The optimum Wiener solution, the condition of convergence, the minimum mean square error (MSE) and the steady state excess MSE of the WTD adaptive equalizer are obtained. Constant and time varying convergence factor adaptive algorithms are studied respectively. Computational complexities of WTD LMS equalizers are given. With reference to the orthogonality constrains of Daubechies wavelet, by taking the mmimization of the energy or the gray level of the pixels in the output sub-images as the additional conditions and using the random algorithm method, two sets of wavelet filters adapted to the fabric texture were formed. The original images of normal fabric texture and the fabric texture with defects were decomposed into horizontal and vertical sub- images by using these filters and the feature indices of these sub-images were also extracted. By comparing the feature indices of the normal texture with that of the defective texture, the fabric defects can be successfully detected and located. 展开更多

The wavelet transform-based adaptive multiuser detection algorithm is presented. The novel adaptive multiuser detection algorithm uses the wavelet transform for the preprocessing, and wavelet-transformed signal uses LMS algorithm to implement the adaptive multiuser detection. The algorithm makes use of wavelet transform to divide the wavelet space, which shows that the wavelet transform has a better decorrelation ability and leads to better convergence. White noise can be wiped off under the wavelet transform according to different characteristics of signal and white noise under the wavelet transform. Theoretical analyses and simulations demonstrate that the algorithm converges faster than the conventional adaptive multiuser detection algorithm, and has the better performance. Simulation results reveal that the algorithm convergence relates to the wavelet base, and show that the algorithm convergence gets better with the increasing of regularity for the same series of the wavelet base. Finally the algorithm shows that it can be easily implemented. 展开更多

An analysis of the received signal of array antennas shows that the received signal has multi-resolution characteristics, and hence the wavelet packet theory can be used to detect the signal. By emplying wavelet packet theory to adaptive beamforming, a wavelet packet transform-based adaptive beamforming algorithm (WP-ABF) is proposed . This WP-ABF algorithm uses wavelet packet transform as the preprocessing, and the wavelet packet transformed signal uses least mean square algorithm to implement the ~adaptive beamforming. White noise can be wiped off under wavelet packet transform according to the different characteristics of signal and white under the wavelet packet transform. Theoretical analysis and simulations demonstrate that the proposed WP-ABF algorithm converges faster than the conventional adaptive beamforming algorithm and the wavelet transform-based beamforming algorithm. Simulation results also reveal that the convergence of the algorithm relates closely to the wavelet base and series; that is, the algorithm convergence gets better with the increasing of series, and for the same series of wavelet base the convergence gets better with the increasing of regularity. 展开更多

A new adaptive Packet algorithm based on Discrete Cosine harmonic wavelet transform (DCHWT), (DCAHWP) has been proposed. This is realized by the Discrete Cosine Harmonic Wavelet transform (DCHTWT) which exploits the good properties of DCT viz., energy compaction (low leakage), frequency resolution and computational simplicity due its real nature, compared to those of DFT and its harmonic wavelet version. Hence the proposed wavelet packet is advantageous both in terms of performance and computational efficiency compared to those of existing DFT harmonic wavelet packet. Further, the new DCAHWP also enjoys the desirable properties of a Harmonic wavelet transform over the time domain WT, viz., built in decimation without any explicit antialiasing filtering and easy interpolation by mere concatenation of different scales in frequency (DCT) domain with out any image rejection filter and with out laborious delay compensation required. Further, the compression by the proposed DCAHWP is much better compared to that by adaptive WP based on Daubechies-2 wavelet (DBAWP). For a compression factor (CF) of 1/8, the ratio of the percentage error energy by proposed DCAHWP to that by DBAWP is about 1/8 and 1/5 for considered 1-D signal and speech signal, respectively. Its compression performance is better than that of DCHWT, both for 1-D and 2-D signals. The improvement is more significant for signals with abrupt changes or images with rapid variations (textures). For compression factor of 1/8, the ratio of the percentage error energy by DCAHWP to that by DCHWT, is about 1/3 and 1/2, for the considered 1-D signal and speech signal, respectively. This factor for an image considered is 2/3 and in particular for a textural image it is 1/5. 展开更多

With the widespread application and fast development of gas and oil pipeline network in China, the pipeline inspection technology has been used more extensively. The magnetic flux leakage (MFL) method has established itself as the most widely used in-line inspection technique for the evaluation of gas and oil pipelines. The MFL data obtained from seamless pipeline inspection is usually contaminated by the seamless pipe noise (SPN). SPN can in some cases completely mask MFL signals from certain type of defects, and therefore considerably reduces the detectability of the defect signals. In this paper, a new de-noising algorithm called wavelet domain adaptive filtering is proposed for removing the SPN contained in the MFL data. The new algorithm results from combining the wavelet transform with the adaptive filtering technique. Results from application of the proposed algorithm to the MFL data from field tests show that the proposed algorithm has good performance and considerably improves the detectability of the defect signals in the MFL data. 展开更多

It is an important step in the online monitoring of partial discharge (PD) to extract PD pulses from various background noises. An adaptive de-noising method is introduced for adaptive noise reduction during detection of PD pulses. This method is based on Wavelet Transform (WT), and in the wavelet domain the noises decomposed at the levels are reduced by independent thresholds. Instead of the standard hard thresholding function, a new type of hard thresholding function with continuous derivative is employed by this method. For the selection of thresholds, an unsupervised learning algorithm based on gradient in a mean square error (MSE) is present to search for the optimal threshold for noise reduction, and the optimal threshold is selected when the minimum MSE is obtained. With the simulating signals and on-site experimental data processed by this method, it is shown that the background noises such as narrowband noises can be reduced efficiently. Furthermore, it is proved that in comparison with the conventional wavelet de-noising method the adaptive de-noising method has a better performance in keeping the pulses and is more adaptive when suppressing the background noises of PD signals. 展开更多

Through research for image compression based on wavelet analysis in recent years, we put forward an adaptive wavelet decomposition strategy. Whether sub-images are to be decomposed or not are decided by their energy defined by certain criterion. Then we derive the adaptive wavelet decomposition tree (AWDT) and the way of adjustable compression ratio. According to the feature of AWDT, this paper also deals with the strategies which are used to handle different sub-images in the procedure of quantification and coding of the wavelet coefficients. Through experiments, not only the algorithm in the paper can adapt to various images, but also the quality of recovered image is improved though compression ratio is higher and adjustable. When their compression ratios are near, the quality of subjective vision and PSNR of the algorithm are better than those of JPEG algorithm. 展开更多

The goal of this paper is to find an excellent adaptive window function for extracting the weak vibration signal and high frequency vibration signal under strong noise.The relationship between windowing transform andfiltering is analyzed first in the paper.The advantage of adjustable time-frequency window of wavelet transform is introduced.Secondly the relationship between harmonic wavelet and multiple analytic band-pass filter is analyzed.The coherence of the multiple analytic band-pass filter and harmonic wavelet base function is discussed,and the characteristic that multiple analytic band-pass filter included in the harmonic wavelet transform is founded.Thirdly,by extending the harmonic wavelet transform,the concept of the adaptive harmonic window and its theoretical equation without decomposition are put forward in this paper.Then comparing with the Hanning window,the good performance of restraining side-lobe leakage possessed by adaptive harmonic window is shown,and the adaptive characteristics of window width changing and analytical center moving of the adaptive harmonic window are presented.Finally,the proposed adaptive harmonic window is applied to weak signal extraction and high frequency orbit extraction of high speed rotor under strong noise,and the satisfactory results are achieved.The application results show that the adaptive harmonic window function can be successfully applied to the actual engineering signal processing. 展开更多

A novel adaptive digital image watermark algorithm is proposed. Fuzzy c-means clustering (FCM) is used to classify the original image blocks into two classes based on several characteristic parameters of human visual system (HVS). One is suited for embedding a digital watermark, the other is not. So the appropriate blocks in an image are selected to embed the watermark. The wetermark is embedded in the middle-frequency part of the host image in conjunction with HVS and discrete cosine transform (DCT). The maximal watermark strength is fixed according to the frequency masking. In the same time, for the good performance, the watermark is modulated into a fractal modulation array. The simulation results show that we can remarkably extract the hiding watermark and the algorithm can achieve good robustness with common signal distortion or geometric distortion and the quality of the watermarked image is guaranteed. 展开更多

To preserve the original signal as much as possible and filter random noises as many as possible in image processing,a threshold optimization-based adaptive template filtering algorithm was proposed.Unlike conventional filters whose template shapes and coefficients were fixed,multi-templates were defined and the right template for each pixel could be matched adaptively based on local image characteristics in the proposed method.The superiority of this method was verified by former results concerning the matching experiment of actual image with the comparison of conventional filtering methods.The adaptive search ability of immune genetic algorithm with the elitist selection and elitist crossover(IGAE) was used to optimize threshold t of the transformation function,and then combined with wavelet transformation to estimate noise variance.Multi-experiments were performed to test the validity of IGAE.The results show that the filtered result of t obtained by IGAE is superior to that of t obtained by other methods,IGAE has a faster convergence speed and a higher computational efficiency compared with the canonical genetic algorithm with the elitism and the immune algorithm with the information entropy and elitism by multi-experiments. 展开更多

Different people will exhibit different characteristics, and hence determining the characteristic points of the pulse wave of human physiological health makes sense. It is common that we extract the characteristic value of pulse wave signal with the method based on wavelet transform on a small scale, and then determine the locations of the characteristic points by modulus maxima and modulus minima. Before determining characteristic value by detecting modulus maxima and modulus minima, we need to determine every period of the pulse wave. This paper presents a new kind of adaptive threshold determination method which is more effective. It can accurately determine every period of the pulse wave, and then extract characteristic values by modulus maxima and modulus minima in every period of the pulse wave. The multirate information extraction and the controlling of outliers were properly integrated to establish an adaptive outlier controlling multirate model. The proposed model was applied to multisensor state fusion with interacting multiple model (IMM), and a robust interacting multisensor state fusion algorithm was established based on adaptive outlier controlling multirate model. The Monte-Carlo simulation shows that it could improve the accuracy of fusion estimation by 70% compared to Hong’s algorithm and at least 14% to Xiao’s algorithm. 展开更多

This study aimed to deal with three challenges:robustness,imperceptibility,and capacity in the image watermarking field.To reach a high capacity,a novel similarity-based edge detection algorithm was developed that finds more edge points than traditional techniques.The colored watermark image was created by inserting a randomly generated message on the edge points detected by this algorithm.To ensure robustness and imperceptibility,watermark and cover images were combined in the high-frequency subbands using Discrete Wavelet Transform and Singular Value Decomposition.In the watermarking stage,the watermark image was weighted by the adaptive scaling factor calculated by the standard deviation of the similarity image.According to the results,the proposed edge-based color image watermarking technique has achieved high payload capacity,imperceptibility,and robustness to all attacks.In addition,the highest performance values were obtained against rotation attack,to which sufficient robustness has not been reached in the related studies. 展开更多

At the present stage, there are different algorithms in image edge detection, however, different types of algorithms have divergent disadvantages so It is diffi cult to detect the image changes in a reasonable range. >Transformer faults are quite complicated phenomena and can occur due to a variety of reasons.There have been several methods for transformer fault synthetic diagnosis,but each of them has its own limitations in re... >Transformer faults are quite complicated phenomena and can occur due to a variety of reasons.There have been several methods for transformer fault synthetic diagnosis,but each of them has its own limitations in real fault diagnosis applications.In order to overcome those shortcomings in the existing methods,a new transformer fault diagnosis method based on a wavelet neural network optimized by adaptive genetic algorithm(AGA)and an improved D-S evidence theory fusion technique is proposed in this paper.The proposed method combines the oil chromatogram data and the off-line electrical test data of transformers to carry out fault diagnosis.Based on the fusion mechanism of D-S evidence theory,the comprehensive reliability of evidence is constructed by considering the evidence importance,the outputs of the neural network and the expert experience.The new method increases the objectivity of the basic probability assignment(BPA)and reduces the basic probability assigned for uncertain and unimportant information.The case study results of using the proposed method show that it has a good performance of fault diagnosis for transformers. 展开更多
