We propose a novel approach that combines classic Young's doublet with an OV source to effectively identify the OV mode through the analysis of interference patterns. The interference patterns of the OV source incident on the double slits can be perfectly illustrated by using both the classical double-slit interference method and the Huygens–Fresnel principle. The interference fringes will twist along the negative or positive direction of x axis when topological charge(TC)l>0 or l<0, and the degree of the movement varies with the TC, allowing for a quantitative display of the OV characteristics through the interference patterns. Additionally, we deduce analytically that the zeroth-order interference fringe has a linear relationship with the TC and the vertical position. These findings highlight the ability to identify the OV mode by analyzing the interference patterns produced by Young's doublet.展开更多

Specimens of bending cylinder under gravity are used to avoid contact problem between testing device and sample, and a beam model is presented for evaluating the curvatures of gel beams with large elastic deformation. A self-adaptive algorithm is also proposed to search for the best estimation of gels' elastic moduli by comparing the experimental bending curvatures with those computed from the beam model with preestimated moduli. Application to the measurement of the property of polyacrylamide gels indi- cates that the material compliance varies with the concentrations of bis-acrylamide, and the gels become softer after being immersed in a culture medium for a period of time, no matter to what extent they are polymerized.展开更多

There is even the possibility of solidification of the confined layer. To judge the stiffness of such a layer, we used the Hertz model to calculate the Young's modulus of the polymer layer in the confinement of AFM experiments with silicon nitride tip with a radius of curvature ofR ≈ 50 nm and a glass sphere attached to the cantilever R =5 μm. Since there is no visible indentation of the layer in the AFM experiments, the layer is either penetrated very easily, or the indentation is too small to be seen in a force curve. The latter would be the case for a polymer layer with a Young's modulus above 4 × 10^8 Pa in case of an experiment with a silicon nitride tip and 4×10^5 Pa in case of a glass sphere.展开更多

Based on the FEM results analysis, two methods was proposed to separate film's reduced Young's modulus from a film/substrate system. The Macroscopic Young’s Modulus of granular packing rock layers is far less than the Young’s Modulus of sand particle. The Macroscopic Young’s Modulus of granular packing rock layers is proportioned to the powers of 1/3 of the vertical contact force of sand particles. The Macroscopic Young’s Modulus is inversely proportional to particle diameter. The paper calculated the vertical contact force of five types aligning mode of the particles. When equal stress, the increased of the coordination number lead to the decrease of the contact force fn, this lead to the coordination number is an inverse proportion to Macroscopic Young’s Modulus. But the larger coordination number change only means very little Macroscopic Young’s Modulus change.展开更多

The modulus and the number average diameter of mica aggregates in matrix were determined with tensile testing and image analysis respectively. The interface structure of the filler/matrix and the bulk structure of matrix were examined through the dielectric spectrometry, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic viscoelastic spectrometry. The results show that the Young's modulus of the filial polyethylene depends to a great extent upon the state of dispersion of filler in matrix, but it is independent of the interface structure and bulk structure. The better the dispersion, the higher the Young's modulus.展开更多

文摘The elastic-plastic indentation properties of materials with varying ratio of hardness to Young’s modulus(H/E) were analyzed with the finite element method. And the indentation stress fields of materials with varying ratio H/E on the surface were studied by the experiment. The results show that the penetration depth, contact radius, plastic pile-up and the degree of elastic recovery depend strongly on the ratio H/E. Moreover, graphs were established to describe the relationship between the elastic-plastic indentation parameters and H/E. The established graphs can be used to predict the H/E of materials when compared with experimental data.
文摘Based on the Hertzian granular contact mechanics model, the paper built up a Macroscopic Young’s Elastic Modulus of particle/granular packing rock layers, and built up a ties to connecting Young’s Elastic Modulus of sand particle in Meso and the Macroscopic Young’s Modulus of granular packing rock layers. But the larger coordination number change only means very little Macroscopic Young’s Modulus change.

文摘The correlation between Young's modulus of mica-filled high density polyethylene (HDPE), low density polyethylene(LDPE) and the state of dispersion of plasma-treated mica in the polymer matrices was studied. The better the dispersion, the higher the Young's modulus.

文摘In this paper, the dependencies of Young's modulus and attenuation decrement on samarium sulfide polycrystals(SmS)under various annealing temperatures are studied by the piezoelectric ultrasonic composite oscillator technique at a frequency of 100 kHz in the temperature range of 80-300 K.A decrease in Young's modulus with an increase of the annealing temperature due to the texturing of the material was revealed. At the same time, attenuation peaks were observed at temperatures about 90 and 125 K,presumably due to Niblett-Wilks and Bordoni relaxations.

文摘Integrated computational materials engineering(ICME)is to integrate multi-scale computational simulations and key experimental methods such as macroscopic, mesoscopic, and microscopic into the whole process of Al alloys design and development, which enables the design and development of Al alloys to upgrade from traditional empirical to the integration of compositionprocess-structure-mechanical property, thus greatly accelerating its development speed and reducing its development cost. This study combines calculation of phase diagram(CALPHAD),Finite element calculations, first principle calculations, and microstructure characterization methods to predict and regulate the formation and structure of composite precipitates from the design of highmodulus Al alloy compositions and optimize the casting process parameters to inhibit the formation of micropore defects in the casting process, and the final tensile strength of Al alloys reaches420 MPa and Young's modulus reaches more than 88 GPa,which achieves the design goal of the high strength and modulus Al alloys, and establishes a new mode of the design and development of the strength/modulus Al alloys.
