Introduction of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography

1.1 General information Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (XIEG), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was established on 7 July, 1998, by merging of two previously exist- ing institutes of CAS, namely Institute of Geography

Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography established three new research departments

Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography（XJEG）,Chinese Academy of Science（CAS）,established three new research departments in 2011.They are Department of Geology Mineralization and Mineral Resources,Department of Environmental Pollution and Process Control, and Department of Central Asian Cooperation and Coordinated Development, respectively. Now, there are a total of eight research departments in XJEG, CAS.

Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography,Chinese Academy of Sciences,successfully manufactured its first mobile wind tunnel

In order to carry out research on sand movement,the simulation of sand dune formation,soil erosion control,sand disaster control,and plant physiology and ecology under wind disturbance,the first mobile wind tunnel of Xinji-ang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences,

State Key Laboratory of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography was successfully founded

Recently, State Key Laboratory of Desert and Oasis Ecology of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography （XIEG）, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was approved by Ministry of Science and Technology of the People＇s Republic of China to be founded.
