Sandwich training improves academic success rates and school-to-work transition prospects, making it both a pathway to excellence and a gateway into employment by keeping a clear tack in the face of social-economic headwinds---especially for young graduates. The factors involved are primarily education-driven (academic success, best-in-class graduates, and etc.), but where sandwich training really floats is in the job market, by co-potentializing both school-to-work transition and employability. The Corsica-region University-sponsored Placements & Apprenticeships Service (CFA UNIV), as regional leader in post-secondary sandwich placement (65% of sandwich-placement students in Corsica), is therefore structurally engaged as a facilitator of the island-wide economy, providing business and industry with a pipeline of core skill sets while readying them to rise to tomorrow's economic and human resources (HR) challenges. This study ...While the basic model of learning masculinity is fathers, how, exactly, a fatherless boy learned masculity? How and where did the children growing up without traditional family structure learn to be men? This study examines a specific group of children – young apprentices in medeival England – in order to reconstruct how fatherless sons learned the concept of masculinity. To further the question – did the separation of their natal fathers during their youth made boys less masculine? By examining the indentures, court records and various administrative records, this study demonstrates that, apprentices went through more masculine relationships than the children grew up with their fathers’ prescence, because masters wielded he supreme power which made them de facto “surrogate fathers”. This study also manisfests that apprenticeship was the extension of fatherhood, because it led apprentices to experience absolute subordination to their masters, reducing them to the position of “full-dependence” in their social communities.展开更多

It traced the origin of "half-a-day" linking it with the ingenuity of the youths to make the formal education that they have acquired operational. It also discussed the traditional education with its apprenticeship system as being modified through the "half-a-day" syndrome. The study is historical and descriptive therefore, social survey method was employed using unscheduled interview and consulting relevant literature. It was discovered that, apart from the failure of the educational system due to lack of proper infrastructure, the youths, especially those from the lower class, have reasoned that the salaries from the white-collar jobs may not be enough to sustain them. It is, therefore, recommended, among others, that: Government can institutionalise the "half-a-day" as a form of summer school and certify both the centres of learning and learners.展开更多

The government makes efforts in promoting the modem apprenticeship and this is met with active response of the higher vocational institutions. However, in the practical situation of the higher vocational institutions, the implementation of modem apprenticeship is still faced with lots of problems. It is the author's opinion that the government and higher vocational institutions should overall integrate the planning for scientific and systematic designing of the implementation of modem apprenticeship to create an integrated environment for the enterprises to actively participate in the higher vocational education. The institutions and enterprises should join hands in the management of higher vocational education, strengthen the pilot institutionsand promote the apprenticeship to solve the problems in the implementation and enhance the development of the higher vocational education of China.展开更多
