Firstly, we gave some sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence, the local and global stability of equilibria as well as non-existence of limit cycles. By using the cobweb model, some cases about the existence of interior equilibrium are also illustrated with numerical outcomes. These existence and stability conclusions of interior equilibrium are also suitable in corresponding homogeneous reaction-diffusion system subject to the Neumann boundary conditions. Secondly, we theoretically deduced that our system has saddle-node bifurcation, transcritical bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation under certain conditions. Finally, for the Hopf bifurcation, we choose d as the bifurcation parameter and presented some numerical simulations to verify feasibility and effectiveness of the theoretical derivation corresponding to the existence of yk, respectively. The Hopf bifurcations are supercritical and limit cycles generated by the critical points are stable.展开更多

Some new sufficient conditions were analytically established to ensure that this system has globally asymptotically stable equilibria and Hopf bifurcation surrounding interior equilibrium. In the analysis of Hopf bifurcation, based on the phenomenon of Turing instability and well-done conditions, the system undergoes a Hopf bifurcation and an example incorporating with numerical simulations to support the existence of Hopf bifurcation is presented. We also derived a useful algorithm for determining direction of Hopf bifurcation and stability of bifurcating periodic solutions correspond to j ≠0 and j = 0, respectively. It is a single copy gene with a 4476 bp long ORF without intron. The deduced amino acid sequence shows strong homology to eukaryotic DNA Top 2. However, some distortions were found, such as six insertions in the ATPase domain and the central domain, a -100 aa longer central domain; a ~200 aa shorter C-terminal domain containing rich charged residues. These features revealed by comparing with Top 2 of the host, human, might be helpful in exploiting drug selectivity for antigiardial therapy. Phylogenetic analysis of eukaryotic enzymes showed that kinetoplastids, plants, fungi, and animals were monophyletic groups, and the animal and fungi lineages shared a more recent common ancestor than either did with the plant lineage; microsporidia grouped with fungi. However, unlike many previous phylogenetic analyses, the ''amitochondriate'' G. lamblia was not the earliest branch but diverged after mitochondriate kinetoplastids in our trees. Both the finding of typical eukaryotic type IIA topoisomerase and the phylogenetic analysis suggest G, lamblia is not possibly as primitive as was regarded before and might diverge after the acquisition of mitochondria. This is consistent with the recent discovery of mitochondrial remnant organelles in G. lamblia.展开更多

We consider this issue and quantify matters in a manner that differs a bit from what is commonly done. In particular, we define the probability distribution function for Type II errors. We then explore some interesting properties that we have not seen mentioned elsewhere for this probability distribution function. Finally, we discuss several Maple procedures that can be used to perform various calculations using the distribution.展开更多

The growth temperature and group-V soaking times were optimized with respect to interface and transport quality. Novel strain compensation schemes with insertion of InSb layers were proposed and tested to be efficient to tune the overall strain between tensile and compressive without degradation of interface and optical quality. The effect of the proposed methods is modeled by analytic functions.? Band structure calculations were also carried out for the proposed T2SL structures to assist optimizing sample designs. Single pixel photodiodes with a low dark current were demonstrated.展开更多

CA plays a crucial role in CO2 transport, acid-base balance, and in linking local acidosis to O2 unloading from hemoglobin and also facilitates lactate shuttling across the monocarboxylate transporters (MCT). The study aimed to investigate the influence of hyperglycemia on erythrocyte carbonic anhydrase activity and lactic acid in type II diabetic patients. Method: Red blood cell carbonic anhydrase activity was determined in washed lysed-hemolysate by the action of the enzyme on the substrate p-nitrophenyl acetate. The absorbance of released p-nitrophenol was recorded at 345 nm. Glycated Hemoglobin was determined by ion exchange method (Spectrum Diagnostic Kit). Blood glucose, lactate, cholesterol and triglyceride were determined using Accutrend GCT meter (Roche, Germany) with cobias® test strips. Results: The present study showed that hyperglycemia significantly (p < 0.05) increased both erythrocyte carbonic anhydrase activity and blood lactate level in type II diabetic patients. Conclusion: We may conclude that hyperglycemia may be responsible for the increased activity of carbonic anhydrase activity and blood lactate concentration.展开更多

Additionally, sleep disorders have been reported to aggravate diabetes due to decreased glucose metabolism and elevated cortisol levels as well as it can increase the risk for the development of diabetes. Objectives: To assess the sleep quality and its determinants and impact on glycemic control of type II diabetic patients. Methods: A cross sectional study was adopted among a representative sample of patients diagnosed with type II Diabetes seen in Prince Mansour Military Hospital Diabetic Center in Taif throughout the study period (March-July 2021). A self-administered questionnaire was utilized in the present study including 5 main parts: demographic data of the patients, medical and social history, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to assess the subjective sleep quality, weight and height measurements and the most recent glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) level. Results: The study included 270 type II diabetic patients out of a targeted 282 with a response rate of 95.7%. Most of them aged either between 51 and 60 years (34.8%) or over 60 years (42%). Females represent 63% of them. Majority of patients (87.8%) had HbA1c ≥ 7%, indicating uncontrolled blood glucose levels. Overall, poor sleep quality, based on PSQI was observed among 41.1% of type II diabetic patients. Results of multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that compared to patients whose income was lower than 5000 SR/month, those with income of 50,001 - 1000 and >15,000 SR/month were at lower significant risk for having poor sleep (Adjusted odds ratio “AOR” = 0.44, 95% confidence interval “CI” = 0.22 - 0.86, p = 0.016 and AOR = 0.21, 95% CI = 0.06 - 0.77, p = 0.019;respectively). Opposed to diabetic patients with a duration of less than one year of DM, those with a duration exceeding 10 years were at almost 6-folds higher risk for poor sleep quality (AOR = 6.39, 95% CI = 1.12 - 36.43, p = 0.037). Patients with a history of social stressors were at a higher significant risk for poor sleep quality compared to those without such a history (AOR = 4.99, 95% CI = 1.71 - 14.67, p = 0.003). Conclusion: A considerable proportion of type II diabetic patients attending the diabetic center, Prince Manasour Military hospital in Taif, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed poor sleep quality. However, there was no association between glycemic control level and poor sleep quality.展开更多

Methods: A total of 120 diabetes type-Ⅱ patients including 70 inpatients and 50 outpatients were randomly divided into simple acupuncture group (n=18), acupuncture plus medication group (n = 52) and simple medi cation group (n=50). Acupoints used were Pishu (BL 20). Yishu, Shenshu (BL 23), Qihai (CV 6), Quchi (LI 11), Neiguan (PC 6). Zusanli (ST 36). Sanyinjiao (SP 6). etc. and medicines used were Glipizide (2.5-5 mg, t. i. d.), Dimethyldiguanide hydrochloride (0.25-0.5 g, t. i. d.), etc.. Serum GL, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and inter lukin(IL)-6 contents were determined with radioimmunoassay, and blood sugar was also detected with routine method. Results: After treatment, serum GL, TNF-α and IL-6 contents declined significantly in comparison with pre-treatment (P <0. 05, 0. 01), and the effect of acupuncture plus medication group is superior to those of simple acpuncture or medication groups, particularly in lowering serum GL (P <0.01). Conclusion: The regulative action of acupuncture on blood GL and immuno-cytokine levels maybe contribute to its functions in stabilizing blood sugar and preventing complications.展开更多

文摘The genes encoding type II DNA topoisomerases were investigated in Giardia lamblia genome, and a type IIA gene,GlTop 2 was identified. This is consistent with the recent discovery of mitochondrial remnant organelles in G. lamblia.
文摘When a statistical test of hypothesis for a population mean is performed, we are faced with the possibility of committing a Type II error by not rejecting the null hypothesis when in fact the population mean has changed. We consider this issue and quantify matters in a manner that differs a bit from what is commonly done. In particular, we define the probability distribution function for Type II errors. We then explore some interesting properties that we have not seen mentioned elsewhere for this probability distribution function. Finally, we discuss several Maple procedures that can be used to perform various calculations using the distribution.
文摘Objective:T o analyze the effect of adjuvant noninvasive positive pressure ventilation on blood gas parameters, cardiac function and inflammatory state in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and type II respiratory failure. Methods:90 patients with COPD and type II respiratory failure were randomly divided into observation group and control group (n=45). Control group received conventional therapy, observation group received conventional therapy+adjuvant noninvasive positive pressure ventilation, and differences in blood gas parameters, cardiac function, inflammatory state, etc., were compared between two groups of patients 2 weeks after treatment. Results:Arterial blood gas parameters pH and alveolar-arterial partial pressure of oxygen [P(A-a)O2] levels of observation group were higher than those of control group while, potassium ion (K+), chloride ion (Cl-) and carbon dioxide combining power (CO2CP) levels were lower than those of control group 2 weeks after treatment;echocardiography parameters Doppler-derived tricuspid lateral annular systolic velocity (DTIS) and pulmonary arterial velocity (PAV) levels were lower than those of control group (P<0.05) while pulmonary artery accelerating time (PAACT), left ventricular end-diastolic dimension (LVDd) and right atrioventricular tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) levels were higher than those of control group (P<0.05);serum cardiac function indexes adiponectin (APN), Copeptin, N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), cystatin C (CysC), growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15) and heart type fatty acid binding protein (H-FABP) content were lower than those of control group (P<0.05);serum inflammatory factors hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-1β(IL-1β), IL-8, IL-10, and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) content were lower than those of control group (P<0.05). Conclusions:Adjuvant noninvasive positive pressure ventilation can optimize the blood gas parameters, cardiac function and inflammatory state in patients with COPD and type II respiratory failure, and it is of positive significance in improving the overall treatment outcome.
文摘InAs/GaSb type-II superlattce (T2SL) photodetector structures at the MWIR regime were grown by molecular beam epitaxy. Single pixel photodiodes with a low dark current were demonstrated.

文摘Vascular remodeling is an adaptive response to various stimuli, including mechanical forces, inflammatory cy tokines and hormones. In the present study,we investigated the role of angiotensinII type 1 receptor(ATIR)and calcium channel in carotid artery remodeling in response to increased biomechanical forces by using the transverse aortic constriction(TAC)rat model.TAC was induced on ten week-old male Sprague Dawley rats and these models were treated with ATIR blocker olmesartan(1 mg/kg/day)or/and calcium channel blocker(CCB)amlodipine(0.5 mgkgday)for 14 days. After the treatment, the right common carotid artery proximal to the band(RCCA-B)was collected for further assay. Results showed that olmesartan, but not amlodipine, significantly prevented TAC-induced adventitial hyperplasia.Similarly, olmesartan, but not amlodipine, significantly prevented vascular inflammation,as indicated by increased tumor necrosis factor a(TNF-a)and increased p65 phosphorylation,an indicator of nuclear factor K-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells(NFkB)activation in RCCA-B.In contrast, both olmesartan and amlodipine reversed the decreased expression of endothelial nitric oxidase synthase(eNOS)and improved endothelium-dependent vasodilation, whereas combination of olmesartan and amlodipine showed no further synergistic protective effects. These results suggest that AT1R was involved in vascular remodeling and inflammation in response to pressure overload, whereas ATIR and subsequent calcium channel were involved in endothelial dysfunction.
文摘Background: Carbonic anhydrase (CA) is a ubiquitous enzyme catalyzing the reversible hydration of CO2 to and H+. Conclusion: We may conclude that hyperglycemia may be responsible for the increased activity of carbonic anhydrase activity and blood lactate concentration.
文摘Background: Experimental and observational studies have indicated that poor sleep quantity and quality are associated with an increased risk of chronic diseases including insulin resistance. However, there was no association between glycemic control level and poor sleep quality.
文摘Objective: To study the effect of acupuncture on serum glucagon (GL) and immuno-cytokines in diabetes type-Ⅱ patients. Conclusion: The regulative action of acupuncture on blood GL and immuno-cytokine levels maybe contribute to its functions in stabilizing blood sugar and preventing complications.
