Effect of heat diffusion on properties of zinc-aluminum coating on AZ91D magnesium alloys

A protecting zinc and aluminum coating on the surface of AZ91D magnesium alloys was obtained by thermal spraying to improve the corrosion and wear resistance performances. In order to enhance the combination between magnesium alloy matrix and zinc and aluminum coating, the sample was heat-treated at 300℃for 2 h, then, the cross-section patterns, XRD pattern, micro-hardness, wear and corrosion resistance abilities were researched. The results indicate that the interface between the coating and substrate is metallurgical bond, and a transitional fusion layer is formed by diffusion. The micro-scale abrasion test and polarization test in 3% NaCl solution show that the diffusion-treated specimen has better wear and corrosion resistance performances in comparison with the undiffusion-treated and substrate magnesium alloys; in addition, it has relatively higher micro-hardness than the undiffusion-treated magnesium alloys. 展开更多

The aluminothermic reduction of zinc oxide(ZnO) from alkaline battery anodes using molten Al may be a good option for the elaboration of secondary 7000-series alloys. This process is affected by the initial content of Mg within molten Al, which decreases the surface tension of the molten metal and conversely increases the wettability of ZnO particles. The effect of initial Mg concentration on the aluminothermic reduction rate of ZnO was analyzed at the following values: 0.90wt%, 1.20wt%, 4.00t%, 4.25wt%, and 4.40wt%. The ZnO particles were incorporated by mechanical agitation using a graphite paddle inside a bath of molten Al maintained at a constant temperature of 1123 K and at a constant agitation speed of 250 r/min, the treatment time was 240 min and the ZnO particle size was 450?500 mesh. The results show an increase in Zn concentration in the prepared alloys up to 5.43wt% for the highest initial concentration of Mg. The reaction products obtained were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, and the efficiency of the reaction was measured on the basis of the different concentrations of Mg studied. 展开更多

The results show that all alloying elements decrease the red content of an alloy at different levels but have different effects on the yellow color. Al and Zn enhance the yellow content of an alloy, whereas Sn, Mn, Si and Ni decrease the yellow content. When the alloys with different karat gold colors are imitated, Al and Zn are the most important color mixing elements and Sn, Mn, Si and Ni can be used as auxiliary. 展开更多

[目的]锌铝镁(Zn-Al-Mg)合金镀层作为一种新型高耐蚀性镀层,其厚度对耐蚀性具有显著影响。[方法]通过辉光放电光谱仪(GDS)、扫描电镜(SEM)、电化学工作站等仪器测试,对比了Zn-Al-Mg合金镀覆量为80、120和180 g/m^(2)的镀锌钢(分别用ZM80、ZM120和ZM180表示)在中性盐雾环境下的耐蚀性。[结果]ZM80、ZM120和ZM180在中性盐雾试验中出现红锈的时间分别为840、1176和1512 h。三者的腐蚀过程包括钝化膜保护、锌层阻隔保护、锌层电偶保护和基体腐蚀4个阶段,其中钝化膜的保护作用与其均匀性有较大关联。ZM120和ZM180的划叉试样在不同时间段的红锈面积与未划叉试样相比无明显区别,这主要归因于Zn-Al-Mg合金镀层在破损区域形成的致密腐蚀产物有效减缓了腐蚀进程。[结论]不同厚度Zn-Al-Mg合金镀层的防腐能力不同,实际生产中可以根据应用场景选择镀层厚度合适的镀锌铝镁合金钢。 展开更多

[目的]中铝锌铝镁钢板亟需一款适合微电机使用场景的自润滑膜层。[方法]通过对中铝锌铝镁表面3种无铬自润滑产品的表面微观形貌及膜层成分进行探究,分析了不同表面处理方式的各项性能,并结合自润滑产品的组成特性及实际使用场景,考察了不同自润滑膜层的耐蚀性、耐磨性等关键性能,明晰了造成各项性能差异的原因。[结果]与1#及2#有机弱酸性体系无铬自润滑产品相比,3#有机-无机复合自润滑膜层是偏无机酸性体系,与钢板表面的界面反应更强,具有较好的附着力,耐蚀性、耐指纹性、导电性、耐磨性等性能也更优。[结论]3#无铬自润滑产品膜层中的磷酸根为腐蚀抑制剂,磷酸盐又是隔离层与粘结层的有效成分,可进一步提高膜层的抗腐蚀能力。氟钛酸作为该涂层的润滑添加剂,不仅充当了提高润滑涂层耐蚀性的缓蚀剂,还充当了填充剂,填充于膜层孔隙中,有利于致密自润滑膜的形成,有效地减小了摩擦因数,提高了成型性能。 展开更多

Al-12Zn-3Mg-2.5Cu alloy was prepared using a liquid metallurgy route under the optimized conditions. A sample cut from the ingot was rolled non-isothermally from 400℃ to 100℃ in 100℃ steps, with 15% reduction in thickness; it was then cold rolled isothermally at room temperature for 85% reduction. The cold-rolled alloys were characterized by electron microscopy, hardness test, and tensile test to elucidate their structural evolution and evaluate their mechanical behavior. In the results, the cast alloy consists of a-aluminum and various intermetallic compounds. These compounds are segregated along the grain boundaries, which makes the alloy difficult to roll at room tem- perature. The combined effect of non-isothermal step rolling and cold rolling results in the nano/microsized compounds distributed uniformly in the matrix. The hardness is substantially increased after rolling. This increase in hardness is attributed to the ultra-fine grain size, fine-scale intermetallic compounds, and structural defects (e.g., dislocations, stacking faults, and sub-grains). The ultimate tensile strength of the rolled alloy is approximately 628 MPa with 7% ductility. 展开更多

The effect of a homogenizing treatment on the hardness of as-cast Zn–Al–Cu alloys was investigated. Eight alloy compositions were prepared and homogenized at 350 °C for 180 h, and their Rockwell 'B' hardness was subsequently measured. All the specimens were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and metallographically prepared for observation by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The results of the present work indicated that the hardness of both alloys(as-cast and homogenized) increased with increasing Al and Cu contents; this increased hardness is likely related to the presence of the θ and τ′ phases. A regression equation was obtained to determine the hardness of the homogenized alloys as a function of their chemical composition and processing parameters, such as homogenization time and temperature, used in their preparation. 展开更多

Zinc-aluminum alloys have been used as bearing materials in the past. In recent years, binary Al-Zn alloys and Al-Zn-Cu alloys are being used as an alternative to the Zn-Al alloys for bearing applications. In this study, both binary Al-25 Zn and Al-3 Cu were prepared using stir casting process. Homogenization of the as-cast alloys was performed at 350oC for 8 h and then, the alloys were furnace-cooled to 50oC. The homogenization led to the removal of the dendritic structure of the as-cast alloys. After homogenization, wear parameters optimization was carried out using Taguchi technique. For this purpose, L9 orthogonal array was selected, and the control parameters selected are load, velocity, and sliding distance. The optimum parametric condition was obtained using signal-to-noise(S/N) ratio analysis, and specific wear rate(SWR) is the selected response. The "smaller-the-better" is the goal of the experiment for S/N ratio analysis. After the optimization, confirmation tests were carried out using analysis of variance(ANOVA) from the developed regression equation. Finally, wear mechanism studies were conducted using scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX) images. 展开更多

The characteristics of microstructure and mechanical strength of the Mg/Al alloy joint diffusion bonded with a Zn interlayer were studied by means of metalloscopy,X-ray diffraction(XRD),electron probe microanalysis(EPMA) and mechanical property test.Investigations showed that the Mg/Al alloy joint diffusion bonded with Zn interlayer consists of a multilayer sandwich structure,including the transition zone on Al side,Zn and Zn-Mg transition zone,as well as the transition zone on Mg side.The transition zone on Al side is very thin and composed mainly of a solid solution structure,while the Zn-Mg transition zone has a relative larger dimension after a rapid eutectic reaction.The addition of zinc interlayer inhibits the inter-diffusion of Mg and Al alloy efficiently.The Zn-Mg transition zone constitutes the main part of the joint and consists of Mg crystals and the new phase formed is MgZn intermetallic compound.The mechanical strength of Mg/Al alloy joints diffusion bonded with Zn interlayer reached 42 MPa.According to the phase constitution analyses executed on each side of the fracture face,it was deduced that the fracture of Mg/Al alloy joint located around the interface of Zn and Zn-Mg transition zone. 展开更多

在保证涂层品质和性能的基础上,为有效降低电弧喷涂丝材的成本,利用电镀技术在锌铝合金丝材上依次电镀纯铜和不同厚度的镍层,再通过电弧喷涂技术在Q235钢表面制备了Zn-Al-Ni-Cu复合涂层,并与传统Zn85Al15和Ni95Al5丝材制备的涂层进行性... 在保证涂层品质和性能的基础上,为有效降低电弧喷涂丝材的成本,利用电镀技术在锌铝合金丝材上依次电镀纯铜和不同厚度的镍层,再通过电弧喷涂技术在Q235钢表面制备了Zn-Al-Ni-Cu复合涂层,并与传统Zn85Al15和Ni95Al5丝材制备的涂层进行性能对比。采用X射线衍射仪(XRD)、能谱仪(EDS)和扫描电子显微镜(SEM)表征了丝材的微观结构和各涂层的物相组成、元素成分及表面形貌。结果表明:合金丝材上镀层的结合力较强,镀层与基体的界面无明显的孔洞。以电镀镍的Zn Al丝材制备的涂层主要包含Zn相、Al相及其两相组成物,其中Zn、Al两相组成物的X射线衍射峰较ZnAl涂层有所增强。考察各涂层的摩擦磨损性能、电化学性能和耐中性盐雾性能后发现,相较于Ni Al和Zn Al涂层,Zn-Al-Ni-Cu复合涂层的摩擦因数更小,耐海水和耐盐雾腐蚀性能更优异。 展开更多
