In this work, we report a novel bifunctional catalyst (Fe-PEI-CN) by codoping graphitic carbon nitride (CN) with polyethyleneimine ethoxylated (PEI) and Fe species, which demonstrated high activity during p-chlorophenol (p-ClPhOH) degradation via H_(2)O_(2) from the photocatalytic process. The relationship between the catalytic efficiency and the structure was explored using diff erent characterization methods. The Fe modification of CN was achieved through Fe-N coordination, which ensured high dispersion of Fe species and strong stability against leaching during liquid- phase reactions. The Fe modification initiated the Fenton reaction by activating H_(2)O_(2) into ·OH radicals for deep degradation of p-ClPhOH. In addition, it eff ectively promoted light absorption and photoelectron-hole (e-h ^(+) ) separation, corresponding to improved photocatalytic activity. On the other hand, PEI could significantly improve the ability of CN to generate H_(2)O_(2) through visible light photocatalysis. The maximum H_(2)O_(2) yield reached up to 102.6 μmol/L, which was 22 times higher than that of primitive CN. The cooperation of photocatalysis and the self-Fenton reaction has led to high-activity mineralizing organic pollutants with strong durability, indicating good potential for practical application in wastewater treatment.展开更多

Herein, we report a flexible bifunctional oxygen catalyst thin film consisting of Co–N–C bifunctional catalysts embedding in carbon nanotube(CNT) networks. The catalyst is readily prepared by pyrolysis of cobalt-based zeolitic imidazolate frameworks(ZIF-67) that are in-situ synthesized in CNT networks. Such catalyst film demonstrates very high catalytic activities for oxygen reduction(onset potential: 0.91 V, and half-wave potential: 0.87 V vs. RHE) and oxygen evolution(10 m Acm^-2 at 1.58 V) reactions, high methanol tolerance property, and long-term stability(97% current retention). Moreover, our integrated catalyst film shows very good structure flexibility and robustness. Based on the obtained film air electrodes, flexible Zn–air batteries demonstrate low charging and discharging overpotentials(0.82 V at 1 m A cm^-1) and excellent structure stability in the bending tests. These results indicate that presently reported catalyst films are potential air electrodes for flexible metal–air batteries.展开更多

Th...Carbon supported gold-iridium composite(Au Ir/C) was synthesized by a facile one-step process and was investigated as the bifunctional catalyst for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction(OER). The physical properties of the Au Ir/C composite were characterized by transmission electron microscopy(TEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). Although the Au and Ir in the Au Ir/C did not form alloy, it is clear that the introduction of Ir decreases the average Au particle size to 4.2 nm compared to that in the Au/C(10.1 nm). By systematical analysis on chemical state of metal surface via XPS and the electrochemical results, it was found that the Au surface for the Au/C can be activated by potential cycling from 0.12 V to 1.72 V, resulting in the increased surface roughness of Au,thus improving the ORR activity. By the same potential cycling, the Ir surface of the Ir/C was irreversibly oxidized, leading to degraded ORR activity but uninfluenced OER activity. For the Au Ir/C, Ir protects Au against being oxidized due to the lower electronegativity of Ir. Combining the advantages of Au and Ir in catalyzing ORR and OER, the Au Ir/C catalyst displays an enhanced catalytic activity to the ORR and a comparable OER activity. In the 50-cycle accelerated aging test for the ORR and OER, the Au Ir/C displayed a satisfied stability, suggesting that the Au Ir/C catalyst is a potential bifunctional catalyst for the oxygen electrode.展开更多

De...Zinc-air batteries(ZABs) with high energy density and safety are promising as next-generation energy storage systems, while their applications are severely hindered by the sluggish reaction kinetic of air cathodes. Developing a bifunctional catalyst with high activity and durability is an effective strategy to address the above challenges. Herein, a Co_(3)O_(4)/Mn_(3)O_(4) nanohybrid with heterointerfaces is designed as advanced cathode catalyst for ZABs. Density functional theory calculations show the heterogeneous interface between Co_(3)O_(4)/Mn_(3)O_(4) can improve the dynamics of carrier transport and thus enhancing the catalytic activity and durability. The Co_(3)O_(4)/Mn_(3)O_(4) catalyst anchored on reduced graphene oxide(rGO)exhibits high oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) activity with a half-wave potential of 0.86 V, and excellent oxygen evolution reaction(OER) activity with the potential of 1.59 V at 10 mA cm^(-2) , which are comparable to the commercial noble metal catalysts. The improved ORR/OER catalytic activity is ascribed to the synergistic effect of heterointerfaces between Co_(3)O_(4) and Mn_(3)O_(4)as well as the improved conductivity and contact area of oxygen/catalysts/electrolytes three-phase interface by r GO. Furthermore, a home-made ZAB based on Co_(3)O_(4)/Mn_(3)O_(4)/r GO shows a high open circuit voltage of 1.54 V, a large power density of 194.6 mW cm^(-2) and good long-term cycling stability of nearly 400 h at 5 mA cm^(-2) , which affords a promising bifunctional oxygen catalyst for rechargeable ZABs.展开更多

The cooperation of photocatalysis and the self-Fenton reaction has led to high-activity mineralizing organic pollutants with strong durability, indicating good potential for practical application in wastewater treatment.

文摘The electrochemical coupling of biomass oxidation and nitrogen conversion presents a potential strategy for high value-added chemicals and nitrogen cycling.Herein,in this work,CuO/Co_(3)O_(4)with heterogeneous interface is successfully constructed as a bifunctional catalyst for the electrooxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid and the electroreduction of nitrate to ammonia(NH_(3)).The open-circuit potential spontaneous experiment shows that more 5-hydroxymethylfurfural molecules are adsorbed in the Helmholtz layer of the CuO/Co_(3)O_(4)composite,which certifies that the CuO/Co_(3)O_(4)heterostructure is conducive to the kinetic adsorption of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural.In situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy further shows that CuO/Co_(3)O_(4)has faster reaction kinetics and lower reaction potential in oxygen evolution reaction and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural electrocatalytic oxidation.Moreover,CuO/Co_(3)O_(4)also has a good reduction effect on NO_(3)^(-).The ex-situ Raman spectroscopy shows that under the reduction potential, the metal oxide is reduced, and the generated Cu_(2)O can be used as a new active site for the reaction to promote the electrocatalytic conversion of NO_(3)^(-)to NH_(3) synthesis. This work provides valuable guidance for the synthesis of value-added chemicals by 5-hydroxymethylfurfural electrocatalytic oxidation coupled with NO_(3)^(-)while efficiently producing NH_(3).

文摘Recently, the development of high-performance bifunctional oxygen catalysts integrated with flexible conductive scaffolds f or rechargeable metal-air batteries has attracted considerable interest, driving by fastgrowing wearable electronics. These results indicate that presently reported catalyst films are potential air electrodes for flexible metal–air batteries.

文摘Oxygen electrode catalysts are important as inter-conversion of O_(2) and H_(2)O is crucial for energy technologies. However, the sluggish kinetics of oxygen reduction and evolution reactions(ORR and OER)are a hindrance to their scalable production, whereas scarce and costly Pt and Ir/Ru-based catalysts with the highest electrocatalytic activity are commercially unviable.Since good ORR catalysts are not always efficient for OER and vice versa,so bifunctional catalysts on which OER and ORR occurs on the same electrode are very desirable.Alternative catalysts based on heteroatom-doped carbon nanomaterials, though showed good electrocatalytic activity yet their high cost and complex synthesis is not viable for scalable production. To overcome these drawbacks,biomass-derived heteroatom-doped porous carbons have recently emerged as low-cost,earth-abundant,renewable and sustainable environment-friendly materials for bifunctional oxygen catalysts. The tunable morphology, mesoporous structure and high concentration of catalytic active sites of these materials due to heteroatom(N)-doping could further enhance their ORR and OER activity, along with tolerance to methanol crossover and good durability. Thus, biomassderived heteroatom-doped porous carbons with large surface area, rich edge defects, numerous micropores and thin 2 D nanoarchitecture could be suitable as efficient bifunctional oxygen catalysts. In the present article,synthesis,N-doping,ORR/OER mechanism and electrocatalytic performance of biomassderived bifunctional catalysts has been discussed. The selected biomass(chitin, eggs, euonymus japonicas, tobacco, lysine and plant residue)except wood, act as both C and N precursor, resulting in N selfdoping of porous carbons that avoids the use of toxic chemicals, thus making the synthesis a facile and environment-friendly green process. The synthetic strategy could be further optimized to develop future biomass-based N self-doped porous carbons as metal-free high performance bifunctional oxygen catalysts for commercial energy applications.Recent advances and the importance of biomass-based bifunctional oxygen catalysts in metal-air batteries and fuel cells has been highlighted. The material design, perspectives and future directions in this field are also provided.

文摘Carbon supported gold-iridium composite(Au Ir/C) was synthesized by a facile one-step process and was investigated as the bifunctional catalyst for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction(OER). In the 50-cycle accelerated aging test for the ORR and OER, the Au Ir/C displayed a satisfied stability, suggesting that the Au Ir/C catalyst is a potential bifunctional catalyst for the oxygen electrode.

文摘Stable non-noble metal bifunctional electrocatalysts are one of the challenges to the fluctuating overall water splitting driven by re-newable energy.Herein,a novel self-supporting hierarchically porous Ni_(x)Fe-S/NiFe_(2)O_(4) heterostructure as bifunctional electrocatalyst was constructed based on porous Ni-Fe electrodeposition on three-dimensional(3D)carbon fiber cloth,in situ oxidation, and chemical sulfuration. Results showed that the Ni_(x)Fe-S/NiFe_(2)O_(4) heterostructure with a large specific surface area exhibits good bifunctional activity and stability for both hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)because of the abundance of active sites, synergistic effect of the heterostructure, superhydrophilic surface, and stable,self-supporting structure. The results further confirmed that the Ni_(x)Fe-S phase in the heterostructure is transformed into metal oxides/hydroxides and Ni_(3)S_(2) during OER.Compared with the commercial 20wt%Pt/C||IrO_(2)-Ta_(2)O_(5) electrolyzer, the self-supporting Ni1/5Fe-S/NiFe_(2)O_(4)||Ni1/2Fe-S/NiFe_(2)O_(4) electrolyzer exhibits better stability and lower cell voltage in the fluctu-ating current density range of 10-500 mA/cm^(2).Particularly,the cell voltage of Ni1/5Fe-S/NiFe_(2)O_(4)||Ni1/2Fe-S/NiFe_(2)O_(4) is only approximately 3.91 V at an industrial current density of 500 mA/cm^(2),which is lower than that of the 20wt%Pt/C||IrO_(2)-Ta_(2)O_(5) electrolyzer(i.e.,approximately 4.79 V).This work provides a promising strategy to develop excellent bifunctional electrocatalysts for fluctuating overall water splitting.

文摘The design of efficient, stable, and economical electrocatalysts for oxygen and hydrogen evolution reaction(OER and HER)is a major challenge for overall water splitting.Herein,a hierarchical structured CoP/carbon nanofibers(CNFs)composite was successfully synthesized and its potential application as a high-efficiency bifunctional electrocatalyst for overall splitting water was evaluated. The synergetic effect of two-dimensional(2D)CoP nanosheets and on e-dimensi on al(1D)CNFs endowed the CoP/CNFs composites with abundant active sites and rapid electron and mass transport pathways, and thereby significantly improved the electrocatalytic performances. The optimized CoP/CNFs delivered a current density of 10 mA cm^(-2) at low overpotential of 325 mV for OER and 225 mV for HER.In the overall water splitting,CoP/CNFs achieved a low potential of 1.65 V at 10 mA cm^(-2).The facile strategy provided in the present work can facilitate the design and development of multifunctional non-noble metal catalysts for energy applications.

文摘Co-N-C is a promising oxygen electrochemical catalyst due to its high stability and good durability. However, due to the limited adsorption ability improvement for oxygen-containing intermediates,it usually exhibits inadequate catalytic activity with 2-electron pathway and high selectivity of hydrogen peroxide.Herein, the adsorption of Co-N-C to these intermediates is modulated by constructing heterostructures using transition metals and their derivatives based on d-band theory. The heterostructured nanobelts with MoC core and pomegranate-like carbon shell consisting of Co nanoparticles and N dopant(MoC/Co-N-C)are engineered to successfully modulate the d band center of active Co-N-C sites, resulting in a remarkably enhanced electrocatalysis performance. The optimally performing MoC/Co-N-C exhibits outstanding bi-catalytic activity and stability for the oxygen electrochemistry, featuring a high wave-half potential of 0.865 V for the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and low overpotential of 370 mV for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)at 10 mA cm^(-2).The zinc air batteries with the MoC/Co-N-C catalyst demonstrate a large power density of 180 mW cm^(-2)and a long cycling lifespan(2000 cycles). The density functional theory calculations with Hubbard correction(DFT+U)reveal the electron transferring from Co to Mo atoms that effectively modulate the d band center of the active Co sites and achieve optimum adsorption ability with"single site double adsorption"mode.

文摘The high cost, scarcity, and poor stability of precious-metal-based catalysts have hindered their extensive application in energy conversion and storage. This stimulates the search for earth-abundant alternatives to replace noble metal electrocatalysts.Hence,in this study,we investigate a novel and low-cost bifunctional electrocatalyst consisting of ZnCoMnO_(4) anchored on nitrogen-doped graphene oxide(ZnCoMnO_(4)/N-rGO).Benefiting from the strong Co-N interaction in ZnCoMnO_(4) and the coupled conductive N-rGO,the catalysts exhibit high electrocatalytic activity. Moreover, density functional theory calculations support the dominant role of the strong Co-N electronic interaction, which leads to ZnCoMnO_(4)/N-rGO having more favorable binding energies with O2 and H_(2) O,resulting in fast reaction kinetics. The obtained ZnCoMnO_(4)/N-rGO electrocatalyst exhibits superb bifunctional activity, with a half-wave potential of 0.83 V for the oxygen reduction reaction and a low onset potential of 1.57 V for the oxygen evolution reaction in 0.1 M KOH solution.Furthermore,a Zn-air battery driven by the ZnCoMnO_(4)/N-rGO catalyst shows remarkable discharge/charge performance, with a power density of 138.52 mW cm^(-2) and longterm cycling stability for 48 h.This work provides a promising multifunctional electrocatalyst based on non-noble metals for the storage and conversion of renewable energy.

文摘The rational design and development of cost-effective,high-performance,and stable bifunctional oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)electrocatalysts are essential for rechargeable zinc-air batteries.Herein,a novel FeCo composite composed of alloy nanoparticles embedded in an N,S dual-doped carbon matrix(FeCo/NSC)was prepared via one-step carbonization of amphiphilic dodecanethiol-metal salts wrapped in carbon nitride(C_(3)N_(4)).The compact combination of dual metalalloys and dual-doped carbon endowed the composite with the active sites for the ORR and OER,achieving efficient electrical transmission and highly efficient bifunctional catalytic performance. The obtained FeCo-1/NSC catalyst exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity with a half-wave potential of 0.82 V(vs.RHE)for the ORR and a low overpotential of 0.325 V at 10 mA cm^(-2) for the OER.The liquid Zn-air battery with FeCo-1/NSC as an air electrode displayed excellent charge-discharge performance, high power density, and robust charge-discharge stability for 150 h compared to the 20%Pt/C+RuO_(2) counterpart.Furthermore, the FeCo-1/NSC-based flexible solid-state Zn-air battery exhibited a higher power density and good charge-discharge stability over 10 h of operation. Thus,a promising strategy for bifunctional electrocatalyst development as part of rechargeable and wearable Zn-air batteries was provided.

文摘Zinc-air batteries(ZABs) with high energy density and safety are promising as next-generation energy storage systems, while their applications are severely hindered by the sluggish reaction kinetic of air cathodes. Furthermore, a home-made ZAB based on Co_(3)O_(4)/Mn_(3)O_(4)/r GO shows a high open circuit voltage of 1.54 V, a large power density of 194.6 mW cm^(-2) and good long-term cycling stability of nearly 400 h at 5 mA cm^(-2) , which affords a promising bifunctional oxygen catalyst for rechargeable ZABs.

文摘ABO_(3)-type perovskite oxides(e.g.,LaCoO_(3))with flexible and adjustable A-and B-sites are ideal model catalysts to unravel the relationship between the electronic structure and electrocatalytic activity(e.g.,oxygen reduction/evolution reactions,ORR/OER).It has been well understood in our recent work that the secondary metal dopant at B-site(e.g.,Mn in LaMn_(x)Co_(1-x)O_(3))can regulate the electronic structure and improve the ORR/OER activity. In this work, the Mn-Ni pairs are employed as the dual dopant in LaMn_(x)Ni_(y)Co_(z)O_(3)(x+y+z=1)catalysts toward bifunctional ORR and OER.The structure-property relationships between the triple metal B-site(Mn,Ni and Co)and the electrochemical performance are particularly investigated.Compared to the individual Mn doping(e.g.,LaMnCoO3(Mn:Co=1:3)catalyst),the dual Mn-Ni doping significantly improves the ORR mass activity@0.8 V by 1.54 times;meanwhile, the OER overpotential@10 mA cm^(-2) is reduced from 420 to 370 mV,and the OER current density at 1.55 V is increased by 2.43 times.Reasonably, the potential gap between EDRR@-1 mA cm^(-2) and EDER@10 mA cm^(-2) is achieved as only 0.76 V by using the optimal LaMn_(x)Ni_(y)Co_(z)O_(3)(x:y:z=1:2:3)catalyst.It is revealed that the dual Mn-Ni dopant efficiently optimizes electron structures of the LaMnNiCoO_(3)(1:2:3)catalyst,which not only decreases the e_(g) orbital electron number, but also modulates the O 2 p-band closer to the Femi level, accounting for the enhanced bifunctional activity.

文摘A series of ZnO-ZrO_(2) solid solutions with different Zn contents were synthesized by the urea coprecipitation method, which were coupled with H-ZSM-5 zeolite to form bifunctional catalysts. As a new benzene alkylation reagent, syngas was used instead of methanol to realize the efficient conversion of syngas and benzene into toluene and xylene.A suitable ratio of ZnO-ZrO_(2) led to the significant improvement in the catalytic performance, and a suitable amount of acid helped to increase the selectivity of toluene/xylene and reduce the selectivity of the by-products ethylbenzene and C^(9+) aromatics. The highest benzene conversion of 89.2%and toluene/xylene selectivity of 88.7%were achieved over 10%ZnO-ZrO_(2)&H-ZSM-5(Si/Al=23)at a pressure of 3 MPa and a temperature of 450℃.In addition, the effect of the zeolite framework structure on product distribution was examined.Similar to the molecular dynamics of aromatic hydrocarbons,H-ZSM-5 zeolites comprise 10-membered-ring pores, which are beneficial to the activation of benzene;hence, the conversion of benzene is higher.H-ZSM-35 and HMOR zeolites exhibited small eight-membered-ring channels, which were not conducive to the passage of benzene;hence, the by-product ethylbenzene exhibits a higher selectivity. The distance between the active centers of the bifunctional catalysts was the main factor affecting the catalytic performance, and the powder mixing method was more conducive to the conversion of syngas and benzene.
文摘Integrating two different catalytic active sites into one composite is a useful 2-in-1 strategy for designing high-efficient bifunctional catalysts, which can easily tailor the activity of each reaction.Hence,we adopt the 2-in-1 strategy to design the metal oxyhydroxide supported on N-doped porous carbons(PA-CoFe@NPC)as the oxygen bifunctional catalyst, where NPC provides the activity for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)while the metal oxyhydroxide is responsible for oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Results demonstrate that the PA-CoFe@NPC indeed exhibits both super ORR and OER activities.Impressively, using bifunctional PA-CoFe@NPC as the oxygen electrode, the resulting Zn-air battery exhibits outstanding charge and discharge performance with the peak power density of 156.3 mW cm^(-2),and also exhibits a long-term cycle stability with continuous cyclic charge and discharge of 170 hours that is obviously better than the 20%Pt/C+IrO_(2)based one.The 2-in-1 strategy in this work can be efficiently extended to design other bi-or multi-functional electrocatalysts.

文摘A bifunctional heterogeneous catalyst was designed and synthesized, denoted DMEDA/IL–NH2-MIL-101.The structure and physical-chemical characterization of DMEDA/IL–NH2-MIL-101 and its precursors were characterized by SEM,N2 adsorption-desorption,XPS,FT-IR,PXRD,elemental analysis, and TGA techniques. The date showed that the two catalytic components of N,N-dimethylethylenediamine(DMEDA)and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide(BmimBr)were chemically immobilized in NH2-MIL-101 nanocages. The amine of DMEDA was grafted onto carrier NH2-MIL-101 by N–Cr coordinate covalent bonds and the ionic liquid of BmimBr(IL(Br-))was anchored in the NH2-MIL-101 nanocages by'ship-in-a-bottle'method,in which the amidogen of NH2-MIL-101 condensed with N,N-carbonyldiimidazole(CDI)firstly,and then alkylated with 1-bromo butane. This novel heterogeneous catalyst with two different active sites can efficiently catalyze the synthesis of N-aryl oxazolidin-2-ones from carbon dioxide(CO2),epoxides,and anilines in one-pot under mild solvent-free conditions. It not only showed good stability and recoverability after five cycles but also exhibited shape selectivity for the substrate due to the synergic catalysis of amine, ionic liquid, and NH2-MIL-101.This novel bifunctional material is a promising solid catalyst for the green synthesis of N-aryl oxazolidin-2-ones.

文摘The utilization of non-noble metal catalysts with robust and highly efficient electrocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)are extremely important for the large-scale implementation of renewable energy devices.Integration of bifunctional electrocatalysts on both anode and cathode electrodes remains a significant challenge.Herein,we report on a novel and facile strategy to construct the ordered and aligned MoS_(2)nanosheet-encapsulated metal–organic frameworks(MOFs)derived hollow CoS polyhedron,in-situ grown on a nickel foam(NF).The starfish-like MoS_(2)/CoS/NF heterojunctions were formed due to the ordered growth of the material caused by NF substrate. The optimized 2-MoS_(2)/CoS/NF heterojunction exhibits robust bifunctional electrocatalytic activity with a low overpotential of 67 and 207 m V toward the HER and OER at 10 mA cm^(-2),and the long-term stability, which exceeds most of the reported bifunctional electrocatalysts.Such high electrocatalytic performance arises due to the synergistic effect between the MoS_(2)and CoS phases across the interface, the abundant active sites,as well as the hierarchical pore framework, which collectively enhance the mass and electron transfer during the reactions. The work provides a promising approach to fabricating bifunctional catalysts with custom-designed heterojunctions and remarkable performance for applications in electrochemical energy devices and related areas.
