Corrosion behaviors of steel in different solutions were studied by means of corrosion potential (Ecorr), linear polarization resistance (LPR), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and potentiodynamic polarization (PDP). A field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) equipped with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXA) was used for observing the microstructures and morphology of corrosion products of steel. Three types of corrosion inhibitors, calcium nitrite (Ca(NO2)2), zinc oxide (ZnO), and N,N'-dimethylaminoethanol (DMEA), which respectively represented the anodic inhibitor, cathodic inhibitor, and mixed inhibitor, were chosen. Morphological analysis was performed on the uninhibited and inhibited C-steel using atomic force microscope(AFM) and Infrared Spectroscopy(ATR-IR) methods. The effect of temperature was studied and discussed. Inspection of experimental results revealed that the inhibition efficiency(IE) increases with the incremental addition of inhibitors and with elevating the temperature of the acid media. The adsorption of furanylnicotinamidine derivatives on C-steel follows Temkin’s isotherm. PP studies indicated that the investigated compounds act as mixed-type inhibitors and showed that p-dimethylaminophenyl furanylnicotinamidine derivative(MA-1256) was the most efficient inhibitor among the other studied derivatives with IE reached(95%)at 21 × 10-6 mol·L-1. MA-1266 is highly soluble in aqueous solution and has non-toxicity profile with LC50 N 37 mg·L-1. The experiments were coupled with computational chemical theories such as quantum chemical and molecular dynamic methods. The experimental results were in good agreement with the computational outputs.展开更多

The reinforced cement mortars were exposed to both partial and full immersion in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution. Electrochemical measurements such as half-cell potential and linear polarization technique, as well as weight loss of the embedded rebars were performed in order to obtain information on the corrosion behaviour of the reinforcing steel in cement mortar. Results demonstrate that the amino alcohol corrosion inhibitors offer protection against rebar corrosion in cement mortars.展开更多

It indicates that the corrosion rate of copper nickel is decreased when LiOH or Na 2MoO 4 is added to the solution individually. LiOH concentration has a double effect on the corrosion behavior of copper nickel. Low concentration is benefit to forming oxide film. High concentration results in dissolution of oxide film. The optimal concentration of LiOH is 0.15?mol/L. The dissolution of copper nickel is effectively prevented when adding 200?mg/L Na 2MoO 4 to boiling 65% LiBr solution with 0.15?mol/L LiOH. The inhibition mechanism is considered that the films of Cu, Ni, Mo oxides and deposited nonprotective in soluble CuBr on the surface of metal could prevent Br - ion from absorption, which prevent alloy dissolving.展开更多

Over the last 50 years, a tremendous effort has been spent by the international scientific community with laboratory research and experimental field studies in order to increase the resistance of concrete over corrosion. This paper presents an experimental study of the corrosion behavior of 5 different concrete mix designs. The compositions were developed as per the latest concrete regulations and International Standards which are as follows: conventional concrete C30/37, conventional concrete with corrosion inhibitor as an additive, conventional concrete with surface spray sealant, fine aggregate concrete and self-compacting concrete. Their behavior against corrosion was determined via the following tests: water absorption test, water permeability test, mercury intrusion porosimetry, rapid chloride penetration test (RCPT), and accelerated carbonation test. The experimental results showed that the corrosion systems examined in the study provide anti-corrosion protection on steel rebars against corrosion comparing with the reference group. Also, an inversely proportional relationship of the water/cement ratio of a composition with its corrosion behavior was observed. Smaller w/c values (0.4 instead of 0.5) lead to better anti-corrosion resistance. In addition, an analogous relationship between the cement content of a composition and its corrosion behavior was observed.展开更多

Thus, MA-1266 can be a promising green corrosion inhibitor candidate with IE N 91% at 21× 10-6 mol·L-1. The experiments were coupled with computational chemical theories such as quantum chemical and molecular dynamic methods. The experimental results were in good agreement with the computational outputs.
文摘The objective of this paper is to investigate the behaviour of amino alcohol corrosion inhibitors when they are used in reinforced cement mortars either as admixtures in the cement paste or as coating applications on the surface of the rebars. Results demonstrate that the amino alcohol corrosion inhibitors offer protection against rebar corrosion in cement mortars.
文摘This paper examines the use of corrosion inhibitors in order to protect the reinforcement of concrete. For this purpose mortar specimens were constructed with or without corrosion inhibitors and were partially immersed in sodium chloride. Corrosion inhibitors were used as admixture into concrete and were sprayed on the external surface of mortar specimens. In all mortar specimens, electric junction between reinforcements was achieved. The methods that were used for the evaluation of the reinforcement corrosion in concrete, included half-cell potential measurements, polarization curves of reinforced rebars and mass loss of the reinforcement. Finally, the durability of concrete after the use of corrosion inhibitors was also examined.

文摘Four protic ionic liquids(ILs)were synthesized via a one-step method by using benzotriazole(BTA)and benzimidazole as cations, and benzenesulfonic acid and 2-naphthalenesulfonic acid(NSA)as anions. These ILs were used as green corrosion inhibitors for brass specimens in a nitric acid solution. The structure of the protic ILs was characterized by 1H-NMR,13C-NMR,and FT-IR spectroscopy. The effects of the IL structure,IL concentration, acid concentration, and corrosion time on the surface morphology of brass specimens and the inhibition efficiency(η%)of ILs were investigated by the weight loss method combined with SEM and EDS spectroscopy.Polarization curves and impedance spectroscopy were used to analyze the electrochemical corrosion inhibition mechanism of ILs.Results showed that IL synthesis was a proton transfer process, and the proton of the–SO3H group on NSA was deprived by BTA.IL[BTA][NSA],which had a high charge density and large conjugateπband, was the most effective inhibitor for brass corrosion.Theη%of[BTA][NSA]decreased with the increase in acid concentration and corrosion time, which showed an increment with the increase in[BTA][NSA]concentration. The higher theη%of[BTA][NSA]is,the smoother the surface of the brass specimens is,and the smaller the undistributed area of Cu element will be.Corrosion inhibiting mechanism from electrochemical analysis indicated that the addition of[BTA][NSA]increased the polarization resistance of the brass electrode significantly and suppressed both anodic and cathodic reactions.

文摘The inhibition ability of 4-amino-5-phenyl-4H-1, 2, 4-trizole-3-thiol (APTT), ethylenediaminetetra-acetic acid (EDTA) and thiourea (TU) for mild steel corrosion in 1.0 mol/L HCl solution at 30 ℃ was investigated. Tafel polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used to investigate the influence of these organic compounds as corrosion inhibitors of mild steel in 1.0 mol/L HCl solution at 30 ℃. The inhibition mechanism was discussed in terms of Langmuir isotherm model. Results obtained from Tafel polarization and impedance measurements are in a good agreement. The inhibition efficiency increases with the increase of the inhibitor concentration. The adsorption of the inhibitors on the mild steel surface follows Langmuir adsorption isotherm and the free energy of adsorption △Gads indicates that the adsorption of APTT, EDTA, and TU molecules is a spontaneous process and a typical chemisorption.
文摘The conventional mass loss tests and the electrochemical techniques were used to study the inhibition action of LiOH and Na 2MoO 4 either individually or in different combination for copper nickel alloy in boiling 65% LiBr solution. The inhibition mechanism is considered that the films of Cu, Ni, Mo oxides and deposited nonprotective in soluble CuBr on the surface of metal could prevent Br - ion from absorption, which prevent alloy dissolving.

文摘The 2,5-bis(ethyldisulfanyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole(T561), benzotriazole(BTA), 1-N, N-bis(2-ethylhexyl) aminomethyl-4-methyl-1h-benzotriazole(IRGAMET39) and 1-[N, N-bis(2-ethylhexyl) aminomethyl] methyl benzotriazole(TTLX) have been evaluated as corrosion inhibitors used in rolling oil for cold rolling of copper foil. The MRS-10A four-ball friction and wear tests have been carried out to compare their tribological properties, and the lubricating performance of rolling oils has been studied through rolling experiments. The oil sample containing IRGAMET 39 has the same PB value as that one containing T561, with the coefficient of friction increased by 35.6% and wear scar diameter decreased by 4%. The minimum rolling gauge has been studied after rolling lubrication, but the results show that inhibitors have no effect on it. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS) analyses have indicated that the inhibitor is adsorbed on the copper surface to prevent copper from being corroded easily. In addition, the LEXT OLS4000 laser confocal microscopy has been used to observe the foil surface which shows that the streaks of foil surface are clear, the scratches are shallow and the surface failure is improved effectively.
文摘Corrosion inhibition of Al and Al-3.5Mg alloy by organic compounds, namely chalcones in hydrochloric acid solutions has been investigated by rapid polarization technique and weight loss method. Polarization measurements show that, the inhibitors act cathodically both in case of Al and Al-3.5Mg alloy. It was found from the weight loss measurements that, the inhibition efficiency depends on the substituent in the chalcone compound. The relative inhibitive efficiency of these compounds has been explained on the basis of structure dependent electron donor properties of the inhibitors and the metal inhibitor interaction on the surface. The inhibition efficiency ranges from 16 to 64% for Al and from 30% to 91% for Al-3.5Mg alloy

文摘The deterioration of concrete over time is the result of various mechanical, physical, chemical and biological processes, with the corrosion of reinforcement being the most serious problem of durability of reinforced concrete structures. In addition, an analogous relationship between the cement content of a composition and its corrosion behavior was observed.
