By taking relevant documents on She Nationality of East Fujian Province for reference, through analysis of characteristic culture and geopolitical background of She community, it was considered that characteristic culture lied in united and friendly community culture, rough and practical sports culture, ancient medicine culture, food culture of mountainous feature and architectural culture. Furthermore, it analyzed response of She community culture to geological space from the perspectives of regional space, geological environment and climate; and pointed out the far-reaching influence of geological space on She community culture.展开更多

However, if properly managed it can stimulate social cohesions, improving the environment and have beneficial economic spin offs for the local communities. This paper discusses the role of communities in the formulation of the policies concerning their local environment. It argues that community engagement by policy makers is important in giving legitimacy and ownership of the policies. Furthermore, this paper discusses the potential of cultural heritage in diversifying the economy in Botswana. This paper recommends for the re-assessment of the relationship between the state and local communities which is critical in resuscitating the seemingly ailing community business organizations. In conclusion, it argues for the sustainable management of cultural heritage as a social and economic resource in the next 50 years of Botswana's independence.展开更多

The soil chemical properties were characterized to fully understand their nature. Metagenomic approach was used to extract soil DNA using the fast DNA Spin Kit extraction technique. The PCR-electrophoresed DNA bands were excised and subjected to a full scale Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis (DGGE) analysis. DGGE fingerprinting for the PCR-16S rDNA product revealed a diverse profile of complex population of bacterial community in the study area. The study shows that more bacterial community can be fully investigated using molecular techniques rather than traditional culture method. The implication of the results obtained is discussed.展开更多

The author applied qualitative method to reveal the possibilities of community-based health care. The in-depth interview and participatory observation were adopted to investigate the context, problems, and current situation from the stakeholders during May to October 2013. The results showed that Wiang Sa district hold the traditional boat racing for more than 177 years. Before 1979, the boat racing was a traditional village collective activity, after that, the tradition has transformed into sports game in which the promotion of community health and tourism has been introduced. Values of boat racing of the people in the community included: (1) Aesthetic value--the unique characteristics of the regatta; (2) spiritual value--religious rites and relating rituals which was the source of the regatta; (3) social value--participation in various stages of racing from mutual thinking and practicing, and benefits among the group of villagers at various ages. Today, the regatta become a social symbol characterized by the community creative culture in many areas: promoting village cooperation, increasing social harmony, valuing the role of women, stimulating non-alcohol racing scheme, creating sharing collective activities for the youth and the elderly, etc. The health promotion, even though it only occurs in a short time of the racing course, especially among the rowers, it is considered as the beginning of building a positive attitude towards community health promotion through the use of the regatta as a social innovation.展开更多

One of the most important programs used to encourage rural developments is the outlay of cultural tourism. Lake Eyasi region is one of the few regions in Tanzania with brilliant cultural heritage resources including archaeological sites and distinctive indigenous cultural traits that cannot be seen in other places across Eastern Africa. Archaeological records of this region exhibit the earliest evidence for hominin morphological change from archaic to modem humans. It is also coherent key development traits including complex lithic technologies and artistic imaginations as it is the case for all living people. Ethnographic research in the region sheds light on the living standards of a modem foraging community that has consistently relied on wildlife resources for several decades. Both archaeological and ethnographical aspects have made this region an enduring attraction for tourists to seek a unique experience and gain an appreciation for the past. Even though there are positive impacts of tourism on rural development, there are potential challenges that need immediate attention.展开更多

文摘The Amish are a marginal outgroup in the United States who have remained far from the center of the dominant society in their nearly 400 year history. This is in part due to a judicious acceptance and adoption of newer technologies,as these are not viewed as vales free. This highly religious community is promoted as a tourist attraction by various states where their communities flourish.Their culture seems quaint or antiquated, though this is partly due to a preference for older methods of labor and production that have stood the test of time and serve to maintain integrity of the culture. The Amish have been persecuted in past for choosing to be a non-violent culture, which has also prohibited their exposure to various technologies.Their history in America runs counter to the culture and experiences of the dominant social culture,as well as many minority cultures.Their endurance and success run counter to much of the development of social welfare milestones and policy in America.Yet,the Amish represent marginal and oppressed people in immigrant history. Many who promote their culture continue to exploit them based upon the misunderstandings of the larger society. Some who write about them perpetuate these misconceptions. This paper seeks to examine critically via the selection of available historical evidence, and through the historical observations of earlier writers raised in Amish tradition, how the Amish view themselves and concerning technology within their culture.
文摘This paper assesses the manner in which a local community has been incorporated into the management and utilization of cultural heritage resources in the lake Eyasi basin, northern Tanzania, in order to reduce poverty. Even though there are positive impacts of tourism on rural development, there are potential challenges that need immediate attention.
