The actuator and sensor placement problem for active vibration control of large cable net structures is investigated in this paper.Since the structures exhibit closely spaced modes in the range of low frequencies, the number of modes to be considered is quite large after modal truncation, while only a limited number of actuators and sensors are to be placed. This makes it hard to determine the actuator and sensor locations with the existing placement methods in the literature such as the methods based on the controllability/observability grammian. To deal with this issue,an actuator and sensor placement method based on singular value decompositions(SVD)of the input and output matrices is proposed, which guarantees the modal controllability and observability of the system. The effectiveness of the SVD based method is verified through numerical simulations in which comparisons are conducted between randomly-chosen locations and the optimal ones obtained by a genetic algorithm. 展开更多

The lower-mobility parallel mechanism has been widely used in the engineering field due to its numerous excellent characteristics. However, little work has been devoted to the actuator selection and placement that best satisfy the system's functional requirements during concept design. In this study,a unified approach for synthesizing the actuation spaces of both rigid and flexure parallel mechanisms has been presented, and all possible combinations of inputs could be obtained, laying a theoretical foundation for the subsequent optimization of inputs.According to the linear independence of actuation space and constraint space of the lower-mobility parallel mechanism,a general expression of actuation spaces in the format of screw systems is deduced,a unified synthesis process for the lower-mobility parallel mechanism is derived, and the efficiency of the method is validated with two selective examples based on screw theory. This study presents a theoretical framework for the input selection problems of parallel mechanisms, aiming to help designers select and place actuators in a correct and even optimal way after the configuration design. 展开更多

Large space truss structure is widely used in spacecrafts. The vibration of this kind of structure will cause some serious problems. For instance,it will disturb the work of the payloads which are supported on the truss, even worse,it will deactivate the spacecrafts. Therefore,it is highly in need of executing vibration control for large space truss structure.Large space intelligent truss system(LSITS) is not a normal truss structure but a complex truss system consisting of common rods and active rods, and there are at least one actuator and one sensor in each active rod.One of the key points in the vibration control for LSITS is the location assignment of actuators and sensors. The positions of actuators and sensors will directly determine the properties of the control system, such as stability, controllability, observability, etc. In this paper, placement optimization of actuators and sensors(POAS) and decentralized adaptive fuzzy control methods are presented to solve the vibration control problem. The electro-mechanical coupled equations of the active rod are established, and the optimization criterion which does not depend upon control methods is proposed. The optimal positions of actuators and sensors in LSITS are obtained by using genetic algorithm(GA).Furthermore, the decentralized adaptive fuzzy vibration controller is designed to control LSITS.The LSITS dynamic equations with considering those remaining modes are derived. The adaptive fuzzy control scheme is improved via sliding control method. One T-typed truss structure is taken as an example and a demonstration experiment is carried out.The experimental results show that the GA is reliable and valid for placement optimization of actuators and sensors, and the adaptive fuzzy controller can effectively suppress the vibration of LSITS without control spillovers and observation spillovers. 展开更多

For the problem posed by closely spaced modes, this paper defined the MCC (modal correlation criterion) to measure the degree of correlation between close modes. It was proved that structures with certain features tend to have closely clustered modes and the corresponding mode shapes highly correlated. With this understanding, the closed-form expressions for controllability and observability Grammians were adopted to analyze the impacts of actuator/sensor placement on the controllability/observability of highly correlated close modes. On this basis, the problem of actuator/sensor placement, when the optimization criterion is based on modal controllability/observability, was simplified. Moreover, the dimension of the control/measurement vector in independent modal space control for highly correlated close modes was proved to have the potential to be reduced, therefore fewer actuators and sensors were required in this dimension-reduced control strategy. Finally, the desirable vibration suppression for an example structure showed that the theory and methods of this paper were accurate and effective. 展开更多
