The terms used indicate a mode of coping with the disease aims to understand its meaning in an overall, systematic, broader and more respectful of the patient. The Narrative Based Medicine fortifies clinical practice with the narrative competence to recognize, absorb, metabolize, interpret, and become aware of the stories of the disease. Health professionals can acquire these skills through courses of medical humanities that include the use of different types of narrative text. Narrative medicine uses also literary texts in order to improve narrative and empathic ability of clinicians. This perspective also allows considering the Chekhovian literary work within a holistic vision linking scientific background and literary creativity. The material used for this study is the tale The Typhus by A. Čhekhov adapted from Novels and Theater. The text analysis is conducted with the logical and conceptual tools derived from the Psychology of Art and Creativity and in the perspective of narrative based medicine. In the story we are examining the Russian writer, who never gave up being a medical officer throughout his life, manages to make a perfect synthesis between the scientific background and his literary creativity, combining a careful clinical description of the symptoms of the typhus with evocative depictions of the characters and the environment he captured with brushstrokes capable of creating a picture having a purely artistic value and meaning. Narrative based medicine, which also makes use of narrative about the disease written by physicians or patients or even by medical patients, is a good opportunity for the medicine to go beyond the technocratic vision of the scientific evidence and draw closer to the wholeness of the experience of individual patients.展开更多

In fact, reading and writing are no longer limited exclusively to books, rather they are associated with diversified digital media integrating text, sound, image, and video. In this context, we developed an exploratory study in a kindergarten with the children and their family members. Data were collected through participant observation, children conversational interviews, and digital narratives produced by children. Data analysis is based on content analysis with NVivo software support. The emergence of literacy is evident in verbal interactions in peer-group work, in contact with the written text, in "writing" in various media, and in sharing knowledge, discoveries, and digital narratives produced in an online community (http://janelajardim.ning.com). This paper presents: (1) a systematic literature review in the field of digital narrative and emergent literacy; (2) the description of children's activities concerning interactive multimodal narrative; (3) the results of this work; and (4) the conclusion about contribution of multimodal narratives to the emergence of reading, writing, and digital skills展开更多

It aims to focus on and discuss relations between technology and literature within its contemporary social context and to understand their complex and dynamic interrelations of interest regarding musealization. This paper will discuss the source base, methods and theory. The source base consists of literary publications appearing throughout the twentieth century. These texts, with originate from various authors, both classic and anonymous (novels, poetry, short stories, popular literature, news columns), illustrate the action of/in the history of individuals and populations in relation to the Tua Valley, River, line and train, over the course of more than 100 years. Narratives, characters, events and episodes in various timeframes make up the set of literary fictions that provide an approximate and sensitive vision of the Tun Valley and realities around the construction, operation and closing of the railway line. Memories, identities, and historical contexts where norms, customs and social representations operate under various logics or social worlds which illustrate, by means of the fictional production of an imaginary realism, the socio-historical meaning of the Tua Valley and line. The methods employed are a longitudinal qualitative analysis of the occurrence of these themes during this period, and a socio-historical content analysis, drawing from literary studies, which aims to identify the main patterns of fictional narrative, in which sociotechnical knowledge regarding railways was packaged. The interdisciplinary analysis which is made is developed in the socio-historical framework (M. Block), the "sociology of action" (Thevenot & Boltanski), the theory of social representations (Durkheim) and literature theory (Todorov) and aims to open other avenues of academic research on this topic.展开更多
