Although advances in wireless technologies such as miniature and wearable electronics have improved the quality of our lives,the ubiquitous use of electronics comes at the expense of increased exposure to electromagnetic(EM)radiation.Up to date,extensive efforts have been made to develop high-performance EM absorbers based on synthetic materials.However,the design of an EM absorber with both exceptional EM dissipation ability and good environmental adaptability remains a substantial challenge.Here,we report the design of a class of carbon heterostructures via hierarchical assembly of graphitized lignocellulose derived from bamboo.Specifically,the assemblies of nanofibers and nanosheets behave as a nanometer-sized antenna,which results in an enhancement of the conductive loss.In addition,we show that the composition of cellulose and lignin in the precursor significantly influences the shape of the assembly and the formation of covalent bonds,which affect the dielectric response-ability and the surface hydrophobicity(the apparent contact angle of water can reach 135°).Finally,we demonstrate that the obtained carbon heterostructure maintains its wideband EM absorption with an effective absorption frequency ranging from 12.5 to 16.7 GHz under conditions that simulate the real-world environment,including exposure to rainwater with slightly acidic/alkaline pH values.Overall,the advances reported in this work provide new design principles for the synthesis of high-performance EM absorbers that can find practical applications in real-world environments. 展开更多

We designed two types of pre-adaption plans for this study. One was a pre-adaption training with progressive intermittent hypoxia, with a constant lower pressure oxygen tank used in the plain before arriving at the plateau (PG). The other was by progressively increasing the time of exposure to hypoxia with oxygen supplied in stages after radical plateau (RG). By testing the blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), heart rate (HR), and quality of sleep after arriving at the 3800 m high plateau, results showed that the pre-acclimatization and radical groups performed better than the control group (CG). Both strategies were equivalent in terms of effects and principles in providing more flexible choices for acclimatization. 展开更多

Lipotes usually occurs in pairs or in small loose groups. The calves are born in March-April.The Finless porpoises are usually seen in groups of five or six individuals.The blowof Lipotes lasts 0.2--0.6 sec and that of Neophocaena 0.2--0.5 sec. In Lipotes,a short divewould take 10--20 sec and a long dive up to 1--2 min (average value being 31 sec). InNeophocaena a long dive would reach a maximum of 65 sec with an average of 17.5 sec.Lipotes has a pair of functional eyes. The selective secondary atrophy of a number of eyemuscles and nerves and the position of the eyes in the head correspond with the physical con-ditions of the environments so that the field of vision is directed forwards and upwards. When pursued by motor boat, both species react with a long dive and a change of direc-tion under water. With the Baiji this would occasionally cause fatal injuries by thepropeller of the ship. Such a case seems much less often with Neophocaena. The populationof Lipotes is at present very small.In the stretch of the river (between Nanjing andTaiyangzhou) under exploration, we found scarcely more than one dolphin per 4 km. Based on the theory of multiple attribute decision making, an algorithm of comprehensive and comparative evaluation for product environmental adaptability is presented. A portable shape-shifting mobile robot system named as Amoeba Ⅱ(A-Ⅱ) is developed for the urban search and rescue application. It is designed with three degrees of freedom and two tracked drive systems. This robot consists of two modular mobile units and a joint unit. The mobile unit is a tracked mechanism to enforce the propulsion of robot. And the joint unit can transform the robot shape to get high environment adaptation. A-Ⅱ robot can not only adapt to the environment but also change its body shape according to the locus space. It behaves two work states including the linear state (named as I state) and the parallel state (named as Ⅱ state). With the linear state the robot can climb upstairs and go through narrow space such as the pipe, cave, etc. The parallel state enables the robot with high mobility on rough ground. Also, the joint unit can propel the robot to roll in sidewise direction. Two modular A-Ⅱ robots can be connected through jointing common interfaces on the joint unit to compose a stronger shape-shifting robot, which can transform the body into four wheels-driven vehicle. The experimental results validate the adaptation and mobility of A-Ⅱ robot. 展开更多

A new method was proposed to identify speech-segment endpoints based on the empirical mode decomposition(EMD) and a new wavelet entropy ratio with improving the accuracy of voice activity detection.With the EMD, the noise signals can be decomposed into several intrinsic mode functions(IMFs). Then the proposed wavelet energy entropy ratio can be used to extract the desired feature for each IMFs component. In view of the question that the method of voice endpoint detection based on the original wavelet entropy ratio cannot adapt to the low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)condition, an appropriate positive constant was introduced to the basic wavelet energy entropy ratio with effectively improved discriminability between the speech and noise. After comparing the traditional wavelet energy entropy ratio with the proposed wavelet energy entropy ratio, the experiment results show that the proposed method is simple and fast. The speech endpoints can be accurately detected in low SNR environments. 展开更多

Mulberry(Morns spp.)is the sole plant consumed by the domesticated silkworm.However,the genome of domesticated mulberry has not yet been sequenced,and the ploidy level of this species remains unclear.Here,we report a high-quality,chromosome-level domesticated mulberry(Morus alba)genome.Analysis of genomic data and karyotype analyses confirmed that M.alba is a diploid with 28 chromosomes(2/7=2x=28).Population genomic analysis based on resequencing of 134 mulberry accessions classified domesticated mulberry into three geographical groups,namely,Taihu Basin of southeastern China(Hu mulberry),northern and southwestern China,and Japan.Hu mulberry had the lowest nucleotide diversity among these accessions and demonstrated obvious signatures of selection associated with environmental adaptation.Further phylogenetic analysis supports a previous proposal that multiple domesticated mulberry accessions previously classified as different species actually belong to one species.This study expands our understanding of genome evolution of the genus Morus and population structure of domesticated mulberry,which would facilitate mulberry breeding and improvement. 展开更多

We generated 152043 sequencing reads ... Using a pyrosequencing-based custom-made sequencer BIGIS-4, we sequenced a Gram-negative bacterium Glaciecola mesophila sp. nov. (Gmn) isolated from marine invertebrate specimens. We generated 152043 sequencing reads with a mean high-quality length of 406 bp, and assembled them using the BIGIS-4 post-processing module. No systematic low-quality data was detected beyond expected homopolymer-derived errors. The assembled Gmn genome is 5144318 bp in length and harbors 4303 annotated genes. A large number of metabolic genes correspond to various nutrients from surface marine invertebrates. Its abundant cold-tolerant and cellular signaling and related genes reveal a fundamental adaptation to low-temperature marine environment. 展开更多

The application of semiconductor materials was limited as electromagnetic absorption materials,due to the unstable absorption performance caused by the temperature sensitivity.In this work,a structurally controllable ceramic heterojunction was developed by assembling structural units of SiC nanowires(SiCnws)and Ba_(0.75)Sr_(0.25)Al_(2)Si_(2)O_(8)(BSAS).Benefiting from the optimization of the energy gap and the construction of heterogeneous interfaces,the ceramic heterojunction can achieve stable electromagnetic absorption from room temperature to 600℃,the effective absorption bandwidth is almost unchanged.And the minimum reflection loss value reached-63.6 dB at 600℃.Meanwhile,the SiCnws/BSAS ceramic heterojunction shows stable electromagnetic absorption performance in various simulated outdoor environments,including acid rain,seawater,high temperature and water vapor corrosion.This result provides a fire-new idea to realize the environmental adaptability of electromagnetic absorption materials and largely broadens its application prospect. 展开更多

The most important feature of Modular Self-reconfigurable Robot (MSRR) is the adaption to complex environments and changeable tasks. A critical difficulty is that the operator should regulate a large number of control parameters of modules. In this paper, a novel locomotion control model based on chaotic Central Pattern Generator (CPG) is proposed. The chaotic CPG could produce various rhythm signals or chaotic signal only by changing one parameter. Utilizing this characteristic, a unified control model capable of switching variable locomotion patterns or generating chaotic motion for modular self-reconfigurable robot is presented. This model makes MSRR exhibit environmental adaptability. The efficiency of the control model is verified through simulation and experiment of UBot MSRR platform. 展开更多
