2023:A year of accomplishments for the 13 Science Citation Index Expanded-and Emerging Sources Citation Index-indexed Baishideng journals

In 2023,Baishideng Publishing Group(Baishideng)routinely published 47 openaccess journals,including 46 English-language journals and 1 Chinese-language journal.Our successes were accomplished through the collective dedicated efforts of Baishideng staffs,Editorial Board Members,and Peer Reviewers.Among these 47 Baishideng journals,7 are included in the Science Citation Index Expanded(SCIE)and 6 in the Emerging Sources Citation Index(ESCI).With the support of Baishideng authors,company staffs,Editorial Board Members,and Peer Reviewers,the publication work of 2023 is about to be successfully completed.This editorial summarizes the 2023 activities and accomplishments of the 13 SCIEand ESCI-indexed Baishideng journals,outlines the Baishideng publishing policy changes and additions made this year,and highlights the unique advantages of Baishideng journals.

Characteristics and Analysis of Dominant Diseases in Jing Nationality Medicine

Jing medicine occupies a very prominent position in the traditional culture of the Chinese nation and has unique advantages. Through the literature review of Jing medicine, the author has a deeper understanding of Jing medicine in Guangxi. This paper mainly shows the traditional characteristic medicine culture of the Jing nationality and discusses the characteristic therapy and medication characteristics of Jing nationality medicine, which is conducive to the improvement of people’s cognition of Jing nationality medicine and the development and innovation of Jing nationality medicine.

Conceptual Determinants of Development of Intellectual Capital of Construction Enterprises

The presence and effective implementation of the intellectual potential of construction enterprises is important for creating unique competitive advantages as a response to challenges caused by globalization, the era of the knowledge economy, as well as the development of communication and information technologies. The purpose of the study is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the factors that contribute to the development of intellectual capital in construction enterprises;development of an algorithm for thorough response by the enterprise to the action of determinants.The following methods were used: Analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction when studying the variety of determinants of the development of intellectual capital;grouping in the process of classifying determinants;statistical methods in the process of researching the reporting of construction enterprises;systematic approach in the process of forming an algorithm of actions aimed at ensuring effective management of the intellectual capital of construction enterprises;abstraction to generalize research results and outline significant trends in changing indicators that reflect the development of individual components of intellectual capital. In the paper, the determinants of the development of intellectual capital are grouped according to the classification features important for Ukrainian construction enterprises.The indicators, the monitoring of which is necessary in the process of implementing a conscious response to the action of the determinants of the development of the intellectual capital of construction enterprises, are studied on the example of Ukrainian construction enterprises.

Controlled Assembly of Gold and Rare-Earth Upconversion Nanoparticles for Ratiometric Sensing Applications

In this paper, the Au nanoparticles and rare-earth （RE） upconversion nanoparticles （NPs） were respectively synthesized by using polyelectrolyte as the capping agents. Since the synthesized Au NPs and RE NPs had the similar size and surface conditions, Their mixture were employed in a pH sensing application. Benefited from the good spectral overlap between the RE upconversion emission bands and pH-tunable surface plasmon bands of the Au NPs, the pH-induced manipulation of green-to-red emission intensity ratio of the upconversion fluorescence was achieved in the Au-RE mixture. The results demonstrate a rapid ratiometric approach for pH sensing, which is more efficient than traditional sensing methods that depend on single intensity-based responses to analytes.
