The consensus that alternating MS in loess-paleosols in China was due to the strengthening and weakening of the East Asian palaeomonsoon provides an excellent climate record when correlated with global ice volume. Significantly, new basal dates from the red clay underlying the loess-paleosol sequence indicate that wind-blown dust began to accumulate on the Chinese Loess Plateau at least 22 million years ago. The configuration of a fully collapsed ring is considered as a real dumbbell shape with a line touch between two 'bells', instead of the dumbbell shape with a point touch of two diametrically opposite points. Calculations are performed assuming that the dominant effect on the plastic energy dissipation has the circumferential bending mode. For the linear strain-hardening materials it is found that theoretical predictions based on the above model for both propagation pressure and initiation nressure are in good agreement with experimental results of Kyriakides et al. 展开更多

The geological process related with it has become a research focus during recent years. The most important dissolution fluids to carbonates are probably H2S and CO2 as byproducts of sulfate reduction in deep-buried setting with sulfate minerals, but carbonates are more soluble in relatively low temperature, which is the so-called retrograde solubility. Several geological processes can result in the decrease of temperature, including the upward migration of thermal fluids and tectonic uplift. 展开更多

An approach of stochastically statistical mechanics and a unified molecular theory of nonlinear viscoelasticity with constraints of Nagai chain entanglement for polymer melts have been proposed. A multimode model structure for a single polymer chain with n tail segments and N reversible entanglement sites on the test polymer chain is developed. Based on the above model structure and the mechanism of molecular flow by the dynamical reorganization of entanglement sites, the probability distribution function of the end-to-end vectr for a single polymer chain at entangled state and the viscoelastic free energy of deformation for polymer melts are calculated by using the method of the stochastically statistical mechanics. The four types of stress-strain relation and the memory function are derived from this thery. The above theoretical relations are verified by the experimentaf data for various polymer melts. It is shown theoretically that the viscoelasticity of polymer melts is determined by three combining factorst they are the primary molecular weight and its distribution, the number of entanglement sites on polymer chain and the sequence distribution of constituent chains in entanglement spacings. A unified quantity for the three combing factors is the average constrained dimensional number of constituent chains in the long entanglement spacings (v). A new relation of v to the primary molecular weight and the number of testing polymers were derived from the multiple entanglement and reptation model, and a new method for determining v was proposed. The dependences of linear viscoelastic functions on the primary molecular weight and its distribution were derived by the statistical method. When Mn=6Me to 18 Me, the values of (v) can range from 3.33 to 3.70. Their values are in a good agreement with the experiment data, and it can slightjy vary with the different species of polymers and the different ranges of molecular weight of polymers 展开更多

A New Fractional Model for the Falling Body Problem

Recently, a conformable fractional derivative has been proposed to calculate the derivative of non-integer order of time functions. It has been shown that this new fractional derivative definition obeys many advantages over the preceding definitions. For mathematical models in applied sciences and to preserve the dimensionality of the physical quantities, an auxiliary parameter (~r) which has the dimension of seconds should be implemented in the fractional derivative definition. We obtain analytic solutions for the resulting conformable fractional differential equations describing the vertical velocity and the height of the falling body. It is shown that the dimensions of velocity and height are always correct without any restrictions on the auxiliary parameter cr which contradicts with the results in the literature when applying the Caputo definition to the same problem. This may open the door for many future works either to describe the role of such an auxiliary parameter or to derive a more suitable definition for the fractional derivative. 展开更多

A three dimensional numerical model based on the Reynolds equations is presented that can be used to predict the surface water flow in open channels.The model uses a computational mesh that conforms to the free water sur- face and the bottom of the channel so that the accuracy of boundary condition application,code complexity,and e- conomy could be enhanced.The k-ε turbulence model is used to estimate the eddy viscosity coefficient.Instead of using the“rigid-lid”approximation a 2-D equation derived from integrating the continuity equation over the total depth is adopted to determine the elevation of the free water surface.A new algorithm is presented based on the conventional SIMPLE procedure.The block correction technique is employed to enhance rate of convergence. The model presented is applied to a bottom discharge into a rectangular straight channel for three dimensional phenomena to obtain the free water surface configuration,velocities and pressure.The computed results are in good agreement with the previous experimental values. 展开更多

The average relative simulation and prediction percentage errors of the new model are only 0.092%and 3.023%,respectively.The simulation and prediction errors obtained from the classical GM(1,1)and the DGM(1,1)models are,respectively,2.064%and 6.980%in the first case,and 1.942%and 7.360%in the second.The findings show that the GM(1,1,4)model has the best performance,which confirms the effectiveness of the structure improvement.The new model can enhance the smoothness of the background value and weaken the effects of extreme values in the raw sequence in the model’s performance.Therefore,the simulation and prediction performances of the GM(1,1,4)model are better than those of the traditional grey prediction models.The prediction show that the ownership for automobiles in China will grow rapidly in future.Findings could help the government in formulating adjustments to the industrial structures,and facilitate making rational yield plans for automobile firms. 展开更多

A new non-Euclidean continuum damage model is proposed to investigate the zonal disintegration phenomenon of the surrounding rocks around deep spherical tunnels under hydrostatic pressure condition as well as the total elastic stress field distributions.The elastic stress fields of the surrounding rocks around deep spherical tunnels under hydrostatic pressure condition axe obtained.If the elastic stresses of the surrounding rocks satisfy the strength criterion of the deep rock masses,the number,size and location of fractured and nonfractured zones are determined.The effect of physico-mechanical parameters of the surrounding rocks on the zonal disintegration phenomenon is studied and numerical computation is carried out.It is found from numerical results that the number,size and location of fractured and non-fractured zones are sensitive to the physico-mechanical parameters of the surrounding rocks. 展开更多
