In order to investigate the influence of the vertical vibration loading on the liquefaction of saturated sand, one dimensional model for the saturated sand with a vertical vibration is presented based on the two phase continuous media theory. The development of the liquefaction and the lique- faction region are analyzed. It is shown that the vertical vibration loading could induce liquefaction. The rate of the liquefaction increases with the increase of the initial limit strain or initial porosity or amplitude and frequency of loading, and increases with the decrease of the permeability or initial modulus. It is shown also that there is a phase lag in the sand column. When the sand permeability distribution is non-uniform,the pore pressure and the strain will rise sharply where the permeability is the smallest, and fracture might be induced. With the development of liquefaction, the strength of the soil foundation becomes smaller and smaller. In the limiting case, landslides or debris flows could occur. 展开更多

The purpose of this work was to explore the influence law of vibration load on rock mass structure and slope stability.Based on the type and transmission way of vibration stress wave, the main stress in the horizontal and vertical directions was analyzed and the superposition effect of the stress wave was revealed. After the mechanical analysis of the sliding mass, the calculation formulas of the anti-sliding force and the sliding force were derived and the damage mechanism of blasting vibration to the structural plane was defined. In addition, according to the structure and lithologic parameter of the slope as well as the vibration monitoring data, the west slope stability of Xiaolongtan open pit mine was analyzed. The results show that the time-dependent stability factor is proportional to the vibration speed and the peak values appear at the same time.Vibration load promotes the breakage of the structural plane leading to the drop of the west slope stability factor by 0.23%.Under the multipoint simultaneous blasting, the fluctuating laws of the stability factors are consistent. The more the start-up points are,the higher the weakening degree to the slope stability is.Under the multipoint allochronic blasting, the stability factor depends on the synthetic waveform structure of all vibration waves. The greater the blasting time difference is,the lower the weakening degree to the slope stability is.Selecting the reasonable quantity of start-up points and time difference could fully reduce the adverse influence of vibration load to slope stability. 展开更多

The non-linear dynamic behaviors of thermoelastic circular plate with varying thickness subjected to radially uniformly distributed follower forces are considered. Two coupled non-linear differential equations of motion for this problem are derived in terms of the transverse deflection and radial displacement component of the mid-plane of the plate. Using the Kantorovich averaging method, the differential equation of mode shape of the plate is derived, and the eigenvalue problem is solved by using shooting method. The eigencurves for frequencies and critical loads of the circular plate with unmovable simply supported edge and clamped edge are obtained. The effects of the variation of thickness and temperature on the frequencies and critical loads of the thermoelastic circular plate subjected to radially uniformly distributed follower forces are then discussed. 展开更多

Following a small-scale wedge failure at Yukon Zinc's Wolverine Mine in Yukon, Canada, a vibration monitoring program was added to the existing rockbolt pull testing regime. The failure in the 1150 drift occurred after numerous successive blasts in an adjacent tunnel had loosened friction bolts passing through an unmapped fault. Analysis of blasting vibration revealed that support integrity is not compromised unless there is a geological structure to act as a failure plane. The peak particle velocity(PPV) rarely exceeded 250 mm/s with a frequency larger than 50 Hz. As expected, blasting more competent rock resulted in higher PPVs. In such cases, reducing the round length from 3.5 m to 2.0 m was an effective means of limiting potential rock mass and support damage. 展开更多
