A calculation method for average VDC-AN copolymer composition with AN phase partition considered was proposed. The calculated results are in good agreement with the experimental data nearly the entire conversion range. VDC-AN copolymer with narrower composition distribution can be prepared in the suspension process and interpreted with dynamic equilibrium of AN between the oil and water phases continuously.展开更多

In this method a. copolymer of vinylidene chloride and methyl acrylate (VCMAC) was used as photo acid generator which can release proton when it is exposed to ultraviolet light (lambda = 254 nm). The structure of PANI-VCMAC system before and after irradiation was characterized by elemental analysis, IR, XTP, anti SEM images. Results obtained indicate that the photo-induced doping characteristics, such as doping position and type of charge carriers, are similar to that of PANI doped with HCl. The poor room-temperature conductivity (similar to 10-S-5/cm) of PANI-VCMAC system after irradiation may be due to low doping degree (similar to pH=3) and the difference in morphology as compared with PANI-HCl film.展开更多

All the VDC/MA copolymers studied are semicrystalline. The statistical weighted parameters were obtained from RIS representations and ab initio energies of conformers for model molecules 2,2,4,4-tetrachloropentane(TCP) and 2,2,4,4,6, 6-hexachloroheptane(HCH). By employing the RIS method, the characteristic ratio C∞ was calculated for PVDC. The calculated characteristic ratio for PVDC is in good agreement with experiment result. Additionally, we studied the influence of the statistical weighted parameters on C∞ by calculating δC∞/δlnw. According to the values of δC∞/δlnw, the effects of second-order Cl-CH2 pentane type interaction and C1--C1 long range interaction on C∞ were found to be important. Twice-painting technique was adopted to prepare heavy-duty anticorrosive coating films formed by aqueous latexes of copolymers of vinylidene chloride(VDC) with an acrylate, namely methyl acrylate(MA), ethyl acryl...Twice-painting technique was adopted to prepare heavy-duty anticorrosive coating films formed by aqueous latexes of copolymers of vinylidene chloride(VDC) with an acrylate, namely methyl acrylate(MA), ethyl acrylate(EA), butyl acrylate(BA) or 2-ethylhexyl acrylate(EHA). Harsh salt-spray corrosion tests demonstrated that the optimized twicepainting technique was that the acidic latex solution was adjusted to p H 5-6 for the first painting, while it was utilized directly for the second painting. The test of 600 h of harsh salt-spray corrosion showed that MA-VDC85 coating could protect the steel excellently, whereas the other acrylate-VDC coatings with 75%-90% VDC content could not protect the steel so effectively. Further corrosion test showed that(1) MA-VDC85 coating protected steel from loss of metallic luster for at least 1000 h of salt-spray corrosion;(2) adhesion of MA-VDC85 coating to steel was excellent for at least 800 h of saltspray corrosion, but became very poor after 1000 h. Differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy were used to evaluate the corroded MA-VDC85 film.展开更多

Herein, a facile and efficient strategy to prepare n...Synthesis of spherical carbon beads with effective CO_2 capture capability is highly desirable for large scale application of CO2 sorption, but remains challenging. Herein, a facile and efficient strategy to prepare nitrogen-doped hierarchically porous carbon spheres was developed via co-pyrolyzation of poly(vinylidene chloride) and melamine in alginate gel beads. In this approach, melamine not only serves as the nitrogen precursor, but also acts as a template for the macropores structures. The nitrogen contents in the hierarchically porous carbon spheres reach a high level, ranging from 11.8 wt% to 14.7 wt%, as the melamine amount increases. Owing to the enriched nitrogen functionalities and the special hierarchical porous structure, the carbon spheres exhibit an outstanding CO_2 capture performance, with the dynamic capacity of as much as about 7 wt% and a separation factor about 49 at 25 °C in a gas mixture of CO_2/N_2(0.5:99.5, v/v).展开更多
