A T-S fuzzy model is ...This paper proposes an impulsive control scheme for chaotic systems consisting of Van der Pol oscillators coupled to linear oscillators (VDPL) based on their Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models. A T-S fuzzy model is utilized to represent the chaotic VDPL system. By using comparison method, a general asymptotical stability criterion by means of linear matrix inequality (LMI) is derived for the T-S fuzzy model of VDPL system with impulsive effects. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.展开更多
Black phosphorene(BP)and its analogs have attracted intensive attention due to their unique puckered structures,anisotropic characteristics,and negative Poisson’s ratio.The van der Waals(vdW)heterostructures assembly...Black phosphorene(BP)and its analogs have attracted intensive attention due to their unique puckered structures,anisotropic characteristics,and negative Poisson’s ratio.The van der Waals(vdW)heterostructures assembly by stacking different materials show novel physical properties,however,the parent materials do not possess.In this work,the first-principles calculations are performed to study the mechanical properties of the vdW heterostructure.Interestingly,a near-zero Poisson’s ratio ν_(zx)is found in BP/SnSe heterostructure.In addition,compared with the parent materials BP and SnSe with strong in-plane anisotropic mechanical properties,the BP/SnSe heterostructure shows strongly suppressed anisotropy.The results show that the vdW heterostructure has quite different mechanical properties compared with the parent materials,and provides new opportunities for the mechanical applications of the heterostructures.展开更多

Relativistic electron injections are one of the mechanisms of relativistic(≥0.5 MeV) electron enhancements in the Earth’s outer radiation belt. In this study, we present a statistical observation of 600 keV electron...Relativistic electron injections are one of the mechanisms of relativistic(≥0.5 MeV) electron enhancements in the Earth’s outer radiation belt. In this study, we present a statistical observation of 600 keV electron injections in the outer radiation belt by using data from the Van Allen Probes. On the basis of the characteristics of different injections, 600 keV electron injections in the outer radiation belt were divided into pulsed electron injections and nonpulsed electron injections. The 600 keV electron injections were observed at 4.5 < L <6.4 under the geomagnetic conditions of 450 nT < AE < 1,450 nT. An L of ~4.5 is an inward limit for 600 keV electron injections. Before the electron injections, a flux negative L shell gradient for ≤0.6 MeV electrons or low electron fluxes in the injected region were observed. For600 keV electron injections at different L shells, the source populations from the Earth’s plasma sheet were different. For 600 keV electron injections at higher L shells, the source populations were higher energy electrons(~200 keV at X ~–9 R_(E)), whereas the source populations for 600 keV electron injections at lower L shells were lower energy electrons(~80 keV at X ~–9 R_(E)). These results are important to further our understanding of electron injections and rapid enhancements of 600 keV electrons in the Earth’s outer radiation belt.展开更多
The properties of the polarization sensitized material with the wide possibilities,on the basis of azo-dye doped polymers,are reviewed and analyzed shortly.Some experimental results obtained on these materials in the ...The properties of the polarization sensitized material with the wide possibilities,on the basis of azo-dye doped polymers,are reviewed and analyzed shortly.Some experimental results obtained on these materials in the polarization holography andphotography on the basis of Weigert’s effect are briefly described.In particular,with the help of these materials,the results ofholographic recording and reconstruction of the polarization characteristics of the light field have been significantly improved.Wereobtained holographic diffractive optical elements with the highest diffraction efficiency,such as diffraction gratings and zone plates(Fresnel lenses),which have no analogues among the known ones.Was observed self-recording phenomenon in a dynamicholographic recording and recovery process.The prospects of using the given materials in the photography for obtaining polarimetricimages of various objects,including celestial bodies,were shown.展开更多
The hysteresis of saturation-capillary pressure(S-p) relations was investigated in a fine sandy medium under consecutive drainage-imbibition cycles,which resulted from scheduled water level fluctuations.A drainage-imb...The hysteresis of saturation-capillary pressure(S-p) relations was investigated in a fine sandy medium under consecutive drainage-imbibition cycles,which resulted from scheduled water level fluctuations.A drainage-imbibition cycle starts with a drainage process and ends with an imbibition process in sequence.The saturation and capillary pressure were measured online with time domain reflectometry(TDR) probes and T5 tensiometers,respectively.Results show that the relation between the degree of hysteresis and the number of the drainage-imbibition cycles is not obvious.However,the degree decreases with the increase of the initial water saturation of the imbibition processes in these drainage-imbibition cycles.The air-entry pressure of a sandy medium is also found to be constant,which is independent of the drainage-imbibition cycles and the initial water saturation of the drainage process.In all the imbibition processes,parameter α of the van Genuchten(VG) model decreases with the increase of the initial water saturation,which corresponds positively to the magnitude of the hysteresis.展开更多

When treated as a perfect fluid, rapidly rotating Casimir plates will create vorticity in the vacuum bounded by them. The geometry resulting from an arbitrarily extended Casimir plates along their axis of rotation is similar to van Stockum spacetime. We observe closed timelike curves (CTC’s) forming in the exterior of the system resulting from frame dragging. The exterior geometry of this system is similar to Kerr geometry, but because of violation of ANEC, the Cauchy horizon lies outside the system unlike Kerr blackholes, giving more emphasis on whether spacetime is multiply connected at the microscopic level.展开更多
