These include behavioral addictions, which have long been overlooked despite their similar neural bases with su... One in five Americans experience symptoms associated with at least one mental health disorder every year. These include behavioral addictions, which have long been overlooked despite their similar neural bases with substance addictions. Gambling addiction, a type of behavioral addiction, deserves particular attention given the significant negative effects, this addiction has on financial and interpersonal health. The purpose of this paper is to review the available literature concerning the behavioral and neural processes involved in gambling addiction, including: the anticipation of reward, the role of dopamine, and the neural substrates of the decision-making processes involved in gambling addiction. Market research has also identified solutions that integrate applied neuroscience and self-tracking systems to monitor and manage mental health issues associated with gambling addiction. The authors then propose a gambling treatment-focused mobile app solution that addresses outstanding issues with a special design aimed at reversing plasticity in order to relieve the effects of gambling addiction. . 展开更多

Applied linguistics is an interdisciplinary domain which identifies,investigates,and offers solutions to language-related real-life problems.The new coronavirus disease,otherwise known as Coronavirus disease(COVID-19),has severely affected the everyday life of people all over the world.Specifically,since there is insufficient access to vaccines and no straight or reliable treatment for coronavirus infection,the country has initiated the appropriate preventive measures(like lockdown,physical separation,and masking)for combating this extremely transmittable disease.So,individuals spent more time on online social media platforms(i.e.,Twitter,Facebook,Instagram,LinkedIn,and Reddit)and expressed their thoughts and feelings about coronavirus infection.Twitter has become one of the popular social media platforms and allows anyone to post tweets.This study proposes a sine cosine optimization with bidirectional gated recurrent unit-based senti-ment analysis(SCOBGRU-SA)on COVID-19 tweets.The SCOBGRU-SA technique aimed to detect and classify the various sentiments in Twitter data during the COVID-19 pandemic.The SCOBGRU-SA technique follows data pre-processing and the Fast-Text word embedding process to accomplish this.Moreover,the BGRU model is utilized to recognise and classify sen-timents present in the tweets.Furthermore,the SCO algorithm is exploited for tuning the BGRU method’s hyperparameter,which helps attain improved classification performance.The experimental validation of the SCOBGRU-SA technique takes place using a benchmark dataset,and the results signify its promising performance compared to other DL models. 展开更多

Adsorption characteristics of CO adsorbed on pristine 4,12,2-graphyne(4,12,2-G)and Fe-doped 4,12,2-graphyne(Fe-4,12,2-G)are studied by first-principles calculations.It is shown that CO is only physically adsorbed on pristine 4,12,2-G.Fe atoms can be doped into 4,12,2-G stably and lead to band gap opening.After doping,the interaction between Fe-4,12,2-G and CO is significantly enhanced and chemisorption occurs.The maximum adsorption energy reaches-1.606 e V.Meanwhile,the charge transfer between them increases from 0.009e to 0.196e.Moreover,the electric field can effectively regulate the adsorption ability of the Fe-4,12,2-G system,which is expected to achieve the capture and release of CO.Our study is helpful to promote applications of two-dimensional carbon materials in gas sensing and to provide new ideas for reversible CO sensor research. 展开更多

The term‘executed linguistics’corresponds to an interdisciplinary domain in which the solutions are identified and provided for real-time language-related problems.The exponential generation of text data on the Internet must be leveraged to gain knowledgeable insights.The extraction of meaningful insights from text data is crucial since it can provide value-added solutions for business organizations and end-users.The Automatic Text Summarization(ATS)process reduces the primary size of the text without losing any basic components of the data.The current study introduces an Applied Linguistics-based English Text Summarization using a Mixed Leader-Based Optimizer with Deep Learning(ALTS-MLODL)model.The presented ALTS-MLODL technique aims to summarize the text documents in the English language.To accomplish this objective,the proposed ALTS-MLODL technique pre-processes the input documents and primarily extracts a set of features.Next,the MLO algorithm is used for the effectual selection of the extracted features.For the text summarization process,the Cascaded Recurrent Neural Network(CRNN)model is exploited whereas the Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA)is used as a hyperparameter optimizer.The exploitation of the MLO-based feature selection and the WOA-based hyper-parameter tuning enhanced the summarization results.To validate the perfor-mance of the ALTS-MLODL technique,numerous simulation analyses were conducted.The experimental results signify the superiority of the proposed ALTS-MLODL technique over other approaches. 展开更多

Applied linguistics is one of the fields in the linguistics domain and deals with the practical applications of the language studies such as speech processing,language teaching,translation and speech therapy.The ever-growing Online Social Networks(OSNs)experience a vital issue to confront,i.e.,hate speech.Amongst the OSN-oriented security problems,the usage of offensive language is the most important threat that is prevalently found across the Internet.Based on the group targeted,the offensive language varies in terms of adult content,hate speech,racism,cyberbullying,abuse,trolling and profanity.Amongst these,hate speech is the most intimidating form of using offensive language in which the targeted groups or individuals are intimidated with the intent of creating harm,social chaos or violence.Machine Learning(ML)techniques have recently been applied to recognize hate speech-related content.The current research article introduces a Grasshopper Optimization with an Attentive Recurrent Network for Offensive Speech Detection(GOARN-OSD)model for social media.The GOARNOSD technique integrates the concepts of DL and metaheuristic algorithms for detecting hate speech.In the presented GOARN-OSD technique,the primary stage involves the data pre-processing and word embedding processes.Then,this study utilizes the Attentive Recurrent Network(ARN)model for hate speech recognition and classification.At last,the Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm(GOA)is exploited as a hyperparameter optimizer to boost the performance of the hate speech recognition process.To depict the promising performance of the proposed GOARN-OSD method,a widespread experimental analysis was conducted.The comparison study outcomes demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed GOARN-OSD model over other state-of-the-art approaches. 展开更多

The ultraviolet(UV) photoresponses of ZnO nanorods directly grown on and between two micro Au-electrodes by using electric-field-assisted wet chemical method are measured comprehensively under different conditions, including ambient environment, applied bias voltage, gate voltage and temperature. Experimental results indicate that the photoresponses of the ZnO nanorods can be modulated by surface oxygen adsorptions, applied voltages, as well as temperatures. A model taking into account both surface adsorbed oxygen and electron-hole activities inside ZnO nanorods is proposed. The enhancement effect of the bias voltage on photoresponse is also analyzed. Experimental results shows that the UV response time(to 63%) of ZnO nanorods in air and at 59°C could be shortened from 34.8 s to 0.24 s with a bias of 4 V applied between anode and cathode. 展开更多

The concept of core collection(CC) provides a new way of management and utilization of plant germplasm resources. In this study, an integrated applied core collection(IACC) of soybean was developed based on evaluation data for desirable agronomic and nutritional traits of available soybean germplasm resources including accessions with cold tolerance, drought tolerance, salt tolerance, soybean cyst nematode resistance, soybean mosaic virus resistance, high protein content, and high fat content. The newly formed collection encompasses accessions with high genetic diversity and desirable agronomic traits. The genetic diversity of the newly formed IACC was compared with that of the established mini core collection(MCC) of soybean with the aid of simple sequence repeat(SSR) markers and phenotypic traits. The results showed that at the molecular level, soybean IACC harbored a similar level of genetic diversity as the established MCC, and that at the phenotypic level the IACC encompasses more accessions with desirable traits than does the established MCC. The development of soybean IACC lays a foundation for breeding projects to meet different objectives in different eco-regions. 展开更多

The trajectory of tricritical point, reentrant transitions and degenerate patterns of anisotropy are obtained both for the bond and the anisotropy dilutions. The global phase diagrams demonstrate unusually reentrant phenomena. The temperature dependences of magnetization curves undergo remarkable spin glass behaviour at low temperatures, and transform from ferromagnetism to paramagnetism at high temperature in applied fields. Temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibility curve is in qualitative agreement with experimental result. 展开更多

Genetic diversity of 158 accessions of an applied core collection of adzuki bean (Vigna angularis) and 18 wild genotypes were assessed by using 85 microsatellite markers. With an average of 5.81 alleles per locus, 493 alleles were detected, and their distribution frequencies lower than 5% accounted for 73.02% of the total number. The distributions of alleles between the cultivated and the wild adzuki bean germplasm are different, with a higher allelic diversity in the wild germplasm than that of the cultivated ones. An obvious genetic differentiation was also observed between the wild and the cultivated adzuki beans, and SSR markers may be useful in study identification and classification of them. Among cultivated adzuki bean, the genetic similarity coefficient varied from 0.366 to 0.939. Genetic structure analysis can clearly separate the wild genotypes from the cultivated adzuki bean, and also can divide the cultivated ones into different populations, as these populations are closely agreeable with the ecological regions where they originally grow. The results of this study will be useful in arranging local breeding programs, especially in the aspect of parental combinations or identification of progenies. These SSR markers can also provide important information to explain the genetic relationship between the cultivated and wild adzuki beans, and to accelerate the wild gene resources in broadening the gene pool in breeding program. 展开更多

Intact rock-like specimens and specimens that include a single, smooth planar joint at various angles are prepared for split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB) testing. A buffer pad between the striker bar and the incident bar of an SHPB apparatus is used to absorb some of the shock energy. This can generate loading rates of 20.2-4627.3 GPa/s, enabling dynamic peak stresses/strengths and associated failure patterns of the specimens to be investigated. The effects of the loading rate and angle of load applied on the dynamic peak stresses/strengths of the specimens are examined. Relevant experimental results demonstrate that the failure pattern of each specimen can be classified as four types: Type A, integrated with or without tiny flake-off; Type B, slide failure; Type C, fracture failure; and Type D, crushing failure. The dynamic peak stresses/strengths of the specimens that have similar failure patterns increase linearly with the loading rate, yielding high correlations that are evident on semi-logarithmic plots. The slope of the failure envelope is the smallest for slide failure, followed by crushing failure, and that of fracture failure is the largest. The angle of application has a limited effect on the dynamic peak stresses/strengths of the specimens regardless of the failure pattern, but it affects the bounds of the loading rates that yield each failure pattern, and thus influences the dynamic responses of the single jointed specimen.
