Investigation of English learning strategy employed by senior middle school students in Zhanjiang City： A comparison of students from urban and rural areas

After a review of learning strategy research in China and abroad, this paper made an investigation on the differences in use of learning strategies reported by urban and rural students from four middle schools in Zhanjiang city. The investigation revealed the following findings： urban students employ cognitive and social strategies more frequently than rural students; urban students reported a wider range of strategies compared with their rural peers; urban students of intermediate achievements employ more social strategies than their rural peers, while rural students use affective strategy significantly more often; urban and rural students reported different patterns of gender difference.

Preliminary Exploration on English Reading Strategy of Senior Middle School

Reading for most people is the main means to gain knowledge and the importance of it has already been widely accepted.Also,it has been regarded as the most necessary foreign language skill in most countries' teaching syllabus of colleges and middle schools,which requires the learners to master it badly.So how to explore teaching theory of foreign language reading has become an important task for study of foreign language teaching methods.In this study,some reading theories and reading strategies provided can be helpful to developing senior middle school students' linguistic ability and improving their reading efficiency.

Adoption Strategy for Cloud Computing in Research Institutions: A Structured Literature Review

Currently, Kenyan research institutions Information Technology operations use external storage, within or without institutional network environments. This study presents a structured literature review of a cloud computing adoption strategy for research institutions in Kenya. The reviews objectives are: 1) to establish the characteristics/peculiarities and IT environments of research institutions in Kenya, 2) current cloud computing technologies, adoption approaches and drivers in the adoption of cloud computing. The findings are that there is need for an adoption strategy for Cloud computing in the Kenyan research Institutions that will use a DOI and TOE combined approach while addressing technological, organizational and environmental factors. The findings are used to propose a cloud computing adoption strategy for the Kenyan Research Institutions in future research.

A Research on Middle School Students'English Reading Obstacles and Strategies

English reading,a key procedure of English learning and teaching in middle school,is an essential way of getting information from the globe and communicating with others.Therefore,efficient comprehension on reading materials will directly serve for accepting the information.And it is extremely important for middle school students to acquire certain reading ability.At present,great attention has been paid to the course of reading in the instruction of English by the Chinese Education Department.But middle school students'read ing ability is still much lower than the target they should reach because of a set of existing obstacles that prevent them from being effective English readers.What are these obstacles? How to break them down? This paper will first point out and then analyze the obstacles that af fect middle school students'reading ability from two aspects:linguistic obstacles(obstacles of lexicon,grammar and background knowl edge) and non-linguistic obstacles(obstacles of psychology,interest,skill,and habit).After demonstrating different obstacles,the paper also come up with some corresponding strategies in the hope of helping middle school students to be effective English readers.

Farmers Perceptions about Climate Change, Management Practice and Their On-Farm Adoption Strategies at Rice Fields in Sapu and Kuntaur of the Gambia, West Africa

Lowland rice production is highly vulnerable to extreme temperature as a result of climate change. The study analyses farmer’s perception about climate change, management practice and their on-farm adoption strategies at the rice fields of Sapu and Kuntaur study location. The selected villages were the main rice production area, where rice is a monoculture crop. Focus group discussion was held with twenty rice growing farmers at Sapuand Kuntaur, and these were divided into five groups. Personal interview and key informant involves the two village head, two youth development chairpersons (VDC) and the extension worker overseeing both villages. This was done to gain in-depth knowledge on the subject matter. The analysis results indicated that more than 50% of the rice growing farmers were female and do not undergo formal education. More than 70% of them having perceived knowledge on the causes of climate change, inorganic fertilizer use, transplanting of rice seedlings, use of improved rice varieties, and on-farm coping strategies such as changing of cropping calendar and the use of pesticides to cope with current and future climate situation.

Optimum development options and strategies for water injection development of carbonate reservoirs in the Middle East

Through the research on several carbonate reservoirs developed in the Middle East, the basic characteristics of different types of carbonate reservoirs are determined, and a set of high-efficiency water injection development options and strategies are presented. Hidden baffles and barriers exist in carbonate reservoirs in the Middle East, so the reservoirs could be divided into different separated development units based on the baffles and barriers characteristics. Flexible and diverse profile control techniques such as high angle wells and simple and applicative zonal water injection have been introduced to improve the control and development degree of reservoirs. Three principal water injection development methods suitable for different carbonate reservoirs in the Middle East are proposed, including the combination of crestal gas injection and peripheral water injection, bottom interval injection and top interval production(buoyancy underpinning), and "weak point and strong plane" area well pattern. Based on the characteristics of very low shale content, fast and far pressure transmission in the Middle East carbonate reservoirs, a large well-spacing flood pattern is recommended, and reasonable development strategies have been made such as moderate water injection rate and maintaining reasonable production pressure drawdown and voidage replacement ratio, so as to maximize the recovery of reservoirs in the none or low water cut period.

Cloud Computing Perceived Importance in the Middle Eastern Firms: The Cases of Jordan, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates from the Operational Level

Firms need cloud computing adoption for strategic and competitive goals, generating business value, and at last gaining competitive advantage. This study reviews the literature regarding cloud computing and IT governance, and presents a research model along with its hypotheses formulation to examine the factors impacting cloud computing perceived importance in several Arab firms, specifically Jordan, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates by using the integration of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) model and Technology-Organizational-Environmental (TOE) framework as adapted from [1]. 329 returned surveys from top, middle-level IT managers, and IT employees from the operational level of the studied firms were analyzed using the structural equation modeling technique. The study found relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, organizational readiness, top management commitment, and training and education as important variables for impacting cloud computing adoption using perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness as mediating variables. The model explained 61%, 63%, and 74% of cloud computing adoption for perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and perceived importance respectively.

The Strategies of Reading in English Teaching in Middle School

A Meta-cognitive Research on Middle School Students

After meta-cognitive being proposed masses of researches came to the identical result that one's meta-cognition ability has a direct relation to his/her language acquisition ability. Meta-cognition strategy training is helpful for the language learner to acknowledge how to study, how to monitor, evaluating and adjusting one's study process. This research tried to study the present situation of meta-cognitive strategy usage status of students from minority areas base on the data collected by the questionnaire.

Ways to Overcome Foreign Language Anxiety in Listening and Speaking for Middle School Students

Listening and speaking, being important components in English language learning, are affected by many factors,includ-ing one negative emotion, foreign language anxiety. This paper discusses the effects of foreign language anxiety on middle schoolstudents in English listening and speaking. It analyzes the causes of this anxiety in terms of teachers, students, schools, methodolo-gies and cultural background. The relevant teaching strategies are presented to reduce students' language anxiety and improvetheir listening and speaking.

The Internet-EDI Systems Adoption by Enterprises in Jordan: Descriptive analysis of Adoption, Strategies and Benefits

This paper reviewed and explored the current extent of the Internet Electronic Data Interchange systems adoption in Jordan particularly in the SME sector. Also the paper presented the benefits of IEDI adoption and showed the main obstacles facing the SME in Jordan to adopt. This paper used the descriptive and theoretical analysis approaches for collecting and analysis the historical and archived data. The literature showed that Jordan, as a developing country, has achieved forward steps in introducing the Internet to the different sectors of life. The adoption of the electronic tools in business became a governmental target in recent years to make it possible for SMEs to be able to continue to achieve success in their business [1]. Most of Jordanian SMEs have little or no competitive pressure to use I-EDI systems, since most suppliers, customers and other competitors do not seem to promote I-EDI systems. The study concluded that SMEs in Jordan could grow and become larger companies, and supporting national economy. Thus it is very important to develop and grow Jordanian SMEs by doing more research.

Commonly Used Motivational Strategies in Middle School EFL Classroom

Following Dornyei and Csize r＇s （1998） theoretical hamework of motivational strategies in the L2 classroom, this paper, through a case study, looks into the common use of motivational strategies in Chinese middle school EFL classroom.

Physiotherapist-led home-based physical activity program versus community group exercise for middle-aged adults: Quasi-experimental comparison

Objectives: Program method, program deliverer and participant preference may be important factors in increasing physical activity adherence and program effectiveness. To investigate this, we compared two physical activity interventions in middle-aged adults. Methods: Using a pragmatic quasi-experimental design, sedentary community dwelling 50 - 65 year olds (n = 2105) were recruited to a non-randomized 6-month community group exercise program (n = 93) or a physiotherapist-led home-based physical activity program (n = 65). The primary outcome was physical activity adherence derived from exercise diaries. Secondary outcomes included the Active Australia Survey, aerobic capacity (step- test), quality of life (SF-12v2), blood pressure, waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) and body mass index. Results: Home-based participants were more likely to be younger, working full-time and not in a relationship (p Thirty-three percent of the group participants attended ≥ 70% of group exercise sessions. Ninety percent of home-based participants received ≥ 4 of the planned 6 telephone support calls. Intention-to-treat analysis found adherence to the physical activity sessions prescribed was the same for both interventions (26% ± 28% vs. 28% ± 35%). Both interventions significantly increased the number of participants achieving self-reported “sufficient” physical activity (p ≤ 0.001) and significantly decreased waist circumference (p < 0.001) and WHR (p 0.05). Conclusion: The physiotherapist- led home-based physical activity program, requiring few resources, appears to have increased the adoption of physical activity and adherence to physical activity program requirements for sedentary middle-aged adults. The home-based program, providing equivalent health benefits to the group exercise program, may be particularly suitable for those not interested in or unable to attend a group exercise program. A Study on Current Situation and Strategies of Oral English Teaching in Nanguan Middle School in Huyi District

With the development of society and the deepening of economic globalization,as a common language in today's world,the role of English is inereasingly prominent.In recent years,with the advent of the Chinese Dream and the establishment of the Economic Belt of the Belt and Road,there is no doubt that China needs a large number of proficient people speaking English fluently to tell the world the stories of China,to spread the brilliant history of Chinese cultures and to play an important role in the inereasingly colse international exchanges and cooperation.However,as we all know,oral English teaching has always been quite weak in Chinese junior high schools.Huyi district,located in the central and western regions of China,not only has the commonalities of the western regions but also has its own unique personalities in oral English teaching.Although it has made great progress,some problems in teaching should be solved.Based on this,the thesis mainly aims to find out the problems that exist in oral English teaching of Nanguan Middle School by questionnaire and put forward corresponding countermeasures for these problems in order to promote the development of oral English teaching in middle schools in Huyi district.

Analyzing the Teaching Strategies for Physical Education in Middle Schools Under the Background of the New Curriculum
