We have developed a web-based processing system that can simulate positive and negative sea level changes globally by selecting the best Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for a target region from multiple DEMs. A PNG elev...We have developed a web-based processing system that can simulate positive and negative sea level changes globally by selecting the best Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for a target region from multiple DEMs. A PNG elevation tile format is used as the DEM format, which reduces the DEM data size. The PNG tile format implements client-based processing, and the DEM data are provided from different websites. In addition, the smart tile architecture is adopted, which enables on-demand simulation by adding a tile conversion process (<em>i.e.</em>, a DEM selection process) during image drawing by using JavaScript. To demonstrate the system, we have employed three DEMs,<em> i.e.</em>, the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI) map (~10-m resolution), the ASTER Global Digital Elevation Models (ASTER GDEM version 3) as global land area (~30-m resolution), and the General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans as bathymetric data (~1000-m resolution). The ASTER Global Water Bodies Database is also used in the data selection process. The GSI provides their DEM in a PNG elevation tile format, and the other data are provided by the Geological Survey of Japan in PNG elevation tile format. We assume the current DEM sea level as 0 m, and the sea level can be changed to an arbitrary integer value (<span style="white-space:nowrap;">−</span>10,000 to 10,000 m). Combining ASTER GDEM for land and GEBCO for sea makes it possible to target DEM of the whole earth. Moreover, it was shown that if a higher resolution DEM is available, it is possible to combine the higher resolution DEM in that area. The combining the PNG elevation tile format with the smart tile architecture demonstrates the possibilities of a client-based web processing service like that of the server-based OGC Web Processing Service.展开更多

To meet the challenge of implementing rapidly advanced, time-consuming medical image processing algorithms, it is necessary to develop a medical image processing technology to process a 2D or 3D medical image dynamica...To meet the challenge of implementing rapidly advanced, time-consuming medical image processing algorithms, it is necessary to develop a medical image processing technology to process a 2D or 3D medical image dynamically on the web. But in a premier system, only static image processing can be provided with the limitation of web technology. The development of Java and CORBA (common object request broker architecture) overcomes the shortcoming of the web static application and makes the dynamic processing of medical images on the web available. To develop an open solution of distributed computing, we integrate the Java, and web with the CORBA and present a web-based medical image dynamic processing methed, which adopts Java technology as the language to program application and components of the web and utilies the CORBA architecture to cope with heterogeneous property of a complex distributed system. The method also provides a platform-independent, transparent processing architecture to implement the advanced image routines and enable users to access large dataset and resources according to the requirements of medical applications. The experiment in this paper shows that the medical image dynamic processing method implemented on the web by using Java and the CORBA is feasible.展开更多
Since the beginning of web applications,security has been a critical study area.There has been a lot of research done to figure out how to define and identify security goals or issues.However,high-security web apps ha...Since the beginning of web applications,security has been a critical study area.There has been a lot of research done to figure out how to define and identify security goals or issues.However,high-security web apps have been found to be less durable in recent years;thus reducing their business continuity.High security features of a web application are worthless unless they provide effective services to the user and meet the standards of commercial viability.Hence,there is a necessity to link in the gap between durability and security of the web application.Indeed,security mechanisms must be used to enhance durability as well as the security of the web application.Although durability and security are not related directly,some of their factors influence each other indirectly.Characteristics play an important role in reducing the void between durability and security.In this respect,the present study identifies key characteristics of security and durability that affect each other indirectly and directly,including confidentiality,integrity availability,human trust and trustworthiness.The importance of all the attributes in terms of their weight is essential for their influence on the whole security during the development procedure of web application.To estimate the efficacy of present study,authors employed the Hesitant Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process(H-Fuzzy AHP).The outcomes of our investigations and conclusions will be a useful reference for the web application developers in achieving a more secure and durable web application.展开更多
