The article examines the concept of intrapersonal conflict,the ravaging wars within oneself,that which is truly deeper than indecisiveness,what is responsible for inner conflict,its origin,the consequences,and how to ...The article examines the concept of intrapersonal conflict,the ravaging wars within oneself,that which is truly deeper than indecisiveness,what is responsible for inner conflict,its origin,the consequences,and how to avoid it.It employs Dul Johnsons’“In the Jaws of Love”in his Why Women Won’t Make It to Heaven.The theory for the investigation is sociological theory which articulates the inevitable relationship between literature and society.The inquiry unearths that an individuals’attempt to satisfy the needs of one’s environment at the expense of sound reasoning,the individual’s inability to find a balance between the individual’s head and heart,and being religious are detrimental to one’s wellbeing.It creates intrapersonal conflict which is indeed destructive.The paper resolves that people should be able to tell themselves the truth,recognise and accept same,even if it comes from one with whom they disagree.It also explicates that people should not depend on religious and secular leader or people to take decisions for them,and that living in fear is devastating among other things.展开更多

The proposed algorithm is based on capacitance calculation from transient im...This paper presents a new earth-fault detection algorithm for unearthed (isolated) and compensated neutral medium voltage (MV) networks. The proposed algorithm is based on capacitance calculation from transient impedance and dominant transient frequency. The Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) method is used to determine the dominant transient frequency. The values of voltage and current earth modes are calculated in the period of the dominant transient frequency, then the transient impedance can be determined, from which we can calculate the earth capacitance. The calculated capacitance gives an indication about if the feeder is faulted or not. The algorithm is less dependent on the fault resistance and the faulted feeder parameters; it mainly depends on the background network. The network is simulated by ATP/EMTP program. Several different fault conditions are covered in the simulation process, different fault inception angles, fault locations and fault resistances.展开更多

The ...The sterilization of the simulated unearthed silk fabrics using an atmospheric pressure plasma jet(APPJ) system employing Ar/O2 or He/O2 plasma to inactivate the mycete attached on the silk fabrics is reported. The effects of the APPJ characteristics(particularly the gas type and discharge power) on the fabric strength, physical-chemical structures,and sterilizing efficiency were investigated. Experimental results showed that the Ar/O2 APPJ plasma can inactivate the mycete completely within 4.0 min under a discharge power of 50.0 W. Such an APPJ treatment had negligible impact on the mechanical strength of the fabric and the surface chemical characteristics. Moreover, the Ar ions, O and OH radicals were shown to play important roles on the sterilization of the mycete attached on the unearthed silk fabrics.展开更多

The proposed algorithm uses the transien...This paper presents a novel transient current differential algorithm for earth fault detection in unearthed (isolated) and compensated neutral medium voltage (MV) networks. The proposed algorithm uses the transient residual currents, which are very sensitive for earth faults detection. The transient values of residual currents are calculated for each feeder in the network and used as an earth fault indicator. The flow of residual currents is investigated. It is found that the residual current for the faulted feeder is equal to the summation of all residual currents for all other healthy feedersl Based on this investigation, a differential technique is proposed. A percentage restrain performance is proposed to ensure the selectivity and security of the algorithm. The transient algorithm is very sensitive for earth fault incidence. To apply the proposed algorithm, the residual currents can be measured easily by one sensor for each feeder with no need to voltage measurement. The proposed algorithm is less dependent on the fault resistance and the faulted feeder parameters. The network is simulated by ATP/EMTP program. In northwest China,where winter is extremely cold and the grapevine is vulnerable to freezing damage,the application of soil covering has promoted the vigorous development of the local grape and wine industries.Howeve...In northwest China,where winter is extremely cold and the grapevine is vulnerable to freezing damage,the application of soil covering has promoted the vigorous development of the local grape and wine industries.However,in recent years,the negative effects of burying soil for cold protection on the environment have gradually emerged.In some viticultural regions,the phenomenon of"summer forest,winter desert"has appeared.Therefore,it is urgent for the Chinese grape industry to find a better solution to overwinter safely and environmentally friendly.This review summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of widely used solutions to overwinter such as covering vines with soil,breeding of cold-resistant grapes,cold-resistant cultivation model,physical and chemical covering materials,and protected grape facilities were reviewed.Future overwintering measures were proposed which avoid burial and grape overwintering research directions.It also provides a theoretical foundation and technical support to improve grape yield and quality in northwest China.展开更多
