The Vector Hydrophone(VH) is widely used to remotely detect underwater targets. Accurately measuring the self-noise of the VH provides an important basis for evaluating the performance of the detection system in which it is utilized, since the ability to acquire weak signals is determined by the VH self-noise level. To accurately measure the VH self-noise level in actual working conditions, the Dual-channel Transfer Function Method(DTFM) is proposed to reduce ambient background noise interference. In this paper, the underlying principles of DTFM in reducing ambient background noise is analyzed. The numerical simulations to determine the influence of ambient background noise, and the sensitivity difference of the two VHs on the measurement results are studied. The results of measuring the VH self-noise level in a small laboratory water tank by using DTMF indicate that ambient background noise interference can be reduced effectively by employing DTMF, more accurate self-noise level can be obtained as well. The DTMF provides an effective method for accurately measuring the self-noise level of VHs and also provides technical support for the practical application of the VH in underwater acoustics. 展开更多

The outer cavity Janus-Helmholtz with sound insulation layer is presented for ob- taining the capacity of high-power non-directional transmitting. The radiation efficiency and directivity in the 0 degrees direction can be improved when the radiation mode is changed by laying sound insulation layer. The operating bandwidth can be expanded effectively by the dual mode coupling between the cavity vibration and longitudinal vibration of Janus transducer. A prototype is designed by finite element method. Test results show that the results are in good agreement with the design results. Compared with inner cavity Janus-Helmholtz transducer, acoustic radiation performance of outer cavity Janus-Helmholtz underwater acoustic transducer in the 0 degrees direction has been significantly improved. 展开更多

A kind of circular ring high frequency wideband underwater acoustic transducer is developed by using the Low Q value and broadband characteristics of the piezoelectricity composite material,and the dual mode coupling is used to broaden the bandwidth of the transducer by double ring stacking along the axial direction.Through theoretical analysis and simulation calculation,the geometric dimensions of the sensitive components are determined.The piezoelectric composite rings are processed and then the stack sensitive element can be made by stacking two piezoelectric composite rings with the same outer diameter and different thickness in axial direction by cutting piezoelectric ceramicsfilling the flexible polymer-coating electrode.Finally,the transducer can be made by pouring waterproof sound-permeable layer.The performances of transducer have also been tested in the water and the test results show that the resonant frequency is 410 kHz,the maximum transmit voltage response is 150 dB,the-3 dB bandwidth can reaches 60 kHz,the horizontal directivity(-5 dB) is 360°,and the vertical directivity(-3 dB) is 20°.It is also shown that the bandwidth of the transducer can be enlarged remarkably by using the method of stacking two different thickness piezoelectric composite rings along the axial direction,and the horizontal omnidirectional emission of acoustic wave can be realized 展开更多

The existing absorption coefficient measurement in a water tube is limited in low frequency due to the limitation of the pulse tube length.A wide-band pulse tube method based on the post-processing inverse filter is proposed.After obtaining the response of the entire system,the transducer is excited with wide-band,short-duration signals.Then,the received signals are processed with inverse filters and the "blurred" reflective signals of standard reflector and test sample are recovered respectively,finally,the reflection coefficient and absorption coefficient are calculated.Simulation work is implemented to verify the advantage of postprocessing inverse filter over pre-processing inverse filter in terms of low frequency measurement.To verify the proposed method,two different wide-band pulses in the separate frequency ranges are adopted to measure the same rubber material.The experimental results indicate that the wide-band pulse method and CW(Continuous Wave) pulse method have good agreement in both low frequency range and high frequency range.Wide-band pulse method is of high efficiency,and the low frequency reaches 350 Hz,which is able to extend the low frequency range. 展开更多
