At the start of her career in the 1950s, she focused on nutritional anemia that afflicts children, developing treatment and methods of prevention. Later she researched etiology, pathology and physiology of pediatric toxic indigestion, helping to reduce the child death rate from 20 percent to 1 percent. Over the past 20 years, she has concentrated on pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia. As a result, the five-years living rate of the disease treated by Hu’s group has reached 74 percent, approaching the highest level in the world.展开更多
