This analysis evaluates the efficacy of tamanu oil in acne treatment with a specific focus on its impact on inflammation and scar reduction. The novelty of this research lies in its comprehensive analysis of tamanu oil’s dual mechanism of action: reducing acne-related inflammation and promoting the healing of acne scars. Clinical trials and laboratory analyses were conducted to assess the oil’s effectiveness in diminishing erythema, swelling, and post-acne scarring compared to conventional treatments. Preliminary findings demonstrate that tamanu oil significantly reduces inflammation and accelerates wound healing, potentially offering a promising adjunct or alternative to standard acne therapies. Future research should aim to optimize formulation and application protocols, long-term effects, and comparative therapeutic efficacy with other anti-inflammatory agents. In addition, ultrasonic method and scanning electron microscope analysis were used to explain the microstructure mechanism. The results show that polypropylene fiberreinforced concrete presents a better performance on crack resistance than ordinary concrete, and the synergism of EVA and polypropylene fiber can improve the anti-cracking ability of concrete further.展开更多

The anti-tarnish property is one of the most important properties of this material. In this work, the effect of yttrium on the corrosion resistance, and tarnish resistance properties of sterling silver alloy were investigated with the use of CIE-LAB uniform color scale, which gained acceptance as an effective way to assess color. To better understand the mechanism of the effect, the distribution of yttrium in the alloy was analyzed by mainly segregating in gaps among dendrite crystals and grain boundary. An increase in yttrium content in sterling silver alloy resulted in a decrease in the amount of eutectic structure. The tarnish and corrosion resistance of sterling silver were improved with yttrium content increase. However, too high yttrium content will lead to poor anti-tarnish properties.展开更多

The experiments were carried out by two cooling methods, ...A method was proposed to improve the anti-rust property of hot rolled rebar, which uses oil–water emulsion cooling instead of water cooling after hot rolling. The experiments were carried out by two cooling methods, one cooled by water, the other cooled by oil–water emulsion. The results of wet/dry cyclic accelerated corrosion test showed that the anti-rust property of rebar cooled by oil–water emulsion was better than that by water obviously. The results of OM, SEM and EPMA analysis indicated that these two scales contained three layers: an outer Fe_3O_4 layer, an intermediate Fe O layer with island-shaped pro-eutectoid Fe_3O_4, an inner eutectoid Fe_3O_4 layer. For the water cooled rebar, all three layers of oxide scale were relatively thin. Moreover, the scale had plenty of defects such as porosity, and crack. However, for the oil–water emulsion cooled rebar, all three layers of oxide scale were relatively thick and compact, which played an important role in protecting the rebar from atmospheric rust.展开更多
Objective:To study physicochemical properties,antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of coumarin-carbonodithioate hybrids.Methods:The substituted 4-bromomethyl coumarins were synthesized in first step by the cyc...Objective:To study physicochemical properties,antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of coumarin-carbonodithioate hybrids.Methods:The substituted 4-bromomethyl coumarins were synthesized in first step by the cyclization.Then the reaction of substituted coumarins(a-e)with potassium O-ethyl/methyl carbonodithioate(1)by using absolute ethanol as solvent,afforded coumarin-carbonodithioate(1a-1j)derivatives under microwave irradiation and the conventional method.The spectroscopic analysis was used for the characterization of coumarin derivatives.The title(1a-1j)compounds were confirmed by spectroscopic methods.Antioxidant property was evaluated by using DPPH free radical-scavenging ability assay method and anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated by protein denaturation procedure using diclofenac sodium as a standard.Drug-likeness.In-silico toxicity was predicted with LD_(50)value and bioactivity score was also calculated for all the compounds.Results:All coumarin(1a-1j)compounds exhibited promisingin-vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties in comparison to standard drugs.All tested compounds were used for evaluating their physicochemical properties as set by Lipinski rule.It was observed that the synthesized compounds followed rule of five,indicating more'drug-like'nature.Conclusions:All the screened coumarin-carbonodithioates display promising in vitro antioxidant and antiinflammatory activities.From the physicochemical properties of coumarin derivatives,it is found that none of the compounds violate the Lipinski rule and they fall well in the range of rule of five.It is concluded that the coumarin-carbonodithioate hybrids act with more'drug-like'nature.展开更多

With a modified Universal Testing Machine, the stripping resistance of friction spun core yarn can be continuously measured. Some factors Influencing the measurements are discussed in detail. In 2002, cirrhosis accounted for 27.63% of hepatobiliary diseases in Burkina Faso. In Africa and more particularly in Burkina Faso, the majority of the population (about 80%) uses medicinal plants for their primary health care. Calotropis procera (Ait.) R.Br (Apocynaceae) is a medicinal plant used in Burkina Faso in the treatment of liver problems. This work aims to evaluate the anti-fibrotic properties of Calotropis procera roots barks. Methods: The anti-fibrotic activity of the ethanolic extract of Calotropis procera roots barks was evaluated using diethylnitrosamine (DEN) to induce liver fibrosis in male Wistar rats. Serum biomarkers, alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), Total protein, Albumin, Υ-Glutamyl transferase (GGT) were evaluated and the activities of antioxidant enzymes (Superoxide dismutase and catalase) as well as the level of malonedialdehyde (MDA) and that of nitric oxide (NO) were determined in the liver homogenate. Results: The treatment of rats suffering from hepatic fibrosis with the ethanolic extract leads to a significant restoration of the biomarkers of the hepatic function in particular, AST, ALP, GGT, Albumin. The extract also causes a reduction in oxidative stress in the liver through a significant increase in the activity rate of the antioxidant enzymes Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase accompanied by a significant drop in the rate of MDA and NO suggesting the anti-oxidant effect of extract. Conclusion: The results of the study show that the ethanolic extract of the roots barks of Calotropis procera has anti-fibrotic properties.展开更多
