Complex adaptive system theory,agent-based modeling,and simulation in dominant technology formation

Dominant technology formation is the key for the hightech industry to“cross the chasm”and gain an established foothold in the market(and hence disrupt the regime).Therefore,a stimulus-response model is proposed to investigate the dominant technology by exploring its formation process and mechanism.Specifically,based on complex adaptive system theory and the basic stimulus-response model,we use a combination of agent-based modeling and system dynamics modeling to capture the interactions between dominant technology and the socio-technical landscape.The results indicate the following:(i)The dynamic interaction is“stimulus-reaction-selection”,which promotes the dominant technology’s formation.(ii)The dominant technology’s formation can be described as a dynamic process in which the adaptation intensity of technology standards increases continuously until it becomes the leading technology under the dual action of internal and external mechanisms.(iii)The dominant technology’s formation in the high-tech industry is influenced by learning ability,the number of adopting users and adaptability.Therein,a“critical scale”of learning ability exists to promote the formation of leading technology:a large number of adopting users can promote the dominant technology’s formation by influencing the adaptive response of technology standards to the socio-technical landscape and the choice of technology standards by the socio-technical landscape.There is a minimum threshold and a maximum threshold for the role of adaptability in the dominant technology’s formation.(iv)The socio-technical landscape can promote the leading technology’s shaping in the high-tech industry,and different elements have different effects.This study promotes research on the formation mechanism of dominant technology in the high-tech industry,presents new perspectives and methods for researchers,and provides essential enlightenment for managers to formulate technology strategies.

Research on Chinese-English Translation of Enterprise Publicity Materials from the Perspective of Adaptation Theory

As the process of economic globalization continues to advance,China has undergone earth-shaking changes.High-quality products and promotional materials are crucial for Chinese companies to go global and build their brands.The English translation of external promotional materials is crucial.However,some companies do not pay enough attention to their publicity,resulting in a low international status.This paper analyzes the Chinese-English translation of enterprise external publicity materials from the perspective of adaptation theory,thereby exploring the translation strategies adopted under the guidance of adaptation theory,hoping to provide some references for related translation practices in the future.

A Study on German Translation Strategies of Culture-Loaded Words in Documentary Hexi Corridor(Expert)by Adaptation Theory

This paper deals with the translation strategies of Chinese Culture-Loaded Words from the perspective of adaptation theory.It is based on the translation text of the sixth episode“Silk Road”and the seventh episode“Dunhuang”of the documentary Hexi Corridor.Many words with Chinese cultural connotations appear in the subtitles of this documentary.This paper will be divided into four parts.The first part and the second part deal with the basic theories,i.e.,definition of Chinese Culture-Loaded Words and of adaptation theory.The original text is analysed in the third part.This part deals with the background and specifics of the language of the documentary film Hexi Corridor.The fourth part deals with the difficulties encountered by the author in translation practice and the corresponding solutions adopted by the author.The translation difficulties are solved by five translation methods,namely transliteration,loan translation,substitution,interpretation,and adaptation.

On News Language from the Perspective of Pragmatics——By Applying Adaption Theory

News is an important medium to transmit social information and reflect social reality. Its effects are irreplaceable and the news language which is a carrier to spread information is in fact influenced by many factors such as society, economy and culture. In order to exert its function to gain different social ends, the presentation of news language owns distinguishing features. This article starts from Verschueren's Adaption Theory to have the final conclusion that the adaption to the social, mental and physical world is the key element for the determination of the originality in news language.

Analysis of Conflict Talks in Zootopia from the Perspective of Adaptation Theory

Conflict talk is a common and complex linguistic phenomenon existing in life,mainly referring to verbal interaction events such as disputes,dissent,and refutation between the two parties in the conversation.This paper is based on Verschueren’s adaptation theory,combined with the representative conflict cases in the movie Zootopia,and the multiangle analysis of the expression of dialogue conflicts.And it tries to find the specific causes of conflict talks,in order to provide methods to solve or alleviate the discourse conflicts in life.

Adaptive synchronisation of fractional-order chaotic systems

A new stability theory of nonlinear dynamic systems is proposed, and a novel adaptive synchronisation method is presented for fractional-order chaotic and hyperchaotic systems based on the theory described in this paper. In comparison with previous methods, not only is the present control scheme simple but also it employs only one control strength, converges very fast, and it is also suitable for a large class of fractional-order chaotic and hyperchaotic systems. Moreover, this scheme is analytical and simple to implement in practice. Numerical and circuit simulations are used to validate and demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.

Chinese Translation Strategies of Japanese Mental Cultural Vocabulary from the Perspective of Adaptation Theory

Mental cultural vocabulary is a type of cultural vocabulary.This kind of vocabulary is a valuable carrier of the spiritual material culture of a nation or a country.The translation of these words can directly reflect the differences between different cultures,which plays an important role in cross-cultural communication.The translation strategies in dealing with mental cultural vocabulary translation is emphasized as it is a difficulty faced in translation practice.Based on the adaptation theory,this study analyzes the examples and translation from the perspective of dynamic adaptation as well as explains the adaptation at all levels in translation practice.

The Adaptation Theory on College English Teaching

The theory of linguistic adaptation mainly focuses on the problems of linguistic output,which advocates that the lan⁃guage usage is the linguistic process of constantly choosing certain words and puts the emphasis on the consistency of communica⁃tive objectives,communicative situations and communicative subjects.Starting from the perspective of the theory of linguistic adap⁃tation,some possible problems which would appear in English language teaching process would be fully discussed together with the guiding significance and practical suggestions.In essence,communicators should adjust linguistic reality,social conventions and mental motivation.The results find that the adaptation theory could firstly enrich language skills between teachers and students and set a model for English adaptation.Secondly,it could emphasize the situational teaching and create the English adaptation environ⁃ment.Thirdly,it could endow teachers with effective tactics and conduct the English situational teaching.Fourthly,it could let teachers pay attention to the words in class resulting in creating the positive influence of situational adaptation.

Pragmatic Analysis of Vague Language in CNN Economic News from the Perspective of Adaptation Theory

Vagueness is a ubiquitous phenomenon in language use.Because of its flexibility and generality,vague language is used in CN N economic news widely.From the perspective of Verschueren's adaptation theory,this paper collects ten economic news to conduct research and analyzes vague language from three aspects of adaptation theory.The result shows that adaptation to the mental world includes the readers'mental world and editors'mental world;adaptation to the physical world includes the time,space and other features of the physical world;adaptation to the social world includes the politeness and avoiding negative effect on society.

Teachers’Questioning Strategies in Reading Class—the Perspective of Adaptation

Teachers’questioning is one of the crucial means for classroom interaction.This study attempts to explore teachers’questioning strategies in reading class from the perspective of Adaptation Theory.It is found that the effective questioning can be realized in teachers’adaptation to their roles,the features of students and the features of reading courses.

Ultrasonic detection of interface in multilayers: Theory and adaptive noise canceling

The analytic expression of the received echo in multilayers NDT (Non-Destruction Evaluation) is derived. Then based on the analytic solution, interface signals are analyzed; and it is concluded that the received ultrasonic echo of mulilayers is composed of all the interface signals. By using the adaptive canceling of the signals from interfaces 0 and 1, the signals from interface 2 can be extracted. The method is applied to simulated and real echoes of multilayers,and the signals from interface 2 is separated successfully Based on the amplitude and arrival time of the signal from interface 2, the bond quality and depth of the interface can be evaluated

罗伊适应理论在脑卒中患者护理中的应用研究

目的探讨罗伊适应理论对老年脑卒中患者日常生活能力、应对方式及生活质量的影响。方法选取2017年6月―2018年6月医院收治的72例脑卒中患者,将2017年6月―2017年12月收治的患者纳入对照组,采用常规护理;2018年1月―2018年6月收治的患者纳入观察组,应用罗伊适应理论护理模式。比较两组患者日常生活能力、应对方式及生活质量。结果干预后,两组患者的日常生活能力、积极应对、生理功能、躯体疼痛、生理职能、健康状况、活力、社会功能、情感职能与精神健康评分均高于干预前,且观察组评分高于对照组(p<0.05);两组患者的消极应对评分均低于干预前,且观察组评分低于对照组(p<0.05)。结论罗伊适应理论可进一步改善老年脑卒中患者的应对心态,使其采取更积极的方式接受治疗,提高患者日常生活能力与生活质量,值得推广。

An artificial neural network for detecting weld position in arc welding process

A kind of self organizing artificial neural network used for weld detection is presented in this paper, and its concepts and issues are discussed. The network can transform the weld visual information into typical patterns and match with the weld data collected on line, and so realize the accurate detection of the weld position in arc welding process.

Contrastive Study of English and Chinese Subjects in Perspective of Cognitive Prominence

This present paper, in perspective of cognitive prominence, the cognitive motive on the differences between English and Chinese subjects, and then explores the interpretability of the Adaptation Theory in translating the subjects. It is discovered that the blending of the cognitive prominence and the theory of adaptation is very effective in elaborating the subtle differences of English and Chinese subjects in translation, and reasonable in expounding the infeasibility of some plausible versions.

Pragmatic Adaptability of Teacher's Codeswitching in English Classes

In this paper,the author applies Jef Verschueren's Pragmatics as a Theory of Linguistic Adaptation as the theoretical basement.And the generation of code- switching is discussed under the guidance of Yu Guodong's Adaptation Model as well.Conclusions can be drawn as: teacher's English/Chinese codeswitching is an adaptation to linguistic reality,social conventions and teacher's psychological intentions,the first two being considered as passive switching and the last being active switching.Teacher's codeswitching as understanding-facilitating strategy forms the most important factor that triggers teacher's English/Chinese codeswitching.

RLSESN-based PID adaptive control for a novel wearable rehabilitation robotic hand driven by PM-TS actuators

Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to develop a novel wearable rehabilitation robotic hand driven by Pneumatic Muscle-Torsion Spring(PM-TS)for finger therapy.PM has complex nonlinear dynamics,which makes PM modelling difficult.To realize high-accurate tracking for the robotic hand,an Echo State Network(ESN)-based PID adaptive controller is proposed,even though the plant model is unknown.Design/methodology/approach-To drive a single joint of rehabilitation robotic hand,the paper proposes a new PM-TS actuator comprising a Pneumatic Muscle(PM)and a Torsion Spring(TS).Based on the novel actuator,a wearable robotic hand is designed.By employing the model-free approximation capability of ESN,the RLSESN based PID adaptive controller is presented for improving the trajectory tracking performance of the rehabilitation robotic hand.An ESN together with Recursive Least Square(RLS)is called a RLSESN,where the ESN output weight matrix is updated by the online RLS learning algorithm.Findings–Practical experiments demonstrate the validity of the PM-TS actuator and indicate that the performance of the RLSESN based PID adaptive controller is better than that of the conventional PID controller.In addition,they also verify the effectiveness of the proposed rehabilitation robotic hand.Originality/value–A new PM-TS actuator configuration that uses a PM and a torsion spring for bi-directional movement of joint is presented.By utilizing the new PM-TS actuator,a novel wearable rehabilitation robotic hand for finger therapy is designed.Based on the unknown plant model,the RLSESN_PID controller is proposed to attain satisfactory performance.

Neural network based method for background modeling and detecting moving objects

This paper proposes a novel method, primarily based on the fuzzy adaptive resonance theory （ART） neural network with forgetting procedure, for moving object detection and background modeling in natural scenes. With the ability, inheriting from the ART neural network, of extracting patterns from arbitrary sequences, the background model based on the proposed method can learn new scenes quickly and accurately. To guarantee that a long-life model can derived from the proposed mothed, a forgetting procedure is employed to find the neuron that needs to be discarded and reconstructed, and the finding procedure is based on a neural network which can find the extreme value quickly. The results of a suite of quantitative and qualitative experiments conducted verify that for processes of modeling background and detecting moving objects our method is more effective than five other proven methods with which it is compared.
