Systematic review of the therapeutic effect of fire acupuncture on psoriasis vulgaris based on"releasing stagnated fire"theory

Background:To systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy of fire acupuncture(or needle)in the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris.Methods:The following electronic databases were retrieved by calculator:PubMed,Embase,Cochrane Library,CNKI,Wanfang Academic Journal Database,VIP Chinese Journal Database,etc.All the randomized controlled trials using fire needles in the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris from the self-established database to August 2021 were included,and the qualified literatures were included.Review manager 5.3 software was used for the combined analysis of the included literatures,TSA v0.9 Beta for sequential analysis,and GRADE pro V3.6 for evidence quality evaluation.Results:A total of 14 studies with 1,440 patients were included in this study.Meta analysis results showed:effective rate[RR=1.15,95%CI(1.10,1.19),P<0.00001,very low quality evidence];Psoriasis Area and Severity Index[PASI score,WMD=-2.15,95%CI(-2.40,-1.90),P<0.00001,evidence of low quality],Dermatology Life Quality Index scale[DLQI score,WMD=-3.56,95%CI(-4.86,-2.26),P<0.00001,very low quality evidence],the experimental group was better than the control group(P<0.05).Sequential analysis further showed that the use of fire needle as the primary treatment could significantly reduce PASI score.The adverse reactions rate of the experimental group was 6%,and that of the control group was 11%,P<0.05.Conclusion:Fire acupuncture as the main treatment can reduce PASI and QLDI scores of patients with psoriasis vulgaris,improve the treatment efficiency,and fewer adverse reactions.

Meta-analysis of Clinical Efficacy of Warm Needling Acupuncture in the Treatment of Lumbar Disc Herniation

[Objectives]To evaluate the efficacy of warm needling acupuncture in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation(LDH)by Meta-analysis.[Methods]Randomized controlled trial of warm needling acupuncture in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation published from January 2000 to December 2021 was searched by Cochrane Library,PubMed,VIP,CNKI and Wanfang.After the quality evaluation of the literature,the Meta-analysis of the literature was carried out by using Review Manager 5.3.[Results]A total of 10 studies were included,involving a total of 980 patients.The results of Meta-analysis showed that warm needling acupuncture in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation could improve the total clinical effective rate,OR=5.38,95%CI(3.40,8.49),P<0.00001;decrease the VAS score,MD=-3.33,95%CI[-4.53,-2.12],z=5.42(P<0.00001);increase the JOA score,MD=-5.63,95%CI[-8.12,-3.14];improve the dysfunction,MD=-5.63,95%CI[-8.12,-3.14],z=4.43(P<0.00001);decrease inflammatory factors,MD=-11.09,95%CI[-13.60,-8.58],z=8.65(P<0.00001).And the recurrence rate was low,OR=0.33,95%CI[0.15,0.70],z=2.86(P=0.004).[Conclusions]Warm needling acupuncture could effectively treat lumbar disc herniation and relieve pain symptoms.However,due to the general poorness of literature quality and the low quality of evidence,high-quality randomized controlled trials are still needed.

Clinical Observation of Warm Needling Acupuncture of Mongolian Medicine in the Treatment of Lumbar Disc Herniation

[Objectives]To observe the clinical efficacy of warm needling acupuncture of Mongolian medicine in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation(LDH).[Methods]120 patients with lumbar disc herniation hospitalized in Inner Mongolia International Mongolian Hospital from June 2019 to June 2022 were randomly divided into observation group(n=60)and control group(n=60).The observation group was treated with warm needling acupuncture of Mongolian medicine,and the control group was treated with common acupuncture of Mongolian medicine,with two weeks as a course of treatment.The pain visual analogue scale(VAS)and Japanese orthopaedic association(JOA)score were observed before and after treatment,and the clinical efficacy was evaluated by the changes of clinical symptoms and signs of Mongolian medicine.[Results]The cure rate of the observation group was 71.7%,which was better than that of the control group(53.3%).The difference in the cure rate between the two groups was statistically significant,X 2=4.302,P=0.038.The total markedly effective rate(cured+markedly effective)of the observation group was 90.0%,while that of the control group was 83.3%.There was no significant difference in the total markedly effective rate between the two groups,X 2=1.154,P=0.283.The total effective rate(cured+markedly effective+effective)of the observation group was 100%,while that of the control group was 95.0%.There was no significant difference in the total effective rate between the two groups,and the continuous corrected chi-square value was 1.368 and 0.242.After treatment,the degree of low back pain,lower limb pain and dyskinesia were significantly improved in the two groups,the observation group was better than the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).[Conclusions]The warm needling acupuncture of Mongolian medicine was effective in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation,which is worth popularizing.

ACUPUNCTURE AT OTOACUPOINT HEART FOR TREATMENT OF VASCULAR HYPERTENSION

The immediate,short-term and long-term depressor effects,the immediate effects on cardiacfunctions in grade Ⅱ and grade Ⅲ vascular hypertension,and the effects on angiotensin Ⅱ ingrade Ⅲ vascular hypertension by acupuncture at otoacupoint Heart were studied in 30 cases ofvascular hypertensive patients.The immediate depressor effect of acupuncture at otoacupointStomach was also recorded for comparison.It was found that acupuncture at otoacupoint Heartproduced marked immediate depressor effect,and the short-term effective rate was 100%,thelong-term effective rate was 63.3%,as well as evident immediate effects on cardiac functionalactivities in grade Ⅱ and grade Ⅲ hypertension and marked effects on angiotensin Ⅱ in grade Ⅲhypertension.Acupuncture at otoacupoint Stomach produced no depressor effect on vascularhypertension.

Continuous Separation of Multiple Size Microparticles using Alternating Current Dielectrophoresis in Microfluidic Device with Acupuncture Needle Electrodes

The need to continuously separate multiple microparticles is required for the recent development of lab-on-chip technology. Dielectrophoresis（DEP）-based separation device is extensively used in kinds of microfluidic applications. However, such conventional DEP-based device is relatively complicated and difficult for fabrication. A concise microfluidic device is presented for effective continuous separation of multiple size particle mixtures. A pair of acupuncture needle electrodes are creatively employed and embedded in a PDMS（poly-dimethylsiloxane） hurdle for generating non-uniform electric field thereby achieving a continuous DEP separation. The separation mechanism is that the incoming particle samples with different sizes experience different negative DEP（n DEP） forces and then they can be transported into different downstream outlets. The DEP characterizations of particles are calculated, and their trajectories are numerically predicted by considering the combined action of the incoming laminar flow and the n DEP force field for guiding the separation experiments. The device performance is verified by successfully separating a three-sized particle mixture, including polystyrene microspheres with diameters of 3 μm, 10 μm and 25 μm. The separation purity is below 70% when the flow rate ratio is less than 3.5 or more than 5.1, while the separation purity can be up to more than 90% when the flow rate ratio is between 3.5 and 5.1 and meanwhile ensure the voltage output falls in between 120 V and 150 V. Such simple DEP-based separation device has extensive applications in future microfluidic systems.

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided intraportal injection of autologous bone marrow in patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis:A case series

BACKGROUND Recently,stem cell therapy has been extensively studied as a promising treatment for decompensated liver cirrhosis(DLC).Technological advances in endoscopic ultrasonography(EUS)have facilitated EUS-guided portal vein(PV)access,through which stem cells can be precisely infused.AIM To investigate the feasibility and safety of fresh autologous bone marrow injection into the PV under EUS guidance in patients with DLC.METHODS Five patients with DLC were enrolled in this study after they provided written informed consent.EUS-guided intraportal bone marrow injection with a 22G FNA needle was performed using a transgastric,transhepatic approach.Several parameters were assessed before and after the procedure for a follow-up period of 12 mo.RESULTS Four males and one female with a mean age of 51 years old participated in this study.All patients had hepatitis B virus-related DLC.EUS-guided intraportal bone marrow injection was performed in all patients successfully without any complications such as hemorrhage.The clinical outcomes of the patients revealed improvements in clinical symptoms,serum albumin,ascites,and Child-Pugh scores throughout the 12-mo follow-up.CONCLUSION The use of EUS-guided fine needle injection for intraportal delivery of bone marrow was feasible and safe and appeared effective in patients with DLC.This treatment may thus be a safe,effective,non-radioactive,and minimally invasive treatment for DLC.

CLINICAL OBSERVATION ON ACUPUNCTURE TRETMENT OF UROSCHESIS

Uroschesis is manifested by. incompleteness or difficulty in urination or even incapability of urination. Clinically, the symptoms include retention of urine and anuria induced by a variety of causes. In this study, the patients with anuria or oliguria due to lesions of renal parenchyma or renal failure were excluded. Using acupuncture, the author had treated 36 cases of functional uroshesis with satisfactory results as reported in the following.

85 cases of apoplexy were treated with scalp acupuncture,including 52 cases by the methodof slow-rapid reinforcing-reducing and 33 cases by the method of flat twisting.The totak ef-fective rates differed insignificantly between the 2 methods.However,in respects of im-proving the myodynamia and motile functional disturbances of the limbs,the method ofslow-rapid reinforcing-reducing was markedly superior to the method of flat twisting.

A review of the literature on randomized controlled trials of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic-pain syndrome within 2016-2021

Chronic prostatitis(CP)/chronic pelvic-pain syndrome(CPPS)is a common urinary-system disease with a high incidence in young and middle-aged men,seriously affecting patients'ability to work and their quality of life(Qo L).Western medicine(WM)has some limitations in treating CP/CPPS.Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical method that is commonly used to treat this condition and has a relatively good effect on it.Many randomized controlled trials(RCTs)on this subject have been published.For this study,we searched the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Chinese Science and Technology Periodical(VIP),Wanfang,Sino Med,and Pub Med databases for RCTs on acupuncture treatment of CP/CPPS in the last 5 years(2016/01/01-2021/12/01).In addition,we conducted analysis and research,aiming to summarize acupuncture treatment in CP/CPPS RCTs and the clinical efficacy,with the goal of providing clinical reference.A total of 466 related documents were retrieved in the search,and 62 articles were retained after screening.We obtained RCT information on acupuncture treatment of CP/CPPS.The results showed that several relevant clinical studies have been performed over the last 5 years and that acupuncture and moxibustion have better curative effect on CP/CPPS than WM.Due to the small number of included studies,more experimental evidence is needed to verify the clinical efficacy of acupuncture.

History and Development of Zhuang Medicine Shallow Needling from Bone Needle,Pottery Needle,and Bronze Needle to Electroacupuncture

Zhuang medicine shallow needling has a long history and plays a significant role in Chinese medicine.With the development of medical treatment in China,there is a constant improvement in the use of needles.Bone needles have been modified to pottery needles,bronze needles,and electroacupuncture.From this long development history,there are some improvements in terms of material and technology.By analyzing and comparing the primitive and current acupuncture instruments used in China and their therapeutic effects,it can be seen that China’s medical treatment is constantly improving and will continue to improve with technology.

Clinical Research on Treatment of Migraine with Combination of Characteristic and Superior Techniques of Zhuang Medicine

Objective:To study the application effect of the combination of special advantages of Zhuang medical technology for migraine patients.Methods:80 patients with migraine were selected and all were admitted to Mingxiu Branch of International Zhuang Hospital Affiliated to Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from February 2019 to February 2020.Random number table method was used to divide patients into two groups,with 40 patients in each group.Among them,the patients in the study group were treated with the therapy combining characteristics of Zhuang medicine and superior technology,that is,Zhuang medicine meridian tendon therapy+Zhuang medicine lotus needle cupping blood stasis removal therapy+Zhuang medicine thread moxibustion therapy+Zhuang medicine acupuncture therapy;the patients in the control group were treated with conventional Western medicine.The efficacy of the two treatments were compared.Results:After treatment,the total effective rate of clinical treatment in the study group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),and the visual analogue scale(VAS)score and integral improvement rate were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The onset time of action was statistically shorter than that of the control group(P<0.05).There was a statistically significant difference in the adverse reaction rate between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion:The combination of Zhuang medicine’s characteristic and superior techniques for patients with migraine has a significant curative effect.
