The Strategy of Application Integration in Implementing PDM

Combining with real project three levels of application integration in implementing PDM are introduced in this paper. Based on the research on the integration ability between major PDM systems and CAD systems, this paper discusses the strategy of realizing the application integration in three levels.

ENTERPRISE INTEGRATION PLATFORM BASED ON SERVICEORIENTED ARCHITECTURE

To achieve information integration, process integration and application integration of enterprise, an enterprise integration platform （EIP） based on service-oriented architecture （SOA） is built. The enterprise integration model depending on encapsulating the business processes as well as the enterprise applications by the neutral and standard web services is presented. The problem how to discover the existed enterprise resources and share them was resolved depending on the mechanism of publishing and discovering the services. The EIP is integrated closely with product lifecycle management （PLM） system so that the process integration as well as orchestration of the business process services is implemented by encapsulating the workflow engine of PLM system. Not only process integration and application integration, but also information integration based on the bill of material （BOM） conversion driven by process are achieved. Finally, an interpretive, qualitative case study on EIP is conducted for this research.

A High Efficiency Hardware Implementation of S-Boxes Based on Composite Field for Advanced Encryption Standard

The SubBytes (S-box) transformation is the most crucial operation in the AES algorithm, significantly impacting the implementation performance of AES chips. To design a high-performance S-box, a segmented optimization implementation of the S-box is proposed based on the composite field inverse operation in this paper. This proposed S-box implementation is modeled using Verilog language and synthesized using Design Complier software under the premise of ensuring the correctness of the simulation result. The synthesis results show that, compared to several current S-box implementation schemes, the proposed implementation of the S-box significantly reduces the area overhead and critical path delay, then gets higher hardware efficiency. This provides strong support for realizing efficient and compact S-box ASIC designs.

Towards a Smallest Scale of Context in Ontology Integration

In order to solve the ambiguity problems in the semantic context （structure, granularity or scale） emerging in the process of ontology integration application, this paper analyzes the essential characters of context structure, proposes a novel semantic context generating algorithm, which is implemented over VO-Editor（visual ontology editor）, from the satisfiability-based point of view, and proves that the context entity generated by this algorithm is smallest in scale and unique. It offers a feasible means for developers to handle context problems for ontology integration application.

FIXED POINT INDEXES AND ITS APPLICATIONS TO NONLINEAR INTEGRAL EQUATIONS MODELLING INFECTIOUS DISEASES

In this paper the fixed point index problem for a class of positive operators with boundary control conditions is discussed,and some sufficient conditions for the fixed pointindex to be equal to1 or 0 are given.Moreover,a general fixed point theorem of expansions and compressions for cone is obtained,which generalizes and improves the corresponding results of[3,8,9].As an application,we utilize the results presented above to study the existence conditions of positive solutions of nonlinear integral equations modelling infectious diseases.

THE CAUCHY TYPE INTEGRAL FOR M-ANALYTIC FUNCTION AND ITS APPLICATION

In this paper, the Cauchy type integral for M-analytic function is investigated which is by definition the regular solution of the elliptic system f_x+Mf_y=0, where M is a constant m×m matrix without any real eigenvalues and f is an m×q matrix.

Application of FPGA in Process Tomography Systems

This paper will provide some insights on the application of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) in process tomography. The focus of this paper will be to investigate the performance of the technology with respect to various tomography systems and comparison to other similar technologies including the Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC), Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and the microcontroller. Fundamentally, the FPGA is primarily used in the Data Acquisition System (DAQ) due to its better performance and better trade-off as compared to competitor technologies. However, the drawback of using FPGA is that it is relatively more expensive.

Application of Homemade DCS in Integrated BOP Control of 600-MW Supercritical Unit

The PLC and upper computer are used in BOP control system of traditional thermal power plant to monitor the in-situ equipment. It is complicated and wastes labor and resources. It is difficult to maintain and manage them. Beijing GuoDian ZhiShen Control Technology applied the homemade DCS (EDPF-NT System) to the integrated BOP control system of 600-MW supercritical power unit, which offers advantages in efficiency promotion, cost reduction and resource sharing. That also reflects the dominance of EDPF-NT System in performance, price, real-time DUP, network compatibility and communication. This article introduces the main characteristics, structure and configuration of EDPF-NT System, as well as the hierarchical operation, the multi-domain network structure and the private network router developed for Zhuanghe Power Plant.

Research on metadata in manufacturing-oriented EAI

Enterprise application integration （EAI） focuses on the collaboration and interconnection of various information systems, so the basic problem to be solved is how EAI guarantees that the applications will produce consistent presentation of data, message and transaction. The metadata methodology may give us certain good ideas. First, the metadata description method of manufacturing information resource, transaction process and message delivery is put forward on the basis of operation analysis of manufacturing-oriented EAI, and then the tree-structured XML schema of corresponding object is built and a framework of metadata application in the discrete Manufacturing-Oriented EAI is established. Finally, a practical enterprise information integration system in Shanghai Tobacco Machine Co., Ltd. is presented as an example to show how it functions.

Computational Analysis of Performance for Heterogeneous Integrated System with Test Automation

Heterogeneity is inevitable in enterprises due to their various input requirements. The usage of proprietary integration products results in the increased cost of enterprises. During the integration, the focus area has been found to often address only the functional requirements, while the non-functional requirements are side-stepped during the initial stages of a project. Moreover, the use of proprietary integration products and non-standards-based integration platform has given rise to an inflexible integration infrastructure resulting in adaptability concerns. Web services-based integration, based on open standards, is deemed to be the only feasible solution in such cases. This paper explains the performance analysis of enterprise integration in heterogeneous environments for the distributed and the transactional applications. The analysis presented in this paper is seen as a step towards making intelligent decisions well in advance when choosing the integration mechanism/products to address the functional as well as the non-functional requirements considering the future integration needs.

CORBA Based CIMS Application Integration

Common object request broker architecture (CORBA) provides the framework and the mechanism for distributed object operation. It can also be applied to computer integrated manufacturing system (CIMS) application integration. This paper studies the CIMS information service requirement, presents a CORBA based integration approach including the CORBA based CIM information system architecture and the application integration mechanism, and discusses the relationship between CORBA and the CIM application integration platform.

ASIC Design of Floating-Point FFT Processor

An application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) design of a 1024 points floating-point fast Fourier transform(FFT) processor is presented. It can satisfy the requirement of high accuracy FFT result in related fields. Several novel design techniques for floating-point adder and multiplier are introduced in detail to enhance the speed of the system. At the same time, the power consumption is decreased. The hardware area is effectively reduced as an improved butterfly processor is developed. There is a substantial increase in the performance of the design since a pipelined architecture is adopted, and very large scale integrated (VLSI) is easy to realize due to the regularity. A result of validation using field programmable gate array (FPGA) is shown at the end. When the system clock is set to 50 MHz, 204.8 μs is needed to complete the operation of FFT computation.

Information &Communication Technology(ICT) Adoption in Nigerian Ports Terminal Operations

Most ports around the globe have adopted ICT in a bid to improve their operational performance and remain competitive in the industry. However, ports in developing economies still grapple with challenges associated with manual terminal operation. This paper evaluated the level of application and integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and factors limiting their use in terminal operations in Nigerian seaports. The data for the study were obtained from copies of structured Likert scaled questionnaire administered to a random sample of terminal operators, stevedores, shipping companies’ agents, Customs licensed Clearing and Forwarding agents (C&F) operating in Apapa and Tincan Island ports in Nigeria. Specifically, opinion of these respondents was sought on extent of ICT application, integration and perceived constraints to ICT use in port terminal operations. Based on our findings using statistical model tests of proportion, the respondents stated that significant level of ICT procedures and processes have been adopted in port terminal operations. In terms of ICT applications, we found that electronic data and communication exchange applications were available in the terminals for use by the respondents. There are also in place ICT applications for warehouses and storage facilities management and e-payment systems. However, significant constraining factors were found to be: low ICT investment budgetary allocation, lack of e-skilled manpower and poor equipment maintenance culture. Other limiting factors were lack of integrated ICT facilities operated by other port stakeholders and absence of Port Community Systems network (PCS) linking all other relevant interests connected to terminal operations. Policy implications of our findings were discussed.

Numerical quadrature for singular and near-singular integrals of boundary element method and its applications in large-scale acoustic problems

The numerical quadrature methods for dealing with the problems of singular and near-singular integrals caused by Burton-Miller method are proposed, by which the conventional and fast multipole BEMs （boundary element methods） for 3D acoustic problems based on constant elements are improved. To solve the problem of singular integrals, a Hadamard finite-part integral method is presented, which is a simplified combination of the methods proposed by Kirkup and Wolf. The problem of near-singular integrals is overcome by the simple method of polar transformation and the more complex method of PART （Projection and Angular ＆ Radial Transformation）. The effectiveness of these methods for solving the singular and near-singular problems is validated through comparing with the results computed by the analytical method and/or the commercial software LMS Virtual.Lab. In addition, the influence of the near-singular integral problem on the computational precisions is analyzed by computing the errors relative to the exact solution. The computational complexities of the conventional and fast multipole BEM are analyzed and compared through numerical computations. A large-scale acoustic scattering problem, whose degree of freedoms is about 340,000, is implemented successfully. The results show that, the near singularity is primarily introduced by the hyper-singular kernel, and has great influences on the precision of the solution. The precision of fast multipole BEM is the same as conventional BEM, but the computational complexities are much lower.

High-sensitivity integrated devices based on surface plasmon resonance for sensing applications

A metallic nanostructured array that scatters radiation toward a thin metallic layer generates surface plasmon resonances for normally incident light. The location of the minimum of the spectral reflectivity serves to detect changes in the index of refraction of the medium under analysis. The normal incidence operation eases its integration with optical fibers. The geometry of the arrangement and the material selection are changed to optimize some performance parameters as sensitivity, figure of merit, field enhancement, and spectral width. This optimization takes into account the feasibility of the fabrication. The evaluated results of sensitivity(1020 nm/RIU)and figure of merit(614 RIU^(-1)) are competitive with those previously reported.

On the application of wavelet transform to the solution of integral equations for acoustic radiation and scattering

The application of wavelets is explored to solve acoustic radiation and scattering problems. A new wavelet approach is presented for solving two-dimensional and axisymmetric acoustic problems. It is different from the previous methods in which Galerkin formulation or wavelet matrix transform approach is used. The boundary quantities are expended in terms of a basis of the periodic, orthogonal wavelets on the interval. Using wavelet transform leads a highly sparse matrix system. It can avoid an additional integration in Galerkin formulation, which may be very computationally expensive. The techniques of the singular integrals in two-dimensional and axisymmetric wavelet formulation are proposed. The new method can solve the boundary value problems with Dirichlet, Neumann and mixed conditions and treat axisymmetric bodies with arbitrary boundary conditions. It can be suitable for the solution at large wave numbers. A series of numerical examples are given. The comparisons of the results from new approach with those from boundary element method and analytical solutions demonstrate that the new techique has a fast convergence and high accuracy.

THE APPLICATION OF INTEGRAL EQUATIONS TO THE NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF NONLINEAR SINGULAR PERTURBATION PROBLEMS

The nonlinear singular perturbation problem is solved numerically on nonequidistant meshes which are dense in the boundary layers. The method presented is based on the numerical solution of integral equations [1]. The fourth order uniform accuracy of the scheme is proved. A numerical experiment demonstrates the effectiveness of the method.

Modern Teaching Support Platform Design

A modern teaching support platform was designed based on application integration and the Nolan model. The system design used top-level design, information-sharing, management modeling, and user experience. The system emphasized openness, compatibility, security, extensibility, and practicability. Multi-department management is realized by dividing function domains. Intercommunications and intercon-nections use a level-division modular design, so the system can be easily extended. The teaching support platform is people oriented with people foremost environment for the users, the associated application environment, the integrated data environment, and the operating environment for high availability. The system plays an important role in university information construction.

Methodology for Web Services Adoption Based on Technology Adoption Theory and Business Process Analyses

Web services use an emerging service-oriented architecture for distributed computing. Many organizations are either in the process of adopting web services technology or evaluating this option for incorporation into their enterprise information architectures. Implementation of this new technology requires careful assessment of the needs and capabilities of an organization to formulate adoption strategies. This paper presents a methodology for web services adoption based on technology adoption theory and business process analyses. The methodology suggests that strategies, business areas, and functions within an organization should be considered based on the existing organizational information technology status during the process of adopting web services to support the business needs and requirements.
