The Compulsory Education in the Underdevelopment Western Rural Region of China

Education plays a dominant role in contemporary society and is debated and contested all over the world.It is also the gateway to the wider world,but educational opportunities are frequently constrained by geographical locality.The rural infrastructure of China,for example,presents major challenges to educators seeking to open this door for the children of rural China.The objective of this research is to identify and analyse educational problems existing in western rural regions in China.

A Study on Eco-Tourism and Sustainable Development of Economic Underdevelopment Areas—An Example from Kanas Nature Reserve, Xingjiang Province, Northwest China

Based on the assessment of eco-tourism resource and its location advantage, the paper has discussed the principle, projects, and facilities of eco-tourism, in the Kanas Nature Reserve in Xinjiang as well as the direction of related industries. To solve the problems occurred at present in the Kanas Nature Reserve, strategic counter measures of sustainable development of eco-tourism have also been put forward, including: 1) The establishment of eco-tourism planning legislative system of eco-tourism;2) The establishment of environmental protection planning system of eco-tourism;3) The establishment of environmental audit system of eco-tourism;4) The establishment environmental legislation and law enforcement system of eco-tourism;5) The establishment ethic education and management system of eco-tourism.

Research on Beautiful Countryside Planning in Underdeveloped Areas from Perspective of Traditional and Modern Integration——a Case Study of Jiangjia Village, Jishui County, Jiangxi Province

In context of building beautiful countryside nationwide, underdeveloped areas are confronted by many problems, such as monotonous industry structure, simi- lar rural landscape and loss of characteristics. With a case of Jiangjia Village, Jishui County, Jiangxi Province, the research explored rural pattern, cultural characteristics, building style, development value and potential and analyzed regional cooperation, urban-rural integration, and planning first, from the perspectives of economy, culture and building in order to protect traditional economy and highlight local characteristics.

Exploration on Construction Planning of Ecotownship in Underdeveloped Regions with a Case of Luoshi Town, Fengxin County, Jiangxi Province

Eco-township is of great significance for constructing beautiful countryside and accomplishing regional coordinated development between rural and urban areas to protect and improve environment in towns and villages in accordance with Envi- ronment Planning and Guidance of Townlets. The research took national eco-town- ship in Luoshi Town, Xinluo County, Jiangxi Province as an example and analyzed major environmental problems and causes by collecting natural, social and environ- ment information, from the perspectives of surveying on pollution source and envi- ronment quality. Finally, the research conducted regionalization of environment func- tion zones, determined environment quality protection objectives, and formulated en- vironment protection countermeasures, providing references for eco-township develop- ment in underdeveloped areas.

Planning and Designing of Small Towns in Underdeveloped Areas from Perspective of Ecocivilization——A Case Study of Shuinan Town,Jishui County,Jiangxi Province

Small towns are important carriers of rural economy development, and center promoting rural advancement in a specific region. However, many environ- mental problems are emerging with rapid urbanization and expansion of small town scale. The research analyzed existing problems of small town planning and con- struction domestically in the context of the 18th Party Congress and proposed coun- termeasures in terms of scale prediction, intensive use of lands, ＂pastoral＂ land- scape pattern, protection and up-gradation of human ecology with a case study of Shuinan Town, Jishui County, Jiangxi Province.

SWOT Analysis of Tourist Resources in Underdeveloped Counties—With Pingle County in Guilin City as the Study Case

Subalternity vs. Hegemony in the Development of Science in Cuba After the Revolution

Every developing country has to meet the challenge of overcoming a condition of subalterrnity. After the victory of the Revolution in 1959, Cuba tackled this challenge in a very original way, prioritizing the development of scientific and technical know-how and of an advanced scientific system. Moreover, it pursued this goal with an extremely open attitude, using characteristic Cuban resourcefulness while at the same time taking advantage of every possible support and collaboration. While the country was increasingly integrated into the Soviet system and the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance （COMECON）, and therefore benefited from a close collaboration with the Soviet Union and the Eastern European countries＇ higher education and scientific systems, nevertheless it constantly sought collaboration with scientists and institutions in other countries as well, in particular in the Western world. The most meaningful instance of this collaboration is the development since the 1980s of an advanced biotechnological and biomedical system, which was created independently by the Soviet Union. Quite remarkably, when the socialist system collapsed, though Cuba faced a critical situation, the strategic choice was made not to cut support to this scientific sector, but rather to reinforce it. At present Cuba produces and exports advanced and in some cases unique vaccines and drugs, and this sector ranks as third in the country＇s source of current hard currency.

An introduction to an English Teacher Education Program

Teacher training for primary and secondary schools in the underdeveloped areas in China was rather inadequate in terms of teaching skills.It's imperative to direct more attention to the English teachers in these areas and provide opportunities for them to receive in-service training so that they can update their subject matter knowledge and pedagogic knowledge to facilitate their teaching.In light of this demand,this paper presents a one-year-long program that is tailored to the needs of the secondary school teachers of English in the inland areas,by giving a detailed description of the knowledge base they need together with the rationale underlying such a design.

Paths for the Coordinated Development of Rural Economy and Environment in Economically Underdeveloped Areas——A Case of Huaian,China

Taking Huaian as an example,the rural economic and environmental problems in economically underdeveloped areas are expounded.The results show that rural areas in economically underdeveloped areas confront with lagged economic development,serious environmental pollutionand scarce shortage of equipments for treating environmental pollution.The causes of problems are analyzed,including inadequate fiscal supportfrom the local government;unscientific system for assessing government officers' performances;backward ideas in environmental protection and im-perfect laws and regulations on environmental protection.Based on these causes,the strategy of employing the circular economy to promote the co-ordinated development of rural environment and economy in economically underdeveloped areas is put forward.The strategy covers transformingthe way of agricultural production;adjusting agricultural production structure;positively collecting funds and increasing the input on handling rural en-vironmental problems;strengthening the efforts on promotion and education,and forming the healthy habits of consumption;enforcing supervisionand establishing a professional administration team for protecting rural environment;laying stress on rural technological innovation and strengtheningthe force of expansion;accelerating the path of industrialization and promoting the industrialization of villages and towns vigorously.

Analysis of New Township Planning in Underdeveloped Western China—— With the Layout of Qiangbai Town in Shaanxi Province as a Study Case

Taking the planned layout of Qiangbai Town in Dali County,Shaanxi Province as a study case,by enhancing the economic correlation between central town and its villages as well as surrounding townships,a circular economic structure can be established through promoting the unified development of agriculture,industry,commerce as well as the primary agricultural and industrial processed products.According to the economic development principle of "rejuvenating the town by launching key projects,promoting agriculture by enhancing its industry",Qiangbai Town can be constructed into a central township with comprehensive functions,developed industry and facility agriculture by taking the construction of new socialist countryside as the target,project construction as the responsibility and accelerating the newly-emerging industrialization.According to the principle of urban-rural integration,as well as the coordinated development of economy,society,population and environmental resources,the detail contents of Qiangbai Town planning are put forward,specifically,industrial development layout,village development layout,township road layout and green system layout.

Identification and analysis of underdeveloped resource-rich regions in China

This paper analyzes the existence of developmental views and compares the results of previous studies for underdeveloped regions. In view of the limitations of previous studies, this study details regional unit, expands index system, applies factor-analysis to structure index system, uses the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model to improve analytic hierarchy process, and identifies the economic developmental levels of 384 regions, including 4 municipalities, 333 cities at prefecture level, and 47 counties under the jurisdiction of province. The levels of the 47 counties are identified by dividing the rank of comprehensive values of more than 337 regions unit into five equal graduations and then matching the 47 counties with the five-graduation results. This study provides the distribution of resources-rich region in China qualitatively and quantitatively in terms of coal, oil gas and other 14 kinds of metal mineral resources. Finally, by matching the two parts of results, this study identifies the distribution of underdeveloped resource-rich regions (URRRs). URRRs are mainly distributed in Shaanxi, Shanxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan, He’nan, Shandong, Guangxi and Gansu provinces, which accounts for 78.57% of the total in China. To a certain degree, the result of this paper proves that “resources curse” existing in the national stratification plane in later 20th century still takes places in some cities in China, especially in the counties of these cities’ jurisdiction.

Research on central village selection in western underdeveloped region:a case study of Lidian Town,Jingning County,Gansu Province,China

Central village selection is the priority of small town construction.Depending on the development potential analysis,classification analysis,and quantitative and qualitative analysis,this article systematically proposes the specific methods of central village selection and also constructs the indicator system used in central village selection in small towns of western underdeveloped region in China.The article also puts forward ideas and methods for selection of central village in the western underdeveloped region through an empirical research on Lidian Town,Jingning County,Gansu Province.In the final part,suggestions and recommendations on how to develop central village for Lidian Town are made.

Discussion on the Problems and Path of Characteristic Town Construction in Underdeveloped, Resource-Based Cities: A Case Study of Ganzhou City

Characteristic towns as a characteristic industry are one of the important measures of China's new urbanization strategy. The construction of characteristic towns in different regions needs to pay attention to regional differentiation. At present, the research on characteristic towns focuses on the developed the developed central and eastern regions. There are still few studies on characteristics towns in underdeveloped areas. Starting from the analysis of the concept of the characteristic town, this paper sorted out the general situation of the construction of characteristic towns in China based on the existing research literature, selected Ganzhou City for research, pointed out there were "two restrictions and two singles" in the construction of characteristic towns in Ganzhou City, and clarified that the characteristic towns of Ganzhou City should adhere to the construction path of "two characteristics and two integrations", with a view to providing a useful reference for in Ganzhou City the construction of characteristic towns, industrial transformation and upgrading, and poverty alleviation in such underdeveloped, resource-based cities.

Urbanization Response Macro-analysis of Underdeveloped Hilly Areas in Central China

By investigating urbanization process of a typical village in Xinyang City, Henan Province, urbanization response characteristics and driving mechanism of underdeveloped hilly area were explored from the perspectives of population, economy, landscape and society. The results showed that reform of government macro-policy is a fundamental driving force for the urbanization of underdeveloped hilly area in central China which then is co-promoted by economic development and social needs. During the urbanization, rural population is transferred locally or to the neighboring areas, traditional agriculture is gradually transferred to professional and characteristic agriculture. Non-agricultural economy has become a major income source of the locals, and also a major force for shaping rural economic spaces and natural landscapes, leading to the binary landscape layout of village. Weights of environment and traffic are improved in selecting relocation site for rural households, traditional affinity and neighborhood relationship is weakened, spatial differentiation of social and economic structures in the village is enhanced, which are all new tokens of the villagers' values and life concepts, and will lead to the further urbanization.

Utilization of Artificial Intelligence for Diagnosis and Management of Urinary Incontinence in Women Residing in Areas with Low Resources: An Overview

Urinary incontinence (UI) is a distressing condition involving involuntary loss of urine from the body. Urinary incontinence can negatively impact a person’s overall quality of life and lead them into stages of embarrassment and depression. It is an underrepresented and undertreated condition prevalent in women, especially in low socioeconomic regions where women may not be able to express their concerns due to unawareness of diagnosis and treatment/management options. There are different diagnostic and management protocols for UI;however, utilizing artificially intelligent systems is not standard care. This paper overviews the use of artificial intelligence in women’s health and as a means of cost-effectively diagnosing patients, and as an avenue for providing low-cost treatments to women that suffer from urinary incontinence in low-resource communities. Studies found that these systems, mainly utilizing artificial neural networks (ANNs) and convolutional neural networks (CNNs), served to be an effective method in diagnosing patients and providing an avenue for personalized treatment for improved patient outcomes. A simple artificial intelligence (AI) model utilizing Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) Networks was proposed to diagnose and manage urinary incontinence.

Impact of carbon emissions on economic factors and economic growth in China’s underdeveloped regions: Evidence from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

Global warming and carbon emissions are highly concerned by countries all over the world.Since 2005,China has surpassed the United States as the world’s first carbon emission country,but in recent years,China has made remarkable achievements in carbon emission regulation.In 2018,China’s carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP dropped by 4.0%,a cumulative decline of 45.8%over 2005 and equivalent to a reduction of 5.26 billion tons of CO2.But in underdeveloped areas of the western China,economic growth and energy conservation and emission reduction are still facing a severe contradiction.This paper mainly explores the impact of carbon emissions on economic factors and economic growth in China’s underdeveloped regions(Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region)over the period from 1998 to 2017.The Tapio decoupling elasticity index was used to measure the degree of dependence of Guangxi’s economic growth on carbon emissions,and the influence of economic development factors(the GDP,population,technology level and urbanization level)on CO2 emissions was analyzed with the STIRPAT model.The main findings are presented as follows:(1)The relationship between carbon emissions and economic growth in China’s underdeveloped regions over the period from 1998 to 2017 is mainly characterized by weak decoupling;(2)According to OLS(Ordinary Least Square)modeling results,for every 1%increase in carbon dioxide emissions,economy grows by 0.947%,population size decreases 0.621%,urbanization level increases 0.120%,and technical level declines 0.830%.In view of the research conclusions,some suggestions are put forward to promote the economic transformation and upgrading,improve the environmental protection awareness of the population and actively promote the new urbanization.

Education Equipment Configuration and Funding Situation Analysis of Underdeveloped Areas of Information Technology in Rural Primary and Secondary School

In order to understand IT teaching conditions and living environment in the less developed areas of rural primary and secondary school, the paper uses questionnaire survey equipment to investigate education of some rural underdeveloped areas of information technology in primary and secondary school in Jiangxi. And it has analyzed 2011-2013 investment and construction of the status quo in education funding for information technology equipment. The results show： Less Developed Areas in primary and secondary school education information and technology education equipment cannot meet the needs of the development of education with lack of funding support, poor school environment and information technology teaching conditions. And this phenomenon has been analyzed, and effective measures are to improve primary and secondary school education in underdeveloped areas of information technology conditions and educational level.

Techno-economic analysis of a hybrid renewable energy system integrated with productive activities in an underdeveloped rural region of eastern Indonesia

The Southwest Maluku region in eastern Indonesia is considered a frontier,outermost and underdeveloped region.Its inhabitants live on isolated islands,including the residents of Mahaleta Village,where only 9.4%of the community have limited access to electricity.This study aimed to design an economically feasible hybrid renewable energy(RE)system based on solar and wind energy to integrate with the productive activities of the village.The study developed conceptual schemes to meet the demand for electricity from the resi-dential,community,commercial and productive sectors of the village.The analysis was performed using a techno-economic approach.The hybrid system was designed using the HOMER Pro optimization function,and cold-storage and dryer systems were designed to support related productive activities.The optimized design of the hybrid RE system comprised 271.62 kW of solar photovoltaics,80 kW of wind turbines and a 1-MWh lead-acid battery.We found that the hybrid RE system would only be economically feasible with a full-grant incentive and an electricity tariff of$0.0808/kWh.However,the productive activity schemes were all economically feasible,with a cold-storage cost of$0.035/kg and a drying cost of$0.082/kg.Integrating the hybrid RE system with productive activities can improve the economic feasibility of the energy system and create more jobs as well as increase income for the local community.
