Methods Male Spraque-Dawley rats were fed either with normal diet (ND) or high calorie diet (HC) for 20 weeks. BW and BP of tail artery were observed biweekly and tetraweekly respectively; serum leptin and fasting insulin (FINS) were detected by enzyme-linked immunoadsordent assay (ELISA) and radioimmunoassay (RIA) respectively. Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and free fatty acid(FFA) were measured by conventional means. Results BW, abdominal fat weight (AFW), ratio of abdominal fat weight to body weight (R_ F/W), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), serum levels of leptin and FINS, FPG, FFA increased in the HD group after 20 weeks diet intervention (P<0.05 or P<0.01). SBP was strongly correlated with BW, leptin, FINS and FFA (P<0.05), DBP was correlated with FFA (r=0.47, P<0.05). In addition, leptin was positively correlated with BW, AFW, R_ F/W, FINS and FFA (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion In this study of high calorie-diet induced rats, the gain of BW is accompanied by increased BP. The obese rats have hyperleptinemia, hyperinsulinemia, hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia which may have important effects on the development of obesity-related hypertension. R_ F/W is the key factor in which affect serum leptin level.

High salt and fat diets are known to have negative impacts on food intake (FI), body weight (BW), body composition (BC), glucose metabolism, and blood pressure. These factors have been studied as separate entities, but the main and interactive effects of dietary salt and fat received little study. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of sodium and fat content of the diet on FI, BW, and BC in male Wistar rats. Male Wistar Rats (n = 48) were allocated into 4 groups (n = 12) and received the following diets: 1. Normal sodium normal fat, 2. Normal sodium high fat, 3. High sodium normal fat, and 4. High sodium high-fat diet for 12 weeks. BW and FI were measured weekly. BC and organs’ weight were recorded post-termination. Regardless of sodium content, a greater FI was observed in normal-fat diet groups compared with high-fat diet groups. However, higher BW and fat (%) were observed in high-fat diet groups. Fasting blood glucose was higher in rats fed normal fat diets compared with those fed high-fat diets. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure was lower in rats fed either high fat, high salt, or normal fat, normal salt diet. In conclusion, fat but not salt content in the diet is a determining factor in the regulation of FI and body weight. Moreover, glucose metabolism can be influenced by both the fat and salt content of the diet.

方法:在中国知网、PubMed、Web of Science、Cochrane Library和EBSCO-SPO...

A population of 69 subjects averaging 41.7 ± 6.6 years old had their data registered by applying the Bruce Protocol modified to calculate metabolic variables;to obtain the percentage of fat, the formula of Petroski was used. The data collected received statistical treatment by the “Statistical 5.0” program with correlation being made by the calculation of the simple coefficient of Pearson “r” by means of a statistical significance test (p < 0.05). In the results, heart rate appeared to be correlated essentially with the intensity of force, associating itself with the percentage of fat and the BMI. Blood pressure presented a good correlation with the BMI, principally in the female group. In the male group, the anthropometrical indicator that had major associations with blood pressure was the WHR, showing an association between the pattern of male body fat distribution (android) and blood pressure. The double-product had a major correlation with the BMI;however, this variable really reflects the work of the myocardium since the BMI is the only indicator used here that includes lean mass in its values. The time spent on the treadmill was correlated in a negative way only with the percentage of fat;in other words, the greater the percentage, the lesser time spent on the treadmill.
