In recent years, Z-source inverters (ZSI) have been proposed as an replacement power conversion concept which it has both voltage buck and boost abilities. In addition, ZSI doesn’t require dead-time to protection short circuit at two switches any of the same phase leg in the inverter bridge and to achieve optimal harmonic of current, voltage. This paper presents two different control methods (CM) for ZSI. The aim of this study to compare between two modulation methods, there are modi?ed space vector pulse width modulation method (MSVM) and the simple boost control (SBC) about the unique harmonic performance features, the total average and peak switching device power of the inverter system. In addition, this paper also analyzes about the ability exceed modulation index in linear region of two CM using MATLAB/Simulink. 展开更多

The zero-sequence current flows through the fourth leg of the three-phase four-leg inverter so the three-phase four-leg inverter can work with unbalanced load. This paper presents a Z-source three-phase four-leg inverter which combines a Z-source network with three-phase four-leg inverter. The circuit uses simple SPWM modulation technique and the fourth bridge arm uses fully compensated control method. A New Switching Scheme for Z-source Inverter to Minimize Ripples in the Z-source Elements

This paper presents a modification in pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme with unequal shoot-through distribution for the Z-source inverter (ZSI) which can minimize ripples in the current through the Z-source inductors as well as the voltage across the Z-source capacitors. For the same system parameters, the proposed control technique provides better voltage boost across the Z-source capacitor, DC-link, and also the AC output voltage than the traditional PWM. The ripples in the Z-network elements are found to be reduced by 75 % in the proposed modulation scheme with optimum harmonic profile in the AC output. Since the Zqnetwork requirement will be based on the ripple profile of the elements, the Z-network requirements can be greatly reduced. The effectiveness of the proposed modulation scheme has been simulated in Matlab/Simulink software and the results are validated by the experiment in the laboratory. 展开更多

This script depicts the power quality intensification of Wind Energy Transfer System (WETS) using Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) and Cascaded Multi Cell Trans-Z-Source Inverter (CMCTZSI). The PMSG knocks the induction generator and earlier generators, because of their stimulating performances without taking the frame power. The Trans-Z-Source Inverter with one transformer and one capacitor is connected newly. To increase the boosting ratio gratuity a cascaded impression is proposed with adopting multi-winding transformer which provides an option for this manuscript to use coupled inductor as an alternative of multi-winding transformer and remains the matching voltage gain as cascaded multi cell trans-Z- source inverter. Accordingly the parallel capacitances are also balancing the voltage gain. The parallel correlation of the method is essentially to trim down the voltage stresses and to improve the input current gain of the inverter. By using MALAB Simulation, harmonics can be reduced up to 1.32% and also DC side can be boosted up our required level 200 - 1000 V achievable. The new hardware setup results demonstrate to facilitate the multi cell Trans Z-source inverter. This can be generated high-voltage gain [50 V - 1000 V] and also be credible. This new topology, besides the self-boost property, has low switch count and it can operate as a buck-boost inverter. As a result, the new embedded controlled reduced switch Z-source inverter system provides ride through capability during voltage sags, reduces line harmonics, improves power factor, reliability and extends output voltage range. Here the output will have no significant decrease in the amplitude and quality. Instead of diodes, the triacs are added to the inverter source ends, as it can perform a bidirectional power transfer also it can operate well in both low and high voltage operating conditions. The faulted part can be isolated by simply altering the firing pulses for turning on/off the triacs using the carrier based SPWM technique and resulting in a boosting output with zero common mode voltage. Consequently, it forms a common floating point or null point with a zero common mode voltage. It is experimentally verified by using MATLAB, and digital oscilloscope. 展开更多

The 3Φinduction motor is a broadly used electric machine in industrial applications,which plays a vital role in industries because of having plenty of beneficial impacts like low cost and easiness but the problems like decrease in motor speed due to load,high consumption of current and high ripple occurrence of ripples have reduced its preferences.The ultimate objective of this study is to control change in motor speed due to load variations.An improved Trans Z Source Inverter(ΓZSI)with a clamping diode is employed to maintain constant input voltage,reduce ripples and voltage overshoot.To operate induction motor at rated speed,different controllers are used.The conventional Proportional-Inte-gral(PI)controller suffers from high settling time and maximum peak overshoot.To overcome these limitations,Fractional Order Proportional Integral Derivative(FOPID)controller optimized by Gray Wolf Optimization(GWO)technique is employed to provide better performance by eliminating maximum peak overshoot pro-blems.The proposed speed controller provides good dynamic response and controls the induction motor more effectively.The complete setup is implemented in MATLAB Simulation to verify the simulation results.The proposed approach provides optimal performance with high torque and speed along with less steady state error. 展开更多

Nonlinear loads in the power distribution system cause non-sinusoidal currents and voltages with harmonic components.Shunt active filters(SAF) with current controlled voltage source inverters(CCVSI) are usually used to obtain balanced and sinusoidal source currents by injecting compensation currents.However,CCVSI with traditional controllers have a limited transient and steady state performance.In this paper,we propose an adaptive dynamic programming(ADP) controller with online learning capability to improve transient response and harmonics.The proposed controller works alongside existing proportional integral(PI) controllers to efficiently track the reference currents in the d-q domain.It can generate adaptive control actions to compensate the PI controller.The proposed system was simulated under different nonlinear(three-phase full wave rectifier) load conditions.The performance of the proposed approach was compared with the traditional approach.We have also included the simulation results without connecting the traditional PI control based power inverter for reference comparison.The online learning based ADP controller not only reduced average total harmonic distortion by 18.41%,but also outperformed traditional PI controllers during transients. 展开更多

This paper develops a flexible power regulation and limitation strategy of voltage source inverters(VSIs)under unbalanced grid faults.When the classical power theory is used under unbalanced grid faults,the power oscillations and current distortions are inevitable.In the proposed strategy,the extended power theory is introduced to compute the power feedbacks together with the classical power theory.Based on the combination of the classical and extended power theory,the proposed strategy can achieve the sinusoidal current provision and the flexible regulation between three common targets,i.e.,constant active power,balanced current,and constant reactive power.Meanwhile,the proposed strategy is associated with a power limiter,which is capable to keep the currents under the pre-defined threshold and to compute the maximum apparent power for better utilization of the inverter capacity.With this power limiter,the rated inverter capacity is fully used for both the active and reactive power provisions under unbalanced grid faults.Using the proposed power regulation and limitation,the VSI can avoid overcurrent tripping and flexibly regulate its power under unbalanced grid faults.All the conclusions are verified by the real-time hardware-in-loop tests. 展开更多

The proposed converter is able to apply asymmetrical DC sources. The configuration of the proposed inverter is well designed in order to provide the maximum number of voltage levels in output terminals using lower number of circuit devices. The authority of the proposed inverter versus the conventional H-bridge cascaded inverter and the most recently introduced ones, is verified with a provided comparison study. The proposed inverter is able to generate the desired voltage levels using a lower number of circuit devices including power semi-conductor switches, IGBTs, diodes, related gate driver circuits of switches and DC voltage sources. As a result, the total cost and installation area are considerably reduced and the control scheme gets simpler. To confirm the feasibility of the proposed multilevel structure, both the simulation and experimental results are provided and compared which shows good agreements. 展开更多

In this structure many important parameters which are effective on voltage source inverter operation that among them we can mention to modulation index (MI). Variation of modulation index can change the THD. One of the harmonic reduction methods is using multilevel structure. In this paper, a sample 5-level SHE-PWM voltage source inverter is presented and all equation and choosing switching angles for elimination desired harmonics from different order. To investigate the effective parameters on the inverter operation, a typical 5-level inverter is simulated in PSPICE software. The photovoltaic grid-connected inverter is an important interface between the photovoltaic power generation system and power grid.Its high-quality operation is directly related to the output power quality of the power grid.In order to further optimize the control effect of the quasi-Z source grid-connected photovoltaic inverter,a fuzzy proportional complex integral control(PCI)method is proposed for the current internal loop control.This method can eliminate the steady-state error,and has the characteristic of zero steady-state error adjustment for the AC disturbance signal of a specific frequency.The inductance-capacitance-inductance(LCL)filter is adopted in the grid-connected circuit,and the feedback capacitive current is taken as the control variable of the inner loop to form the active damping control method,which can not only effectively suppress the resonance of the LCL circuit,but also significantly inhibit the high-order harmonics in the grid-connected current.Finally,a system simulation model is built in MATLAB/Simulink to verify the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

A control strategy of sine-sine pulse width modulation (PWM) is studied. Compared with the traditional current-source inverter, the power frequency inductors and power frequency transformer are replaced with high frequency inductors and a high frequency transformer. Thus, the proposed inverter has advantages of small volume, low cost, low total harmonic distortion (THD), low power losses, high power factor (PF) and simple control. Furthermore, grid voltage cannot influence output current of the grid-connected inverter and the current-source inverter with a high PF that approaches one has been realized. Finally, validity of the theory analysis and feasibility of the control scheme are shown by simulation and experimental results. 展开更多

In this manuscript it is proposed and demonstrated that how an ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System) can be used in the control of a Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) connected to the grid. Volatile changes in the gird parameters rising by its variable demands and other related issues may humiliate the efficiency with which power can be injected into the grid. The system becomes a higher order one with the filters used at the terminal of the Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) along with the parameters of the grid which change from time to time. Single time tuned mathematical controllers like the PID variants are not suitable for such applications. Considering the increased order of the system and the associated non-linearity we have to look out for intelligent controllers. An ANFIS based control is found to be promising;the development and implementation of one such are demonstrated in this paper using the MATLAB SIMULINK platform and through experimental verification using the Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) Microcontroller Advanced RISC Machine (ARM) processor as the central controller for the VSI. 展开更多
