Application of Academic Salons in Cultivating the Scientific Research Skills of First-Year Nursing Master’s Students

Objective:To explore the application effect of academic salons on developing the scientific research skills of first-year nursing master’s students.Methods:According to Wallas’four-stage model of the creative process,from November 2022 to February 2023,66 first-year nursing master’s students from the School of Nursing at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University were selected using a convenient sampling method to participate in a multidisciplinary academic salon consisting of a total of 8 sessions held once every two weeks.Before the first and after the last academic salon,postgraduate research skills evaluation questionnaires and perception of research skills acquisition questionnaires were used to assess first-year nursing master’s students.A semi-structured interview was conducted with nine students after the final academic salon.Results:The total scores for scientific research skills and sense of achievement among first-year nursing master’s students after the academic salon were higher than those before the salon,and the difference was statistically significant.The interview results showed that the“salon theme,”“tutor comments,”and“sharer output”are the focus of the first-year nursing master’s students in the academic salon.Conclusions:Academic salons can enhance postgraduate students’scientific research skills and foster a greater appreciation for scientific research.We can enhance academic salons by carefully choosing relevant themes,inviting knowledgeable presenters and expert tutors to provide feedback,and prioritizing equality and effective communication.

The“Top 50 High Impact Researches of Traditional Medicine”published in 2021

In recent years,significant progress has been achieved in both basic and clinical research within the field of traditional medicine,garnering increasing attention worldwide.To further promote a high-quality and international development of traditional medicine,the editorial board of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine provided a collection of the“Top 50 High-impact Researches of Traditional Medicine”published in 2021 through objective indicators and a strict selection process.The findings of the selected articles have a significant academic influence and possess considerable academic value both nationally and internationally.The selected articles cover a wide range of topics,including clinical research,acupuncture,pharmacology,chemistry,biosynthesis,medicinal plant resources,and new formulation and drug delivery system research on traditional medicine.Therefore,this article outlines the selection process of the top 50 high-impact research articles,analyzes their research characteristics,and provides a brief summary of their new findings and perspectives in the field of traditional medicine.

Research as a Veritable Tool for Enhancing Students’ Job Creation in the 21st Century University Education

This study explores the role of research as a tool for enhancing students’job creation in the context of 21st-century university education.The survey research design was the approach used for this investigation.The researcher created a questionnaire to collect pertinent data for the study from 200 respondents.The questionnaire was duly validated by 3 experts.The internal reliability of the instrument was examined in this study using Cronbach’s alpha(α).Cronbach’s alpha method is able to determine the correlation between the outcomes of each test item and the test’s total score.Google Forms was used to deliver the survey to the respondents electronically.A statistical package was used to calculate the mean and standard deviation.The study hypotheses were also investigated using inferential statistics(t-test)with 198 degrees of freedom and a 0.05 threshold of significance.To determine whether to accept or reject the null hypothesis,the critical value and estimated t-value are compared.Findings suggest that research-oriented education positively impacts students’ability to create job opportunities in the 21st century.Engaging in research projects fosters critical thinking,creativity,and adaptability among students,enabling them to identify and capitalize on emerging trends and market gaps.Furthermore,the study reveals the significance of university-industry collaborations and mentorship programs in enhancing students’entrepreneurial skills and connecting them with practical resources and networks.The implications of this research are significant for educational policymakers,university administrators,and curriculum developers,as it underscores the importance of incorporating research as an integral component of 21st-century university education.

The Optimization Path of Research Support Services in University Libraries from the Perspective of Affordance Theory

University libraries,as an integral component of university research capabilities,are tasked with serving education by providing research support to faculty and students.This study adopts an affordance research perspective originating from ecological psychology to explore the optimization path of research support services in libraries in the new media era.Based on the characteristics of university library services,this research analyzes three aspects:production affordance,mobile affordance,and social affordance,and proposes practical recommendations to guide future research service practices of university libraries.

Extracting a Heterogeneous Social Network of AcademicResearchers on the Web Based on Information Retrieved from Multiple Sources

The majority of academic researchers present the results of their scientific activity on the Web. This trace can be used to derive useful information of their past, present activity and forecast the future intentions. Hence, social network of academic researchers can be of important value for scientific community. This information can be retrieved from various data source currently available on the Web. From each of them a separate net-work can be built. In this paper we present a method which can be used to combine multiple single-relational networks into a single network which will combine all relations, hence it will be multi-relational.

Transforming the academic library for the future

Purpose: To meet the changing needs of academic and specialized users,university and research libraries are transforming their collections,staff,and services. At the UCLA Library,four principles underlie changes that have been made to support teaching,learning,and research by UCLA students,faculty,researchers,and staff. Efforts have focused on building and enhancing research collections,enriching the student experience through expanded teaching and learning services,transforming the Library's role to support the entire research process,and re-conceptualizing the physical and virtual spaces of the Library to create an expansive and flexible scholarly environment. To support and inform these efforts,the Library is building a robust research agenda and deepening opportunities for faculty engagement.These changes challenge the traditional model of library staffing,and the Library has responded by identifying new areas in which leadership is needed and new recruitment tracks for academic appointments. Implementing such a transformative process has many stakeholders and requires broad input,discussion,and committed engagement to ensure its success.Design/methodology/approach: The UCLA Library has developed its strategic planning process over several years building on broad constituent input,unit and individual work plans,and constituent feedback. The process is high level as well as operational in nature and draws on basic metrics to motivate change.Findings: The four principles of the transition have been sustained over a period of years.Implications and limitations: This article is the personal observation of the author drawing on his own leadership experience and informed by the senior management and staff of the UCLA Library.Originality/value: The process and direction of this transition are focused on the UCLA Library and its role in the UCLA academy.

A Hands-on Approach Towards the Application of Research Methods in Academic Paper Writing

Based on an extensive summary of existing literature together with a random sampling of 70 graduate theses at the author’s university and 30 papers submitted to journals,which the author was entrusted to review,the present paper has addressed the novice researchers’common concern of research method application by defining and categorizing research methods and the related terms,combing and discussing the techniques for qualitative,quantitative,and mixed research methods in accordance with different research questions,and finally illustrating and explaining our viewpoints with real-life samples and comments.

A causational analysis of scholars' years of active academic careers vis-à-vis their academic productivity and academic influence

Taking the scholarly activities of 73 doctoral program mentors working at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College(the CAMS &PUMC) as a sample of our investigative survey, we tried using such statistical methods as the analysis of variance(ANOVA), factor analysis and correlation analysis to compare the different characteristics of scholarship assessment of Chinese medical scholars as exhibited in their published papers in domestic and foreign journals. Our research findings show that citations per paper and A-index are more suitable for assessing the highly accomplished senior Chinese medical professionals(e.g. academicians) for their domestic and international scholarship attainment. In contrast, the m-quotient is not deemed appropriate to assess their academic influence both at home and abroad. Upon our further analysis of 6 evaluative indicators, we noticed that these indicators might be applied in two different aspects: One is from the viewpoint of Chinese scholars' academic influence at home, which has been evaluated mainly from the perspective of 'total' amount and 'average' amount of both publications and citations. The other is from their academic impact embodied by the means of documents retrieved from the Web of Science, which is mainly assessed from the two viewpoints of publications and citations. It is suggested that the accumulated time-length of a given scholar's active engagement in professional practice in a specific subject area be taken into consideration while assessing a researcher's performance at home and abroad.

学术人才流动可以提高科研产出吗?

学术人才的流动一直是学术共同体推动科研生产的重要议题,但是其流动是否能够真正提高科研产出却仍然存在争议。以教育部长江学者特聘教授为样本,使用计量模型检验流动对学者科研产出的影响作用。回归结果表明,流动能够推动学者科研产出的提升,特别是对学者英文发表有着显著的促进效应。以匹配激励效应和知识重组效应展开回归结果的解释和讨论,结合中国高等教育和科技创新国际化发展趋势,匹配激励效应被认为是其中的主要作用机制。政府应完善学术人才流动的制度环境,探索建立对人才流出高校的利益补偿机制,以推动学术人才在学术共同体内的有序流动,同时也要更加注重和引导流动知识重组效应的发挥。

中国高等教育话语体系的内涵及建设路径

话语体系在很大程度上是一个时代的社会面貌及其走向的反映。中国高等教育经历了“以苏为师”话语体系的抉择、“革命化”话语体系的滥觞、“学科化”话语体系的反思、“自主性”话语体系的自省四个阶段,面临着构建自主话语体系的新要求。“谁在说”“说什么”“如何说”是理解话语体系内涵的关键所在。理论与实践之争、本土化与西化之辩反映了话语体系建构的现实境遇和不同立场。坚持高等教育学科化建设、坚持高等教育研究切入实践、坚持高等教育交融互鉴是高等教育话语体系建构的基本路径。

学术领导力:高校有组织科研的重要引擎

在知识经济时代,产业技术变革浪潮不断涌动,提升国家科技力量成为中国式现代化强国建设的迫切诉求。高校为国家取得国际科研战略博弈中的主动权提供了强有力支撑。为此,教育部提出有组织科研并强调,研究目标以突破核心技术为导向,兼顾多方利益;研究主体以创新人才为根本,储备科研力量;研究过程以学科交叉为基础,凝聚集群式研究力。从高校开展有组织科研现况来看,存在发展目标模糊、科研人力资源不足、学科融合进程缓慢、多方协同效果不佳等问题。基于鲍曼和迪尔的多元学术领导力理论,构建了高校有组织科研的结构、人力资源、政治和象征等四个维度学术领导力分析框架,有助于破除当前高校有组织科研的实践困境。在高校科研实践中应明确团队总体目标,引领科研发展方向;科学选拔人才,建立动态自适应性科研队伍;塑造团队学术文化,加强人际互通协作力;推进学科融合进程,组织引导性科研合作。

面向留学生的高校图书馆嵌入式学术规范教育优化策略研究——以复旦大学图书馆为例

高校图书馆的学术规范教育能有效预防留学生的学术不端行为,提高留学生规范写作学术论文的能力。文章采用行动研究法,以复旦大学图书馆与复旦大学国际文化交流学院合作开展的面向留学生的嵌入式学术规范教育活动为研究对象,了解高校留学生学术规范教育现状和需求,梳理目前国内高校留学生在学术活动和学术规范教育中存在的问题,并从构建多层次的教育内容体系、丰富教学形式、加强馆员跨文化教学能力建设、促进图书馆与校内机构合作等方面探讨了优化策略。

以学术研究为基础的大学教师分类评价改革创新研究

在大学教师分类评价改革中,尤其是对教学型与社会服务型教师的评价存在着轻学术研究的倾向。高校立身之本在于立德树人。大学教师以通过学术研究与教学培养德才兼备之人才为己任。作为学术研究者,大学教师的教学与社会服务是以其学术研究为基础的,这是大学区别于其他社会组织的本质特征。大学教师学术研究者的身份与教学和社会服务的基本角色是大学教师分类评价的根本依据。在大学教师分类评价改革中,要坚持以学术研究为基础,既不能割裂研究与教学的内在联系,也不能剥离学术与服务的相互关系。在大学教师分类评价改革中要坚持以学术为标准的价值取向。坚持同行评议优先原则,加强大学教师在分类评价中的实质性参与。注重大学教师整体学术能力的综合性评价,以学术的标准衡量教师学术研究的质量。

基于深度学习的学生学习行为规制路径研究

由于自身和外部环境因素的影响,在线上线下混合式教学中,学生会出现一些问题学习行为,而问题学习行为必将弱化学习效果,无法实现深度学习。通过线上线下混合式教学中的学生学习行为,总结教学过程中普遍存在的三个问题:学习目标价值偏离,线上即时引导面临挑战;线下教学模式依赖固化,线上即时指导存在障碍;评价未适用混合式教学,评价结果效用缺位。在此基础上,以规制学生学习行为为目标,提出价值引导、任务驱动及立体评价三个机制。在三个规制机制的指导下,把课程的教学设计作为一种学术研究,在《隧道工程》教学中针对性地创设不同的规制措施,并观测学生的反馈效果。再通过发放问卷调查课程教学的效用,结果表明,该教学设计可以有效增强学生知识习得和优化学习行为,有效促进深度学习的实现。
