The development of efficient hydrogen storage materials is one of the biggest technical challenges for the coming "hydrogen economy". The liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHCs) with high hydrogen contents, reversibilities and moderate dehydrogenation kinetics have been considered as an alternative option supplementing the extensively investigated inorganic hydride systems. In this review, LOHCs for long distance H2 transport and for onboard application will be discussed with the focuses of the design and development of LOHCs and their hydrogenation & dehydrogenation catalyses. 展开更多

Dynamic expression of cerebral cortex and hippocampal glutamate transporters in a rat model of chest compression-induced global cerebral ischemia

The present study established a rat model of global cerebral ischemia induced by chest compression for six minutes to dynamically observe expressional changes of three glutamate transporters in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus. After 24 hours of ischemia, expression of glutamate transporter-1 significantly decreased in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus, which was accompanied by neuronal necrosis. At 7 days post-ischemia, expression of excitatory amino acid carrier 1 decreased in the hippocampal CA1 region and cortex, and was accompanied by apoptosis Expression of glutamate-aspartate transporter remained unchanged at 6 hours 7 days after ischemia. These results suggested that glutamate transporter levels were altered at different periods of cerebral ischemia. 展开更多

The Preparation of Cationic Folic Acid and Its Application in Drug Delivery System

The cationic folic acid(CFA) was prepared by introducing triethylenetetramine into folic acid with EDCI/NHS and characterized by IR, NMR and mass spectra. It was found that approximately one of two carboxyls in the folic acid molecule was substituted to form CFA. The conversion of γ-carboxyl is found to be 59% higher than 30% of γ-carboxyl. The CFA and doxorubicin hydrochloride can be loaded on the ionic shell of PTX-encapsulated micelle to form CFA loaded binary drug carrier via static interaction in aqueous solutions. The successful loading was demonstrated by zeta potential measurement and the drug load amount(DLA) of CFA was measured by HPLC. In vitro cytotoxicity results revealed the CFA drug carrier showed higher cytotoxicity to cancer cell MDA-MB-321 than the binary drug carrier without CFA and the positive control, while it showed lower cytotoxicity to normal cell HUVEC than the positive control, and similar cytotoxicity with the binary drug carrier without CFA. These results as well as confocal laser scanning microscopy observation indicate the synthesized CFA drug carrier possesses active tumor-targeting property. 展开更多

These imides form well ordered 1D nanotapes upon self-assembly in solution. Electrochemical and electric conductivity measurement reveal it can be served as an n-channel semiconductor with large charge carrier mobility up to 4.1 cm^2 V^-1 s^-1. Both alkylated imides are highly luminescent, and can be quenched via protonization using trifluoroacetic acid, which could be served as potential colorimetric acid sensors. 展开更多
