Knowledge and skills of neonatal resuscitation of health professionals at a university teaching hospital of Northwest Ethiopia

BACKGROUND:Competency in neonatal resuscitation is critical in the delivery rooms,neonatology units and pediatrics intensive care units to ensure the safety and health of neonates. Each year,millions of babies do not breathe immediately at birth,and among them the majority require basic neonatal resuscitation. Perinatal asphyxia is a major contributor to neonatal deaths worldwide in resource-limited settings. Neonatal resuscitation is effective only when health professionals have sufficient knowledge and skills. But malpractices by health professionals are frequent in the resuscitation of neonates. The present study was to assess the knowledge and skills of health professionals about neonatal resuscitation.METHODS:An institution based cross-sectional study was conducted in our hospital from February15 to April 30,2014. All nurses,midwives and residents from obstetrics-gynecology(obsgyn),midwifery and pediatric departments were included. The mean scores of knowledge and skills were compared for sex,age,type of profession,qualification,year of service and previous place of work of the participants by using Student's t test and ANOVA with Scheffe's test. A P value <0.05 was considered statistically significant.RESULTS:One hundred and thirty-five of 150 participants were included in this study with a response rate of 90.0%. The overall mean scores of knowledge and skills of midwives,nurses and residents were 19.9(SD=3.1) and 6.8(SD=3.9) respectively. The mean knowledge scores of midwives,nurses,pediatric residents and obs-gyn residents were 19.7(SD=3.03),20.2(SD=2.94),19.7(SD=4.4) and 19.6(SD=3.3) respectively. Whereas the mean scores of skills of midwives,nurses,pediatric residents and obs-gyn residents were 7.1(SD=4.17),6.7(SD=3.75),5.7(SD=4.17) and 6.6(SD=3.97) respectively.CONCLUSIONS:The knowledge and skills of midwives,nurses and residents about neonatal resuscitation were substandardized. Training of neonatal resuscitation for midwives,nurses and residents should be emphasized.

Promotion of Project-Based Learning Aimed at Professional Skills

Project-based learning theory is applied in Software English course. The aim is to develop students＇ professional skill. A professional skill scale of software engineer is introduced with Software English communicative skill （reading skill, writing skill, listening skill, and communicative skill）, engineering thinking habit （skill of design the plan and problem-solving skill）, engineering thinking skill, knowledge of software engineering, and Emotion Quotient to deal with problems （Team spirit and communicative skill and self-assessment skill）. For software majors, students learn about five stages and job responsibilities in software making process.

A Review and Reflection on the Cultivation of Normal Students’ Vocational Skills in Local Normal Universities under the Background of Teacher Training Professional Certification

Professional certification for students of educational majors provides a crucial guideline for the cultivation of teachers.The cornerstone of development for local normal universities is to uphold the characteristics of teacher education and highlight the history and tradition of teacher education,because the level of teacher vocational skills of students in normal universities has a direct impact on faculty strength of basic education.Consequently,based on an analysis of necessity and feasibility of teacher vocational skill training for students in normal universities amid the professional certification for students of educational majors in a new era,four approaches are proposed in this article as follows:(1)upholding the characteristics of cultivation of students of educational majors while optimizing curriculum planning;(2)innovating training methods for better guiding capacity;(3)coordinating training management for guaranteed education quality;(4)improving performance evaluation mechanism for a training path towards an assessment system.

Research on the Approaches of Improving Computer Majored Students Professional Skills under Human-priority Concept Perspective

In this paper, we conduct research on the approaches of improving the computer majored students professional skills under human-priority concept perspective. Along with the social economy high speed development, our country has entered the informationization, the networking, digital age, more and more people rely on computers to carry out the activities, the computer has completely integrated into the people work, study and life. At the same time, the rapid development of general information society makes the connection between the science and technology is more and more closely. From education itself level, skills contest for the establishment of the talents training goal of vocational education and general correction, through the interaction between higher vocational colleges to establish the corresponding talent training basic scheme. Our research starts from the core analysis of the human-priority concept to propose the approaches of improving the computer majored students professional skills that will promote the further development of the related students.

Clinical Supervision and Non-Technical Professional Development Skills in the Context of Patient Safety—The Views of Nurse Specialist Students

The aim of the study was to evaluate nurse specialist students’ views of clinical supervision (CS) and its influence on their professional competence development. An additional aim was to interpret the results and link them to non-technical skills and Patient Safety (PS) topics. The research question was: What are the benefits of clinical supervision focusing on non-technical skills in the area of PS? A cross-sectional study of 46 nurse specialist students was conducted by means of questionnaires and exploratory factor analysis. Factors that influenced the nurse specialist students’ competencies were: interpersonal, professional and communication skills in addition to awareness of ethical skills, the importance of teamwork and the benefit of involving patients and their family members in safe care. The results were linked to non-technical skills and PS competencies. Clinical supervision is crucial for the development of non-technical skills and PS competencies among nurse specialist students. However, finding time to reflect and learn from the supervision was reported to be a problem. Over half of the students stated they did not have enough time for supervision. Thus, there is a potential for quality improvement. We recommend that universities should provide formal educational programmes for supervisors focusing on the professional development of students, especially in the area of non-technical skills. In conclusion, CS should be prioritised by management and clinical leaders as it enhances PS.

City Professionals Bring Their Skills to Countryside

In October 1995 eight departments of the central government and the Party central committee, including the Ministry of Culture and the CPC Publicity Department, jointly launched a national program to send culture （principally entertainment） to the countryside. In 1996, under the joint sponsorship of ten departments of the central authorities, the national program broadened to include science/technology and medical services. The program, known as ＂Three Things for the Countryside,＂ has been executed for ten years. How good is their effect？ What are peasants＇ reactions to the program？ To find an answer, these reporters have recently visited Tianjin, Hunan and Shandong.

Research on the Role of Guiding Students to Participate in Skills Competitions on the Development of Young Teachers in Vocational Colleges

This paper explores the role of guiding students to participate in skills competitions on the development of young teachers in vocational colleges.We investigate the impact of skills competitions on the consolidation of professional knowledge,development of innovation capabilities,improvement of hands-on abilities,and enhancement of communication skills with students.The results of this research demonstrate that skills competitions have a positive influence on the professional growth of young teachers.The consolidation of professional knowledge,development of innovation capabilities,improvement of hands-on abilities,and enhancement of communication skills collectively contribute to the effectiveness of young teachers in vocational colleges.It is recommended that vocational colleges prioritize and support the participation of young teachers in skills competitions to foster their professional development.

Nurses'critical thinking disposition and professional commitment:a cross-sectional study

Objective:High-quality and successful nursing care delivery in a variety of situations requires critical thinking training and professional commitment.The present study aimed to investigate critical thinking disposition,professional commitment,and the relationship between these 2 variables among nurses.Methods:As a result of stratified random sampling,201 nurses were enrolled in the present cross-sectional study.Data were gathered using a socio-demographic form,the Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory(CTDI),and the Nurses'Professional Commitment Scale(NPCS).Results:Although the critical thinking disposition scores were at a moderate level(115.70±13.55),the mean score for professional commitment was high(91.37±11.77).A positive correlation was found between critical thinking disposition and professional commitment(r=0.67,P=0.001).Conclusions:Nursing managers are urged to employ strategies to enhance nurses'critical thinking disposition and professional commitment.

专业技能课程四位一体多元化教学模式研究

针对传统理工科专业技能理论课程教学中实践不足等问题,构建并应用“课堂互动学习+网络辅助学习+课外实践深化+多元化评价学习效果”四位一体的多元化教学模式。该教学模式可充分发挥教师课上主导性与学生课下自主性,采用翻转课堂、案例式教学等方式引导学生互动式学习,线上学习激发学生的自主学习意识,实现对课堂讲授的有益补充。课外利用科研平台和课程实践环节,强化理论知识的理解和应用,培养学生发现问题、解决问题的能力;通过知识、能力、素质并重的多元化考核方式进行短期和长期评价。教学实践显示,该模式教学效果良好,可为高等理工科专业的专业技能理论课教学提供借鉴和思考。

“网络法治”视域下专业课程思政教学设计探索

互联网的发展与安全有着千丝万缕的关联,网络安全是防线也是底线。为增强职业高校课程的针对性和科学性,该文从网络法治的角度对课程目标重构、学情分析、创新教学模式、教学评价与反思,进一步探索网络法治安全融入高职高专类专业课程的新思路,培养“德法兼修”“德技兼修”素养和专业技能相互作用,协同发展的新时代大学生。

中国高校文物保护本科专业发展历程与课程体系建设——以西北大学文物保护专业为例

为了解我国文物保护本科专业高等教育人才培养与课程体系建设的现状及存在问题,本文通过对我国文物保护专业发展历程的梳理,以及现阶段各高校文物保护相关专业课程体系的分析,将课程体系分为科学型和美术型两种类别,每个类别下又包含5个模块,厘清了文物保护课程开设的现状及发展最新趋势;基于文物保护课程体系建设提出了我国当前文物保护专业教育的多学科课程教学需求、师资力量相对薄弱、教材缺乏、实验条件有限等教学问题,并以西北大学为例介绍了该校近年来文物保护专业教育的改革举措,以期为我国文物保护专业教育的未来发展提供借鉴。

住院医师规范化培训急诊专业技能培训中教师和学员的认知差异

背景住院医师规范化培训是培养高素质临床医师队伍的关键,急诊医学科是救治急危重症患者的前沿阵地,更是培养优秀临床住院医师的重要训练营。医学技能培训是住院医师规范化培训的重要内容,急诊核心技能培训涵盖的项目较多,教师和学员对具体培训项目的认知存在差异,会影响技能培训的效率和质量。目的调查分析河北省住院医师规范化培训急诊专业技能培训中教师和学员对培训项目的认知差异。方法2021年10月,选取来自河北省15家急诊住院医师规范化培训基地,准备参加河北省住院医师规范化培训技能大赛的教师和学员共103名作为调查对象,其中教师37名、学员66名。依据《临床技能操作细化流程及评分标准》,对13个急诊核心技能培训项目,按细化流程操作步骤制定电子调查问卷,进行“难易度”和“操作时遗漏情况”评分调查。结果教师和学员在“难易度”方面,对7个项目(53.85%):心电图采集术、动脉穿刺术、腹腔穿刺术、单人心肺复苏术、中心静脉穿刺术、气管插管术、三腔两囊管置入术,25个步骤(16.45%)的认知存在差异,教师的“难易度”认知评分低于学员(P<0.05)。教师和学员在“操作时遗漏情况”方面,对9个项目(69.23%):心电图采集术、腹腔穿刺术、单人心肺复苏术、中心静脉穿刺术、气管插管术、三腔两囊管置入术、腰椎穿刺术、无创通气术、胸腔穿刺术,和24个步骤(15.79%)认知存在差异,教师的“操作时遗漏情况”认知评分低于学员(P<0.05);其余3个培训项目(环甲膜穿刺术、同步电复律术、骨髓穿刺术)教师和学员在操作各步骤“难易度”“操作时遗漏情况”方面的认知比较,差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论教师和学员对急诊核心技能培训“难易度”和“操作时遗漏情况”方面确实存在差异,一方面可促进临床技能培训课程设置的改进,提高培训效率,为培养高层次、高水平、应用型的医学人才提供方法学基础;另一方面,提示在今后住院医师规范化培训的类似相关研究中,在涉及教师和学员两个群体时,要考虑到二者之间可能存在差异,以期更客观地反映和探究住院医师规范化培训相关问题。

基于具身认知理论的护理本科生专业技能BCIS训练模式的构建及实施

目的:基于具身认知理论构建护理本科生专业技能BCIS训练模式并实施。方法:基于具身认知理论的三维特性,结合护理专业技能训练的特点,分析专业教学现存的问题,探索全新的护理本科生专业技能BCIS训练模式。结果:构建了全新的护理本科生专业技能BCIS训练模式并在护理本科生专业技能训练中实施,取得了一定的成绩。但仍存在理论与技能训练的结合尚不充分的问题。结论:构建的全新的护理本科生专业技能BCIS训练模式可为护理技能大赛的备赛训练提供可行性策略。

以中职“零部件测绘与CAD成图技术”为例,探讨了职业技能大赛对专业教学建设的促进作用,职业技能大赛在提高学生职业技能水平、增强学生学习动力和参与度、促进专业教学改革、推动教学质量提升等方面的作用。结合实践经验,对如何进一步发挥职业技能大赛的作用,推动专业教学建设提出了具体建议,加强职业技能大赛与课程设置的衔接、提高教师的职业素养和教学能力、开展教学研究,推动教育教学改革等。

探讨了基于工作过程导向的职业学校机械专业技能训练模式的创新实践。通过深入分析当前职业学校机械专业技能训练的现状与问题,结合行业需求与企业实际,提出了一套以工作过程为核心,注重实践技能与职业素养相结合的训练模式。该模式通过构建模拟实际工作环境的实训平台,引入企业真实案例与项目,实现学生技能训练的情境化、实战化,从而提高学生的职业适应能力和综合竞争力。实践表明,该训练模式在提升教学质量、促进学生就业等方面取得了显著成效。

Analysis on professional knowledge and skill level of pharmaceutical perso nnel in Shanxi

[目的] 分析陕西省药学人员专业知识技能水平情况,为卫生部门制定相关政策提供理论依据. [方法]利用调查问卷调查了 428名陕西省药学人员的专业知识技能水平,并利用多元线性回归、Peuon系数 法等方法对影响因素进行分析.[结果]陕西省药学人员专业技能的平均得分为67.68分,高于90分的占 0.47%,80-90分的占19.39%,70- 80分的占33.64%; 总分与学历呈负相关,与工作岗位、职称呈正相关. [结论]陕西省药学人员的理论成绩得分不高,研究生和本科人员的总分明显高于其他学历人员,学历、职 称和工作岗位是影响其药学知识的因素.

Professional One-Day Training Course in BIM: A Practice Overview of Multi-Applicability in Construction

The implementation of Building Information modelling (BIM) methodology in the construction industry has been covering wide applicability with recognized benefits in designing, constructing and operating buildings. A recent short course organized in the University of Lisbon, actualized with the most relevant achievement based in master research, was offered to professionals of the industry, namely, architects and civil engineers coming from diverse engineering areas, environment, construction, maintenance, consult and patrimonial enterprises and also from public organizations like city councils. The proposed action covers the areas of construction (conflict analysis, planning and materials take-off), structures (interoperability, analyses and transfer of information between software) and the most recent Heritage Building Information Modelling (HBIM) topic. The course aims to contribute to the dissemination of the potential of BIM in the areas of designing, construction and refurbishing of historical buildings. The participants followed the course with great interest and satisfaction, formulating several questions directed to the particular activity of each of the attendees.

Computer Assisted Learning for Improving Cattle Palpation Skills of Veterinary Students

This study investigated the effect of a computer assisted learning (CAL) tool on the development of skills in palpation of the reproductive tract of the cow per rectum (rectal palpation) by fourth-year students in a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) degree program. A secondary aim was to determine if animal welfare could be improved by the CAL intervention. The CAL tool was developed to provide: vivid, three-dimensional interactive graphics of the relevant anatomy and skills;a comprehensive glossary of terminology used in association with the skills;and formative assessment tasks. Prior to its introduction to the course, industry stakeholders assessed the CAL tool graphics as an accurate depiction of the procedures. Two consecutive cohorts of students were surveyed prior to (n = 91) and after the CAL intervention (n = 111). Responses to student surveys suggested that post-intervention skills were learned at approximately the same rate as pre-intervention. However, tutor surveys indicated that students in the pre-intervention group may have had insufficient understanding for accurate self-assessment compared to post-intervention students. According to tutors, substantially more students in the post-intervention group gained practical skills at an improved rate and to a higher level of competency. Both student and tutor surveys indicated that there was a minimal discomfort to animals in these practical classes. From an animal welfare point-of-view, it was concluded that the intervention would not result in a reduction in the number of animals required during practical sessions. However, due to the preparation and reinforcement provided by the CAL tool, animals were used more efficiently by students after the intervention, resulting in the attainment of a higher level of skill. Knowledge gained from this study may be relevant to other disciplines requiring students to develop practical skills associated with animals or humans.

Exploration of Professional Practice Teaching Skill of Higher Vocational English Education

Higher vocational English education major is an important channel to train teaching staff for primary and secondary schools of China and professional skill is one of essential factors which forms the training goal of higher vocational English education.In view of this, this article summarizes the current status of practice teaching of higher vocational English education which aims to explore a set of teaching ideas, teaching modes and teaching theories that suit professional skills training practice of higher vocational education, so as to find some effective teaching methods for professional skill training practice to meet the social requirements for the graduates and pave the way for their future employment.
