Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of primary dysmenorrhea treated with acu-moxibus- tion. Methods 220 cases of primary dysmenorrhea were randomized into control group and treatment group, 110 cases in each one. In control group, fenbid was administered. In treatment group, ZhiyTn (至阴 BL 67) was selected in combination of auricular-point pressing therapy. Results The total effective rate was 94.5% in treatment group and was 76. 4 % in control group, indicating very significant difference (P〈0. 01) in com- parison. Conclusion Acu-moxibustion on BL 67 in combination of auricular-point pressing therapy presents definite therapeutic effect on primary dysmenorrhea, thus, this therapy is worth to be promoted entirely in practice. 展开更多

Objective: To observe and compare clinical therapeutic effect of acupuncture and moxibustion at different acupoint groups in stroke patients in the convalescence stage. Methods: Sixty stroke patients were evenly randomized into yin-meridian group and yang-meridian group. On the basis of the treatment with Chinese and Western medicines, these stroke patients of two groups were treated mainly by acupuncture of acupoints of yin meridians such as Jiquan (极泉HT 1), Tongli (通里HT 5), Neiguan (内关PC 6), etc., and those of yang meridians as Jianyu (NFDA1 LI 15), Quchi (曲池 LI 11), Shousanli (手三里LI 10), etc. respectively. After 30 days’ treatment, the therapeutic effect was evaluated by using American National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Hamilton Depression (HAMD) Rating Scale, Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Barthel Index and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Scale. Results: Following treatment, the therapeutic effect of yin-meridian group was significantly superior to that of yang-meridian group in improving stroke patients’ neurological deficits [Level B: 50% (15/30) vs 20% (6/30)] and ADL [Level Ⅱ: 40% (12/30) vs 13.3% (4/30)]. No significant difference was found between two groups in the neurological impairment domains. Conclusion: Acu-moxibustion of acupoints of yin meridians is superior to acupoints of yang meridians in improving stroke patients’ neurological impairment and daily living activities. 展开更多

Acu-moxibustion oncology is an emerging subject which needs further exploration in many aspects. We tried to describe the origin and application of acu-moxibustion oncology in this paper. It is a novel therapy based on the combination of traditional meridian theory, classical traditional Chinese and Western medicine knowledge and new theories and viewpoints on tumors.Acupuncture surrounding tumors can change tumor microenvironment.Surrounding acupuncture alone can inhibit the growth of tumors,if combining with chemotherapy,it increases the tumor targeting of chemotherapy drugs, and may reduce the risk of drug-resistance.Surrounding acupuncture will probably become a breakthrough of tumor inhibition by acu-moxibustion.We hope that this novel therapy of traditional Chinese medicine will play a bigger role in tumors treatment. 展开更多

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of the integrated acupuncture-moxibustio n and herbal therapies for facial paralysis. Methods: A total of 68 cases of facial paralysis were treated by integration of acupunct ure-moxibustion and herbal therapies. For acu-moxibustion, Yifeng (翳风 TE 17) , Dicang (地仓 ST 4), Jiache (颊车 ST 6), Yangbai (阳白 GB 14), Hegu (合谷 LI 4), etc. were used. In addition, for facial palsy patients with wind-phlegm blockin g meridian-collaterals and wind-stirring due to yin defi ciency types in the acute stage, Modified Qian Zheng San (牵正散 Powder for Treating Wry-mouth) and Modi f ied Zhen Gan Xi Feng Tang (镇肝熄风汤 Tranquilizing Liver-wind Decoction) were u sed respectively; and for those in convalescent stage and sequela stage, Modifie d Danggui Bu Xue Tang (当归补血汤 Ghinese Angelica Decoction for Replenishing Bl ood) + Qian Zheng San (Powder for Treating Wry-mouth) and Modified Bu Yang Hu an Wu Tang (补阳还五汤 Decoction Invigorating Yang for Recuperation) were employed. Results: After the treatment, the curative rate of the 68 cases a ccounted for 90 % of the total cases, the remarkably effective 6%, the improved 3% and the poor 1% respectively. Conclusion: The therapeutic effectiveness of the integrated tre atment of acupuncture-moxibustion and herbal therapies for facial paralysis is certain. 展开更多

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of acupuncture therapy in the treatment of simple obesity complicated with premenstrual tension syndrome. Methods: A total of 39 cases of simple obesity complicated with premenstrual tension were treated by combination of body acupuncture and otoacupuncture based on syndrome-differentiation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Symptoms, physical signs, obesity indexes and cumulative scores of clinical disease-syndrome before and after treatment were analyzed and compared. Results: After one, two and three courses of treatment, the effective rates were 69.23%, 79.49% and 87.18% respectively. Conclusion: Acupuncture therapy works well in the treatment of simple obesity with concurrent premenstrual tension syndrome. 展开更多

Acu-moxibustion therapy is one of the commonly-used remedies for the prevention and treatmerit of asthma. In the present article, the authors review development of clinical studies on acu-moxibustion treatment of asthma in recent 5 years from ① changes of pulmonary function as forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC), FEV1%, peak expiratory flow (PEF), maximum mid expiratory flow (MMEF), etc., ② changes of immune function as serum IgE, IgG, subgroups of T lymphocytes, inflammatory mediators, cytokines, etc, and ③ changes of the nervous system and related receptors including nitric oxide (NO), vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), substance P (SP), and cAMP/cGMP. Additionally, the authors also introduce the development of experimental researches from the effects of acu-moxibustion on ① inflammatory cells, ② nervous system and receptors, ③ patho-morphological changes of the lung tissue, and ④serology of acupuncture. 展开更多
