.494, p < 0.0001) hence respondents working in the health sector and those with tertiary level education had better attitudes towards SCD. Conclusion: Public servants in Ghana have moderate knowledge of SCD but their attitude towards the disease was poor. Public servants least considered genetic incompatibility before entering conjugal relationships. This poor attitude means the campaign for the reduction of sickle cell gene transmission must be intensified. Governments need to increase their investment on educational campaigns aimed at changing attitude of persons through provision of more knowledge about SCD.展开更多

Meningeal lymphatic vessels not only play a key role in the drainage of brain metabolites but also contribute to antigen delivery and immune cell activation. The advent of novel genomic technologies has enabled rapid progress in the characterization of myeloid and lymphoid cells and their interactions with meningeal lymphatic vessels within the central nervous system. In this review, we provide an overview of the multifaceted roles of meningeal lymphatic vessels within the context of the central nervous system immune network, highlighting recent discoveries on the immunological niche provided by meningeal lymphatic vessels. Furthermore, we delve into the mechanisms of crosstalk between meningeal lymphatic vessels and immune cells in the central nervous system under both homeostatic conditions and neurodegenerative diseases, discussing how these interactions shape the pathological outcomes. Regulation of meningeal lymphatic vessel function and structure can influence lymphatic drainage, cerebrospinal fluid-borne immune modulators, and immune cell populations in aging and neurodegenerative disorders, thereby playing a key role in shaping meningeal and brain parenchyma immunity.展开更多

Finally, the consistency between HCS 2000 and CCTM shows that CCTM is a reliable methodology of modeling traffic flow in oversaturated condition.

文摘A novel conditional cell transmission model (CCTM) is a potential simulation tool because it accommodates all traffic conditions from light condition to oversaturated condition. Hence, sensitivity analysis demonstrates that by reflecting local drivers' behaviors properly, the CCTM provides an accurate representation of traffic flow in simulating oversaturated traffic conditions.
文摘Considerable research has considered the design of low-power and high-speed devices.Designing integrated circuits with low-power consumption is an important issue due to the rapid growth of high-speed devices.Embedded static random-access memory(SRAM)units are necessary components in fast mobile computing.Traditional SRAM cells are more energyconsuming and with lower performances. The major constraints in SRAM cells are their reliability and low power. The objectives of the proposed method are to provide a high read stability, low energy consumption, and better writing abilities.A transmission gate-based multi-threshold single-ended Schmitt trigger(ST)9T SRAM cell in a bit-interleaving structure without a write-back scheme is proposed.Herein,an ST inverter with a single bit-line design is used to attain the high read stability.A negative assist technique is applied to alter the trip voltage of the single-ended ST inverter. The multithreshold complementary metal oxide semiconductor(MTCMOS)technique is adopted to reduce the leakage power in the proposed single-ended TGST 9T SRAM cell. The proposed system uses a combination of standard and ST inverters, which results in a large read stability.Compared with the previous ST 9T,ST 11T,11T,10T,and 7T SRAM cells, the proposed cell is implemented in Cadence Virtuoso ADE with 45-nm CMOS technology and consumes 35.80%,42.09%,31.60%,12.54%,and 31.60%less energy for read operations and 73.59%,93.95%,92.76%,89.23%,and 85.78%less energy for write operations, respectively.

文摘The Device-to-Device(D2D)communication underlaying cellular networks is considered in this study. The D2D transmitter in the D2D mode can directly transmit messages to a receiver, but it may interfere with the transmission of another cellular user who shares the same uplink channel. The transmitter can also operate in a cellular mode in which no interference to another cellular user occurs. We propose a mode selection scheme that aims to minimize the transmission power of the D2D transmitter subject to constraints on the minimum required data rate and maximum interference to other cellular users. The proposed scheme is based on bounds for transmission power and is less complex than the optimal scheme.Furthermore,it requires only a few statistics and does not need a fading channel distribution. The performance of the scheme is close to optimum when the number of Base Station(BS)antennas is large, and the mean absolute deviation of the fading terms is small. We verify this with numerical results of the Rician and Rayleigh fading channels by assuming that the BS antennas are independent. The simulation results for the two correlated BS antennas are presented herein.

文摘The downlink energy-efficient transmission schedule with non-ideal circuit power over Wreless networks involving a single transmitter and multiple receivers was investigated. Simulation results show that the optima offline transmission schedule provides te lower bound performance for the online tansmission schedule. The proposed optimal offline and online policy is more energy efficient than the existing schemes tat assume ideal circuit power.

文摘Timely information updates are critical for real-time monitoring and control applications in the Internet of Things(IoT). Finally, numerous simulations are conducted to verify the performance of the proposed strategy.

文摘AIM: To study the effect of seminal plasma on Chemokine(C-C motif) ligand 20(CCL20) production by epithelial cells and its relationship with lactoferrin.METHODS: HEC-1A cells, a cell line derived from a monostratified endocervical epithelium, were incubated with samples of seminal plasma(diluted 1:10 in culture medium) recovered from human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) seronegative(HIV-) or HIV seropositive(HIV+) subjects. CONCLUSION: Lactoferrin present in seminal plasma correlated with an increased production of CCL20 by HEC-1A cells and therefore could facilitate HIV entry through the genital mucosa.

文摘In this paper, we investigate a metamaterial formed by a planar array of a metallic L-shaped structure and a cut wire(CW), which behaves as an analogue of the electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT). Finally, all the above characteristics are achieved in just one simple unit cell.
文摘Nomadic Vehicular Cloud(NVC)is envisaged in this work. The predo-minant aspects of NVC is,it moves along with the vehicle that initiates it and functions only with the resources of moving vehicles on the heavy traffic road without relying on any of the static infrastructure and NVC decides the initiation time of container migration using cell transmission model(CTM).Containers are used in the place of Virtual Machines(VM),as containers’features are very apt to NVC’s dynamic environment. The specifications of 5G NR V2X PC5 interface are applied to NVC,for the feature of not relying on the network coverage.Nowa-days,the peak traffic on the road and the bottlenecks due to it are inevitable, which are seen here as the benefits for VC in terms of resource availability and residual in-network time. The speed range of high-end vehicles poses the issue of dis-connectivity among VC participants, that results the container migration failure. As the entire VC participants are on the move,to maintain proximity of the containers hosted by them, estimating their movements plays a vital role.To infer the vehicle movements on the road stretch and initiate the container migration prior enough to avoid the migration failure due to vehicles dynamicity, this paper proposes to apply the CTM to the container based and 5G NR V2X enabled NVC.The simulation results show that there is a significant increase in the success rate of vehicular cloud in terms of successful container migrations.

文摘Introduction: Sickle cell disease (SCD) is exerting enormous public health and economic burden on many countries. Governments need to increase their investment on educational campaigns aimed at changing attitude of persons through provision of more knowledge about SCD.

文摘Spinal cord injury is considered one of the most difficult injuries to repair and has one of the worst prognoses for injuries to the nervous system.Following surgery, the poor regenerative capacity of nerve cells and the generation of new scars can make it very difficult for the impaired nervous system to restore its neural functionality.Traditional treatments can only alleviate secondary injuries but cannot fundamentally repair the spinal cord.Consequently, there is a critical need to develop new treatments to promote functional repair after spinal cord injury.Over recent years, there have been seve ral developments in the use of stem cell therapy for the treatment of spinal cord injury.Alongside significant developments in the field of tissue engineering,three-dimensional bioprinting technology has become a hot research topic due to its ability to accurately print complex structures. This led to the loading of three-dimensional bioprinting scaffolds which provided precise cell localization. These three-dimensional bioprinting scaffolds co uld repair damaged neural circuits and had the potential to repair the damaged spinal cord.In this review,we discuss the mechanisms underlying simple stem cell therapy, the application of different types of stem cells for the treatment of spinal cord injury, and the different manufa cturing methods for three-dimensional bioprinting scaffolds. In particular,we focus on the development of three-dimensional bioprinting scaffolds for the treatment of spinal cord injury.

文摘Meningeal lymphatic vessels form a relationship between the nervous system and periphery, which is relevant in both health and disease. Regulation of meningeal lymphatic vessel function and structure can influence lymphatic drainage, cerebrospinal fluid-borne immune modulators, and immune cell populations in aging and neurodegenerative disorders, thereby playing a key role in shaping meningeal and brain parenchyma immunity.
