Fourier Transform-Infra Red spectroscopy, Brunauer Emmett and Teller, Thermo Gravimetric Analysis, pH at point of zero charge, and scanning electron microscopy measurements have been applied to characterize the synthetic nanohybrid composite, these techniques revealed the successful functionalization of both dendrimer molecules and subsequent immobilization onto silica gel. The implications of varying adsorption parameters such as contact time, initial concentration of adsorbate, temperature and pH on both composites were studied. Experimental data obtained from batch adsorption processes were fitted into two equilibrium isotherms (Langmuir and Freundlich) and 3 kinetic models (Pseudo-First-Order, Pseudo-Second-Order, Intra Particle Diffusion). Adsorption mechanism was mainly governed by film diffusion due to electrostatic interactions between the functionalized dendrimer surface and Congo Red molecules. Thermodynamic parameters illustrate that the adsorption is endothermic and spontaneous. Findings suggest the Nanocomposites (G-3PS and G-5PS) are good adsorbents for the removal of Congo Red dye from aqueous solutions.展开更多

The as-prepared powders were analyzed and characterized by chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The results show that high energy ball milling with variable rotation rates and repeatious circulation could be used to produce nanocrystalline WC-Co powder composites with high efficiency. The compositions of the powders meet its specifications with low impurity content. The mean grain size decreases, lattice distortion and system energy increase with increasing the milling time. The morphology of nanocrystalline WC-Co particles displays dominantiy sphere shape and their particle sizes are all lower than 80 nm. The eutectic temperature of the nanocrystalline WC-10Co-0.8VC-0.2Cr3C2 composites is about 1280℃.展开更多

The yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and the elastic modulus are improved with the addition of nano particles although some reduction in ductility is observed. The highest yield strength and ultimate tensile strength are obtained with the addition of 3.5% SiC nano-particles. Carbon atoms around Si were substituted by N atoms. So charged defects and quasi free electrons moved in response to the electric field, diffusion or polarization current resulted from the field propagation. The high ε″and loss factor tgδ(ε″/ε′) of Si/C/N composite powder were due to the dielectric relaxation.展开更多
