Modern apprenticeship is a talent cultivation mode of deep integration between schools and enterprises,and an effective way for higher vocational colleges and universities to improve the quality of talent cultivation and realize professional service to society.Guangxi College for Preschool Education of Special Education College of Applied Behavior Analysis cooperates with Guangxi Youzhuan Special Children Care Service Center to coeducate rehabilitation teachers of autistic children using the modern apprenticeship mode,constructs school-enterprise synergistic cultivation mechanism,promotes the integration of enrollment and recruitment,improves the system and standard of talent cultivation,builds the faculty team that is mutually employed by the school and enterprise,establishes the guarantee for the management system of modern apprenticeship,and so on.The practice has been carried out with the initial experience gained.However,the construction of a long-term operation mechanism of the modern apprenticeship mode still requires consideration of the contradiction with the traditional cultivation mode and the construction of a perfect evaluation system. 展开更多

Long confined to early pre-tertiary school-leaver training and often synonymous with academic failure, sandwich training has experienced a remarkable turnaround, debunking common misconceptions and gaining ground in higher education. Sandwich training improves academic success rates and school-to-work transition prospects, making it both a pathway to excellence and a gateway into employment by keeping a clear tack in the face of social-economic headwinds---especially for young graduates. The factors involved are primarily education-driven (academic success, best-in-class graduates, and etc.), but where sandwich training really floats is in the job market, by co-potentializing both school-to-work transition and employability. The Corsica-region University-sponsored Placements & Apprenticeships Service (CFA UNIV), as regional leader in post-secondary sandwich placement (65% of sandwich-placement students in Corsica), is therefore structurally engaged as a facilitator of the island-wide economy, providing business and industry with a pipeline of core skill sets while readying them to rise to tomorrow's economic and human resources (HR) challenges. Masters as Fathers-The Experiences of Apprenticeship in Late Medieval England

While the basic model of learning masculinity is fathers, how, exactly, a fatherless boy learned masculity? How and where did the children growing up without traditional family structure learn to be men? This study examines a specific group of children – young apprentices in medeival England – in order to reconstruct how fatherless sons learned the concept of masculinity. To further the question – did the separation of their natal fathers during their youth made boys less masculine? By examining the indentures, court records and various administrative records, this study demonstrates that, apprentices went through more masculine relationships than the children grew up with their fathers’ prescence, because masters wielded he supreme power which made them de facto “surrogate fathers”. This study also manisfests that apprenticeship was the extension of fatherhood, because it led apprentices to experience absolute subordination to their masters, reducing them to the position of “full-dependence” in their social communities. 展开更多

"Half-a-Day" Syndrome: A Mode of Internalization of Vocational and Technical Education by the Youths in the 20th Century Nigeria

This research focused on "half-a-day" as a mode of internalizing vocational and technical education by the youths in Nigeria. It traced the origin of "half-a-day" linking it with the ingenuity of the youths to make the formal education that they have acquired operational. It also discussed the traditional education with its apprenticeship system as being modified through the "half-a-day" syndrome. The study is historical and descriptive therefore, social survey method was employed using unscheduled interview and consulting relevant literature. It was discovered that, apart from the failure of the educational system due to lack of proper infrastructure, the youths, especially those from the lower class, have reasoned that the salaries from the white-collar jobs may not be enough to sustain them. It is, therefore, recommended, among others, that: Government can institutionalise the "half-a-day" as a form of summer school and certify both the centres of learning and learners. 展开更多

The government makes efforts in promoting the modem apprenticeship and this is met with active response of the higher vocational institutions. However, in the practical situation of the higher vocational institutions, the implementation of modem apprenticeship is still faced with lots of problems. It is the author's opinion that the government and higher vocational institutions should overall integrate the planning for scientific and systematic designing of the implementation of modem apprenticeship to create an integrated environment for the enterprises to actively participate in the higher vocational education. The institutions and enterprises should join hands in the management of higher vocational education, strengthen the pilot institutionsand promote the apprenticeship to solve the problems in the implementation and enhance the development of the higher vocational education of China. 展开更多

The COVID-19 pandemic has generated major economic impacts in the vast majority of countries,including falling GDP and global trade,massive job losses,deficits and increased public debt.If quasi-generalized interventionist economic policies have made it possible to cushion the paralysis of the productive devices,the short-term global outlook remains very uncertain.In this gloomy context,what will be the situation on the labour market,and in particular the vocational integration of students?Corsica presents the example of a small island territory in search of a regional development scheme based on the economy of knowledge and competence.In this major structural perspective,the University Apprenticeship Training Centre(CFA UNIV)in the Corsican region has been striving,for a decade,to contribute to the enhancement of studentsapprentices vocational integration from the University of Corsica.Within the scope of its activities,are the monitoring and evaluation of the students-apprentices’professional integration from the University of Corsica.Since 2011,the carrying out the annual surveys on studentsapprentices’future from the University of Corsica has demonstrated the capacity of the sandwich course training in Higher Education simultaneously to boost the employability of skilled human capital and the growth of local business structuring.This contribution will aim to synthesize ten years of CFA UNIV experience and will endeavour to analyse the localized consequences of a global pandemic crisis on the nature of the vocational integration studentapprentices from the University of Corsica in a small territory island. 展开更多
