The process of the fallen heroin Kitty's awakening and maturity was profound in the theme of this novel. Kitty was a compli-cated character. Without personal financial independence, she married to someone she did not love. Before long, she had a love af-fair stealthily with another man. After her husband found out the truth and Kitty was abandoned by her lover, she was taken to a de-pressed countryside by her husband, in which Kitty witnessed countless life and death. After all these experiences, she changed alot and achieved self-awakening. The mental world of Kitty was worth discussing. Kitty's id, ego and superego will be analyzedfrom the perspective of Freudian consciousness theory in this thesis, so as to study how she changed herself and had such a hugespiritual awakening.展开更多
