The aim of this study is to determine weights of factors affecting elective course selection from students' perspective. So as to solve the problem, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) based model was used. Factors which affect the elective course selection from students' point of view include five main criteria and 13 sub-criteria which were indicated by students. An online questionnaire containing demographic questions, enabled each student to compare the relative priority of criteria with all of the other criteria. The responses were evaluated via Super Decisions software, and priorities were determined using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). According to the analysis of 40 experts (i.e., graduate students studying in engineering programs), course schedule and teaching staff related factors are the two most important factors affecting the elective course selection. A real- life situation which will help students who are indecisive and hesitates while selecting an elective course was observed. AHP contributes to develop an analytic and comprehensive framework decision making. The method should be considered by faculty member involved in decisions about curriculum update and offering new courses.展开更多

Online learning is becoming more and more popular among college students.College courses are going online recently but seldom have a systematic structure.In an attempt to testify the effect of online learning of the E...Online learning is becoming more and more popular among college students.College courses are going online recently but seldom have a systematic structure.In an attempt to testify the effect of online learning of the English language,a research is carried out by running a selective course of Campus English online.The whole process of the course is running online.A Wechat group is set up for the purpose of supervision.Each unit has an assignment to follow.Through finishing these assignments,the skills of listening,speaking,reading and writing are all practiced.To test the students’learning outcome,the instructor only needs to check their assignments.Feedback is offered to the students as soon as the teacher has corrected the assignments.After the twenty-class-hour learning,a survey is carried out to find out the student’s further needs and satisfaction level.The result of the survey shows that the students are quite satisfied with this form of online learning.Some advice is also offered by them to contribute to the further improvement of this online course.This research has shed some light on further improvement of online course.展开更多

A web-based supplier relationships (SR) framework is therfore proposed using multi-agent systems and linear programming technique to reduce supply cost, increase flexibility and shorten response time. Web-based SR approach is an ideal platform for information exchange that helps buyers and suppliers to maintain the availability of materials in the right quantity, at the right place, and at the right time, and keep the customer-supplier relationship more transparent. A multi-agent system prototype was implemented by simulation, which shows the feasibility of the proposed architecture.展开更多

This survey study aims to investigate the perceptions learners have of the character-learning strategies they employ when taking a web-based course in Chinese.The seven Likert-scale statements are included in the ques...This survey study aims to investigate the perceptions learners have of the character-learning strategies they employ when taking a web-based course in Chinese.The seven Likert-scale statements are included in the questionnaire to examine learners’opinions on the three character-learning strategies that are widely used in traditional campus courses.A total of 65 students who completed the beginner level‘Chinese Characters’web-based course at a university in Sweden completed the survey.The results suggest that students in web-based courses consider these three strategies to be just as helpful and effective as campus students;moreover,the more orthodox strategy-rote learning-is found to be the most popular among distance students.Furthermore,findings of this study provide insight into the limitations and advantages associated with a web-based course,and also the possible effect learners’age and gender may have on learning strategy preferences.展开更多
