Thirty Cases of Acute Lumbar Sprain Treated by Acupuncture Combined with Point-Injection at Tianzhu

In recent years, the authors have treated 30 cases of acute lumbar sprain by acupuncture combined with point medicinal injection at Tianzhu (BL 10), and obtained quite good therapeutic results, as is reported in the following.

Evaluation of Clinical Efficacy of Combined Use of Acupuncture and Medicine in Treating Sleep Disorder in Patients with Anxiety Disorder

[Objectives]To evaluate the clinical efficacy of combined acupuncture and medicine in the treatment of sleep disorders in patients with anxiety disorders.[Methods]A total of 300 anxiety patients with sleep disorders were randomly selected and divided into a research group and a control group,with 150 cases in each group.The control group was administered with western medicine,and the research group was treated with acupuncture and medicine to compare their clinical treatment effects.[Results]The total effective rate of treatment in the research group was significantly higher than that in the control group;after treatment,both the PSQI and SAS scores of the two groups were significantly reduced,and the reduction degree of the research group was higher than that of the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).[Conclusions]Combined use of acupuncture and medicine to treat sleep disorders in patients with anxiety disorders has better curative effect and fewer adverse reactions,so it has high clinical application value.

COMBINED TREATMENT OF HEBETIC SCANTY MENSTRUATION WITH ACUPUNCTURE AND DRUGS

According to a random distribution table, 60 cases of scanty menstruation patients were evenly divided into 3 groups: A) estrin (n = 20), B) acupuncture (n = 20), and C) acupuncture +estrin (n = 20) for comparing their therapeutic effect. Results showed that after treatment, 5 cases in estrin group, 12 cases in acupuncture group and 14 cases in acupuncture + estrin group respectively had an ovulation response. Statistical analysis displayed significant differences between acupuncture group or acupuncture + estrin group and estrin group. (P < 0.05, P <0.05 ); and between acupuneture and acupuncture + estrin groups in the estradiol level of the early phase of follicles in patients with ovulation and without ovulation (P < 0. 05, P < 0.01 ). The fact indicates a close interrelation between acupuncture-induced ovulatory effect and the estradiol level of the patient’s body.

CLINICAL OBSERVATION ON THE TREATMENT OF APOPLEXY BY ACUPUNCTURE COMBINED WITH DRUGS

Apoplexy involves cerebrovascular accident, such as cerebral hemorrhage, cerebralthrombosis, cerebral infarction, subarachaoid hemorrhage, etc. and its sequelae in modern medicine. The author treated 81 cases of apoplexy using acupuncture combined with drugs. AIn0ng them, 36cases were male, accounting for 44%; 45 cases female, accounting for 56 %. The oldest was 82 yearsold, and youngest 28 years old. The shortest course of disease was one day, and the longest over 3years The treatment results show that 60 cases were cured, accounting for 74. 07%; 16 casesmarkedly effect, acc0unting for 19. 75 %; 3 cases improved, accounting for 3. 7 %; 2 cases ineffective,accounting for 2. 48 %. The total effect rate was 97. 52 %.

TREATMENT OF 33 CASES OF APOPLETIC HEMIPLEGIA BY COMBINED ACUPUNCTURE THERAPIES

In the present study,33 cases of apopletic hemiplegia were treated with combinedtherapies of scalp-,body-acupuncture and restoring consciousness needling;besides,electroacupuncture（EA）stimulation was added.The treatment was given once daily,six days constitutea therapeutic course with an interval of 1—2 days between courses.After 5 courses of treatment,10cases（30.30％）were cured,15（45.45％）markedly effective,7（21.21％）effective and 1（3.03％）was ineffective.The total effective rate was 96.96％.

Treatment of Prolapse of Rectum with Acupuncture Combined with TCM Drugs in 38 Cases

Prolapse of rectum usually occurs in the children with insufficient qi and blood, in the elders with declined qi and blood or deficiency of qi in the middle jiao (burner), in the women who made qi exhausted during labor resulting in deficiency of qi and blood, and in those with chronic diarrhea, habitual constipation and long-standing cough. In recent years, based on the experience of Prof. Cao Yiming, the author has treated 47 cases of gonitis by combined use of Chinese drugs and acupuncture, and obtained satisfactory therapeutic results as reported in the following.

Effects of acupuncture combined with Kaijingtongmai Decoction on ATP sensitive potassium channel related proteins Kir6.1 and Kir6.2 in myocardial infarction rats

Objective:To study the effect of combination of acupuncture and medicine on the expression of ATP sensitive potassium channel related proteins Kir6.1 and Kir6.2 in rats with myocardial infarction,and to study the possible mechanism of combination of acupuncture and medicine on the improvement of myocardial infarction,so as to provide experimental data basis for the development of new treatment methods for myocardial infarction.Methods:65 healthy male SD rats were randomly selected as the control group.The other rats were fed with high-fat food for three weeks.The rats in the control group were injected with normal saline subcutaneously,and the other rats were injected with isoproterenol hydrochloride in the same way.Through ECG comparison,40 successful Mi rats were randomly divided into model group,acupuncture group,western medicine group and acupuncture drug combination group,with 10 rats in each group.After the corresponding treatment,the ECG changes of rats in each group were observed,the pathological changes of rat cardiomyocytes were observed by HE staining,and the expression of ATP sensitive potassium channel(Kir6.1,Kir6.2)protein was detected by Western blot.Results:compared with the control group,40 experimental specimens in the experimental group showed significant changes in cardiomyocyte protein The expression of Kir6.1 and Kir6.2 increased,and the difference was statistically significant.After treatment,compared with the model group,the protein expression of Kir6.1 and Kir6.2 in cardiomyocytes of Western medicine group,acupuncture group and acupuncture drug combination group showed a downward trend,among which the decline degree of acupuncture drug combination group was the most obvious,and the difference was statistically significant.The decline degree of acupuncture group and Western medicine group was not significant,and there was no significant difference Conclusion:acupuncture combined with medicine has a significant effect on improving myocardial infarction in rats,which may be related to the expression of ATP sensitive potassium channel related proteins Kir6.1 and Kir6.2 in rat cardiomyocytes.

Effects of acupuncture combined with drug anesthesia on stress reaction and cognitive function in senior patients with total hip arthroplasty

Objective: To investigate the effects of acupuncture combined with anesthesia on stress and cognitive function in senior patients with total hip arthroplasty. Methods: A total of 89 patients who underwent total hip replacement between January 2016 and May 2018 were collected. According to whether acupuncture anesthesia was applied during total hip replacement, the patients were divided into acupuncture combined anesthesia group and drug anesthesia group. Fasting venous blood (3mL) was collected before the operation without electrical stimulation and after the operation. Cortisol (Cor) and β-endorphin (β-EP) were detected by radioimmunoassay, and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) was detected by electrochemical luminescence immunoassay. The levels of s-100β protein (s-100β), c-reactive protein (CRP) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were determined by ELISA. Flow cytometry was used to determine the ratio of T cell subsets (CD3+) and natural killer cells (NK cells) in the blood. Results: The levels of Cor, β-EP, NSE, S-100β, CRP, TNF-α and the ratio of NK cell, CD3+ between the two groups have no significant differences before operation (P>0.05). Serum levels of Cor, β-EP, NSE, S-100β, CRP and TNF-α in patients in the acupuncture combined with drug anesthesia group and the single drug anesthesia group were significantly higher than those before surgery (P<0.05). In addition, serum levels of Cor, β-EP, NSE, S-100β, CRP, TNF-α in the acupuncture combined with anesthesia group were significantly lower than those in the drug group alone (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in NK cell and CD3+ ratio between postoperative and preoperative in the acupuncture combined with drug anesthesia group (P>0.05). The ratio of NK cells and CD3+ in the pure drug anesthesia group was significantly lower than that before surgery (P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture combined with drug anesthesia can effectively reduce the inflammatory stress response of patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty, relieve the immune suppression caused by surgery and anesthesia, reduce the damage to the nervous system, and have a good influence in the cognitive function of the senior patients.

CLINICAL OBSERVATION ON COMBINED TREATMENT OF 360 CASES OF PROSTATITIS WITH ACUPUNCTURE OF SISHENCHONG POINT, ETC. AND SELF-DRAFTED PRESCRIPTION I, II AND III

In the present series of observations, 360 cases of prostatitis were treated with acupuncture of Sishenchong (EX HN 1), etc. and self drafted prescription I, II and III. After 4 courses (28 sessions) of treatment, 321 cases (89.17%) were cured, 35 cases (9.72%) had improvement and 4 cases (1.11%) failed. The total effective rate was 98.89%.

Clinical observation of acupuncture combined with medication for mild-to-moderate depression

Objective:To discuss the clinical efficacy and plausible mechanism of Tiao Yang Qu Xie(regulating Yang to eliminate pathogenic factors)needling method plus paroxetine in treating mild-to-moderate depression.Methods:Sixty-six patients with mild-to-moderate depression were divided into an observation group and a control group using the random number table method,each consisting of 33 cases.Another 25 healthy subjects were recruited as a healthy group.The control group took oral paroxetine tablets for treatment,and the observation group received additional acupuncture treatment 3 times weekly.Both groups underwent 4-week treatment.Before treatment,after 2-week and 4-week treatment,and 2 weeks after treatment(follow-up),the patients were assessed using the Hamilton depression scale-17-item(HAMD-17),self-rating depression scale(SDS),self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)pattern element identification scale for depression.The two groups each randomly contributed 25 cases to detect the protein content of brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)before treatment and after 4-week treatment,and compared with the healthy group.Results:After 2-week treatment,the markedly effective and total effective rates were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05);after 4-week treatment,the observation group significantly surpassed the control group in comparing the markedly effective rate(P<0.05).After 2 and 4 weeks of treatment and at the follow-up,the HAMD-17 total score and sleep disorder factor score were lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05);the anxiety-somatic score was lower in the observation group than in the control group after 2-week treatment(P<0.05).After 2 and 4 weeks of treatment and at the follow-up,the observation group was lower than the control group in comparing the scores of SDS,SAS,and TCM pattern element identification scale for depression(P<0.05).After 4-week treatment,the observation group had an increased serum BDNF protein content,higher than that in the control group(P<0.05)and had no significant difference compared to the healthy group(P>0.05).Conclusion:Compared to the use of oral paroxetine alone,acupuncture plus paroxetine can produce more significant efficacy in treating mild-to-moderate depression and act faster in improving sleep disorder and anxiety-somatic symptoms;increasing the serum BDNF protein content may be a part of the mechanism underlying its antidepressant actions.
