Then the microstructure and property of the Ti-24Al-15Nb- 1.5Mo/TC 11 welding interface were investigated. The results show that the phase constitution of the weld is not related to the heat input, and is mainly composed of α' phase. Moreover, the intermetallic phases of TiEAlNb, MoNb, NbaAl, and TiAl3 are formed in the weld zone. Therefore, the microhardness value of the weld zone is higher than that of the other portions in the same sample. The profile of the weld is asymmetrically fimnel-like. The grain sizes of the weld and its heat-affected zones are increased with increasing heat input. There is an obvious difference in the element content of the welding interface; only the alloying elements in the fusion zone reach a new balance during solidification.展开更多

The results showed that the mechanical properties of the forgings made by the new process are far higher than that in the standard of GB223 84, and also higher than that in the standard of EL/53MI 94; moreover, the mechanical properties are almost the same in each direction, and anisotropies are very small. The grains and 2nd phases were analyzed by using TEM and SEM, the results indicate that very fine grains (3~6 μm)appear in an approximately isometric way, and a large number of 2nd submicrophases(0.05~0.15 μm) disappear in no apparently preferred orientation distribution because the new process involves multidirectional heavy plastic deformation (λ=12), solution(500 ℃/400 min) and ageing(165 ℃/10 h) heat treatments for a long time at high temperatures. These refined grains, 2nd submicrophases and their almost homogeneous distribution can make it possible for the forgings to display high mechanical properties.展开更多

Based on the experiment, the best welding parameters were determined to ensure the penetration welding. The detailed microstructure, tensile and fatigue fracture morphology and surface fatigue damage of the welded joints were analyzed by optical microscope(OM), scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS). The results show that there are two main kinds of precipitates, one is the long Si rich precipitates at the grain boundaries, the other is the intragranular Cu rich precipitates. The tensile test results show that the tensile strength of the joint is 224 MPa, which is only 70.2% of the base metal. Through the analysis of tensile fracture, there are great differences in the formation of tensile dimple. In the tensile-tensile fatigue test with a stress rate of 0.1, the conditional fatigue limits of base metal and welded joint are 101.9 MPa and 54.4 MPa, respectively. By comparing the fatigue fracture of the welded joints under different stress amplitudes, it was found that the main factor leading to the fracture of the joint is porosity. Through further analysis of the pore defects, it was found that there are transgranular and intergranular propagation ways of microcracks in the pores, and the mixed propagation way was also found.展开更多

In present work, 6061 aluminum alloys with different states were welded by laser beam welding (LBW). The microstructures of welded joint, before and after heat treating, were investigated. The mechanical properties, such as the tensile properties and microhardness , were tested. And the fracture characteristic was observed by means of scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results show that the 6061 aluminum alloys have superior weldability and the microstructures are different significantly in different states. Besides, the grain boundaries of the joint microstructures become unclear after the heat treating. The strength and the elongations of welded joints could reach to those of the base metal. The tensile fracture occurs in the fusion zone and near 6061-0 alloy. And the fracture presents ductile rupture. Therefore, the LBW is an effective method for 6061 aluminum alloy.展开更多

文摘The Ti-24Al-15Nb-1.5Mo alloy, in the as-forged and heat-treated states, was joined to the as-forged TC 11 titanium alloy by electron beam welding with the heat inputs of 135 and 150 kJ/m. There is an obvious difference in the element content of the welding interface; only the alloying elements in the fusion zone reach a new balance during solidification.
文摘The triangular 2014 aluminium alloy forgings were made by a new process and the traditional process. These refined grains, 2nd submicrophases and their almost homogeneous distribution can make it possible for the forgings to display high mechanical properties.

文摘21-4N(5Cr21Mn9Ni4N)is extensively employed in the production of engine valves, operating under severe conditions.Apart from withstanding high-temperature gas corrosion,it must also endure the impact of cylinder explosion pressure. The predominant failure mode of 21-4N valves is abrasive wear.Surface coatings serve as an effective approach to prevent such failures. In this investigation,Laser cladding technology was utilized to fabricate AlCoCrFeNiTi high entropy alloy coatings onto the surfaces of 21-4N valves.According to the findings, the cladding zone has a normal dendritic microstructure,a good substrate-to-cladding layer interaction, and no obvious flaws. In terms of hardness, the cladding demonstrates an average hardness of 620 HV.The hardness has increased by 140%compared to the substrate. The average hardness of the cladding remains at approximately 520 HV even at elevated temperatures.Regarding frictional wear performance, between 400℃and 800℃,the cladding layer exhibits an average friction coefficient of 0.4,with the primary wear mechanisms being abrasive wear, adhesive wear, and a minor degree of plastic deformation.
文摘This paper reports the effects of post weld heat treatments, namely artificial ageing and solution treatment followed by artificial ageing, on microstructure and mechanical properties of 12 mm thick friction stir welded joints of precipitation hardenable high strength armour grade AA7075-T651 aluminium alloy. The tensile properties, such as yield strength, tensile strength, elongation and notch tensile strength, are evaluated and correlated with the microhardness and microstructural features. The scanning electron microscope is used to characterie the fracture surfaces. The solution treatment followed by ageing heat treatment cycle is found to be marginally beneficial in improving the tensile properties of friction stir welds of AA7075-T651 aluminium alloy.

文摘Joints between two different grades of aluminium alloys are need of the hour in many light weight military structures. In this investigation,an attempt has been made to join the heat treatable(AA 6061) and non-heat treatable(AA 5086) aluminium alloys by friction stir welding(FSW)process using three different tool pin profiles like straight cylindrical, taper cylindrical and threaded cylindrical. The microstructures of various regions were observed and analyzed by means of optical and scanning electron microscope. The tensile properties and microhardness were evaluated for the welded joint. From this investigation it is founded that the use of threaded pin profile of tool contributes to better flow of materials between two alloys and the generation of defect free stir zone.It also resulted in higher hardness values of 83 HV in the stir zone and higher tensile strength of 169 MPa compared to other two profiles. The increase in hardness is attributed to the formation of fine grains and intermetallics in the stir zone, and in addition, the reduced size of weaker regions, such as TMAZ and HAZ regions, results in higher tensile properties.

文摘Laser-arc hybrid welding of AZ31B magnesium alloy was carried out,the effects of welding parameters on weld formation, microstructure homogeneity and mechanical properties were investigated. The results showed that laser-arc hybrid welding was beneficial to improve the weld formation of magnesium alloy by inhibiting the defect of undercut and pores. The weld microstructure was mainly columnar grains neighboring the fusion line and equiaxed grains at the weld center. It was interesting that the grain size at the upper arc zone was smaller than that at the lower laser zone, with the difference mainly affected by laser power rather than welding current and welding speed. The welding parameters were optimized as laser power of 3.5 kW,welding current of 100 A and welding speed of 1.5 m/min.In this case, the weld was free of undercut and pores, and the tensile strength and elongation rate reached 252 MPa and 11.2%,respectively.Finally,the microstructure homogeneity was illustrated according to the heat distribution, and the evolution law of tensile properties was discussed basing on the weld formation and microstructure characteristics.

文摘2A14-T62 butt joint was successfully welded by stationary shoulder friction stir welding(SSFSW)method. The results showed that using a pin with small shoulder could broaden the process window, and under a rotation speed of 2000 r/min and welding speed of 30 mm/min,joint with smooth surface, small reduction in thickness and little inner defects was obtained. The weld nugget zone was approx-imately circular, which was a unique morphology for SSFSW.The heat-affected zone(HAZ)and thermo-mechanically affected zone(TMAZ)were both quite narrow due to the lower heat input and slight mechanical action of the stationary shoulder. The fraction of high angle grain boundaries(HAGBs)exhibited a“W”shape along horizontal direction(from advancing side to retreating side),and the minim-um value located at HAZ.The average ultimate tensile strength and elongation of the joint were 325 MPa and 4.5%,respectively,with the joint efficiency of 68.3%.The joint was ductile fractured and the fracture surface contained two types of dimples morphology in different re-gions of the joint.Microhardness distribution in the joint exhibited a“W”shape, and the difference along the thickness direction was negli-gible.The joint had strong stress corrosion cracking susceptibility, and the slow stain rate tensile strength was 139 MPa.Microcrack and Al2O3 particulates were observed at the fracture surface.

文摘Pulse laser welding of 0.6 mm-thick AA5052-H32 was performed to determine the optimum set of parameters including laser pulse current, pulse frequency and pulse duration that meets the AWS D17.1 specifications for aerospace industry. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the weldments were also investigated.Relationships between the parameters and weld bead geometry were found.High quality weld joints without solidification crack that met AWS D17.1 requirements were obtained at(I)high pulse energy(25 J)and high average peak power(4.2 kW)and(II)low pulse energy(17.6 J)and low average peak power(2.8 kW).The weld joint formed at lower heat energy input exhibited finer dendritic grain structure.Mg vapourisation and hard phase compound(Al0.5Fe3Si0.5)formation decreased in the weld joint formed at lower heat energy input.Consequently, the tensile strength of the weldment formed at lower heat energy input(168 MPa)is by a factor of 1.15 higher but showed^29%decrease in hardness(111 HV0.1)at the joint when being compared with the weldment formed at higher heat energy input.Appropriate parameters selection is critical to obtaining 0.6 mm-thick AA5052-H32 pulse laser weld joints that meet AWS D17.1 requirements for aircraft structures.

文摘In this paper, 3 mm 6061 aluminum alloy sheets were welded by laser MIG hybrid welding. Through further analysis of the pore defects, it was found that there are transgranular and intergranular propagation ways of microcracks in the pores, and the mixed propagation way was also found.
文摘With the diversification of manufacture methods, joining the same materials with different states becomes indispensable in practical application. Therefore, the LBW is an effective method for 6061 aluminum alloy.

文摘The microstructures and mechanical properties were systematically studied for the high-strength Al−5Mg_(2)Si−1.5Ni alloy fabricated by laser powder bed fusion(L-PBF).It is found that the introduction of Ni(1.5 wt.%)into an Al−5Mg_(2)Si alloy can significantly improve the L-PBF processibility and provide remarkable improvement in mechanical properties. The solidification range of just 85.5 K and the typical Al−Al3Ni eutectics could be obtained in the Ni-modified Al−5Mg_(2)Si samples with a high relative density of 99.8%at the volumetric energy density of 107.4 J/mm^(3).Additionally,the refined hierarchical microstructure was mainly characterized by heterogeneousα-Al matrix grains(14.6μm)that contain the interaction between dislocations and Al−Al3Ni eutectics as well as Mg_(2)Si particles.Through synergetic effects of grain refinement, dislocation strengthening and precipitation strengthening induced by Ni addition, the L-PBFed Al−5Mg_(2)Si−1.5Ni alloy achieved superior mechanical properties, which included the yield strength of(425±15)MPa,the ultimate tensile strength of(541±11)MPa and the elongation of(6.2±0.2)%.
