Separable Symmetric Tensors and Separable Anti-symmetric Tensors

In this paper,we first initialize the S-product of tensors to unify the outer product,contractive product,and the inner product of tensors.Then,we introduce the separable symmetry tensors and separable anti-symmetry tensors,which are defined,respectively,as the sum and the algebraic sum of rank-one tensors generated by the tensor product of some vectors.We offer a class of tensors to achieve the upper bound for rank(A)≤6 for all tensors of size 3×3×3.We also show that each 3×3×3 anti-symmetric tensor is separable.

Acoustic band pinning in the phononic crystal plates of anti-symmetric structure

Acoustic bands are studied numerically for a Lamb wave propagating in an anti-symmetric structure of a one- dimensional periodic plate by using the method of supercell plane-wave expansion. The results show that all the bands are pinned in pairs at the Brillouin zone boundary as long as the anti-symmetry remains and acoustic band gaps （ABGs） only appear between certain bands. In order to reveal the relationship between the band pinning and the anti-symmetry, the method of eigenmode analysis is introduced to calculate the displacement fields of different plate structures. Further, the method of harmony response analysis is employed to calculate the reference spectra to verify the accuracy of numerical calculations of acoustic band map, and both the locations and widths of ABGs in the acoustic band map are in good agreement with those of the reference spectra. The investigations show that the pinning effect is very sensitive to the anti-symmetry of periodic plates, and by introducing different types of breakages, more ABGs or narrow pass bands will appear, which is meaningful in band gap engineering.

A UNIFIED APPROACH FOR DEALING WITH THE EM SCATTERING FROM SYMMETRIC AND ANTI-SYMMETRIC STRUCTURES

It is of both the theoretical and practical importance to reduce the storage andCPU time of moment methods by utilizing the geometrical and physical features of the scatterer.An unified approach based on the group theory is presented to deal with the EM scattering fromsymmetric and anti-symmetric structures.

Least-square Solutions of Inverse Problems for Anti-symmetric and Skew-symmetric Matrices

The least-square solutions of inverse problem for anti-symmetric and skew-symmetric matrices are studied. In addition, the problem of using anti-symmetric and skew-symmetric matrices to construct the optimal approximation to a given matrix is discussed, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the problem are derived, and the expression of the solution is provided. A numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

MINIMIZATION PROBLEM FOR SYMMETRIC ORTHOGONAL ANTI-SYMMETRIC MATRICES

By applying the generalized singular value decomposition and the canonical correlation decomposition simultaneously, we derive an analytical expression of the optimal approximate solution ^-X, which is both a least-squares symmetric orthogonal anti-symmetric solu- tion of the matrix equation A^TXA = B and a best approximation to a given matrix X^＊. Moreover, a numerical algorithm for finding this optimal approximate solution is described in detail, and a numerical example is presented to show the validity of our algorithm.

Numerical investigation of unsteady mixing mechanism in plate film cooling

A large-scale large eddy simulation in high performance personal computer clusters is carried out to present unsteady mixing mechanism of film cooling and the development of films. Simulation cases include a single-hole plate with the inclined angle of 30° and blowing ratio of 0.5, and a single-row plate with hole-spacing of 1.5D and 2D （diameters of the hole）. According to the massive simulation results, some new unsteady phenomena of gas films are found. The vortex system is changed in different position with the development of film cooling with the time marching the process of a single-row plate film cooling. Due to the mutual interference effects including mutual exclusion, a certain periodic sloshing and mutual fusion, and the structures of a variety of vortices change between parallel gas films. Macroscopic flow structures and heat transfer behaviors are obtained based on 20 million grids and Reynolds number of 28600.

The Cartesian analytical solutions for the Ndimensional compressible Navier-Stokes equations with density-dependent viscosity

In this paper,we prove the existence of general Cartesian vector solutions u=b(t)+A(t)x for the Ndimensional compressible Navier–Stokes equations with density-dependent viscosity,based on the matrix and curve integration theory.Two exact solutions are obtained by solving the reduced systems.
