We conducted a joint inversion of receiver functions and surface wave dispersions with P-wave velocity constraints using data from the Chin Array Ⅱ temporary stations deployed across the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau. Prior to joint inversion, we applied the H-κ-c method(Li JT et al., 2019) to the receiver function data in order to correct for the back-azimuthal variations in the arrival times of Ps phases and crustal multiples caused by crustal anisotropy and dipping interfaces. High-resolution images of vS, crustal thickness, and vP/vSstructures in the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau were simultaneously derived from the joint inversion. The seismic images reveal that crustal thickness decreases outward from the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau. The stable interiors of the Ordos and Alxa blocks exhibited higher velocities and lower crustal vP/vSratios. While, lower velocities and higher vP/vSratios were observed beneath the Qilian Orogen and Songpan-Ganzi terrane(SPGZ), which are geologically active and mechanically weak, especially in the mid-lower crust.Delamination or thermal erosion of the lithosphere triggered by hot asthenospheric flow contributes to the observed uppermost mantle low-velocity zones(LVZs) in the SPGZ. The crustal thickness, vS, and vP/vSratios suggest that whole lithospheric shortening is a plausible mechanism for crustal thickening in the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, supporting the idea of coupled lithospheric-scale deformation in this region.展开更多

Particles have properties that uniquely characterize them from one another, such as mass, charge and spin. Charged particles have associated Electric and Magnetic fields. Also, every moving particle has a De Broglie wavelength determined by its mass and velocity. This paper shows that all of these properties of a particle can be derived from a single wave function equation for that particle. Wave functions for the Electron and the Positron are presented and principles are provided that can be used to calculate the wave functions of all the fundamental particles in Physics. Fundamental particles such as electrons and positrons are considered to be point particles in the Standard Model of Physics and are not considered to have a structure. This paper demonstrates that they do indeed have structure and that this structure extends into the space around the particle’s center (in fact, they have infinite extent), but with rapidly diminishing energy density with the distance from that center. The particles are formed from Electromagnetic standing waves, which are stable solutions to the Schrödinger and Classical wave equations. This stable structure therefore accounts for both the wave and particle nature of these particles. In fact, all of their properties such as mass, spin and electric charge, can be accounted for from this structure. These particle properties appear to originate from a single point at the center of the wave function structure, in the same sort of way that the Shell theorem of gravity causes the gravity of a body to appear to all originate from a central point. This paper represents the first two fully characterized fundamental particles, with a complete description of their structure and properties, built up from the underlying Electromagnetic waves that comprise these and all fundamental particles.展开更多

The marginal wave characteristic distribution and the joint density of wave properties have been calculated using the two transformations, with the results and accuracy of both transformations presented here. The two transformations deviate slightly between each other for the calculation of the crest and trough height marginal wave distributions, as well as the joint densities of wave amplitude with other wave properties. The transformation methods for the calculation of the wave crest and trough height distributions are shown to provide good agreement with real ocean data. Our work will help in the determination of the most appropriate transformation procedure for the prediction of extreme values.展开更多

Its applications are found in soil dynamics, seismology, earthquake engineering, rock mechanics, geophysics, and acoustics. However, the mathematical work for deriving it can be daunting. Green's functions have been presented utilizing an analogy between the dynamic thermoelasticity and the dynamic poroelasticity in the frequency domain using the u-p formulation. In this work, a special term "decoupling coefficient" for the decomposition of the fast and slow dilatational waves is proposed and expressed to present a new methodology for deriving the poroelastodynamic Green's functions. The correct- ness of the solution is demonstrated by numerically comparing the current solution with Cheng's previous solution. The separation of the two waves in the present methodology allows the more accurate evaluation of Green's functions, particularly the solution of the slow dilatational wave. This can be advantageous for the numerical implementation of the boundary element method (BEM) and other applications.展开更多

The novelty of the article is that it is possible to explain the nature of supersymmetry in terms of the geometric representation of the wave function and to propose a mechanism of spontaneous symmetry breaking of the excitation of the universe with different degrees of freedom. It is under such conditions that the well-known spontaneous symmetry breaking occurs and individual excitation acquires mass. At the same time, a phase transition of the first kind occurs with the formation of a new phase.展开更多

The used formalism particularly eliminates long existing confusion about the reasons behind the appearance of the imaginary unit in quantum mechanics and introduces clear definition of wave functions. When a wave function acts through the Hopf fibration on a localized geometric algebra element, that is executing a measurement, the result can be named as “collapse” of the wave function.展开更多

It is shown that the photon is neither a point particle nor an infinite wave but behaves rather like a local “wave-corpuscle” extended over a wavelength, occupying a minimum quantization volume and guided by a non-local vector potential real wave function. The quantized vector potential oscillates over a wavelength with circular left or right polarization giving birth to orthogonal magnetic and electric fields whose amplitudes are proportional to the square of the frequency. The energy and momentum are carried by the local wave-corpuscle guided by the non-local vector potential wave function suitably normalized.展开更多

Wavelet analyses are being used for solving problems in different engineering areas like audio de-noising, signal compression, object detection, image decomposition, speech recognition etc. Wavelet analysis employs orthonormal as well as non-orthonornal functions. This research investigates the effectiveness of wavelet analysis in detecting defects in underground steel pipe networks. Continuous Wavelet Transforms (CWT) has been performed on the received signals of cylindrical guided waves. Cylindrical Guided waves are generated and propagated through the pipe wall boundaries in a pitch-catch system. Piezo-electric transducers are used to generate as well as receive guided waves. Several mother wavelet functions such as Daubechies, Symlet, Coiflet and Meyer have been used for the Continuous Wavelet Transform to investigate the most suitable function for defect detection. This research also investigates the effect of surrounding soil on wavelet transforms for different mother wavelet functions.展开更多

For the purpose of solving this problem, we explored the possibility of deducing the fundamental equation of quantum mechanics by starting with the probability density. To do so, it is necessary to formulate a new theory of quantum mechanics distinguished from the previous ones. Our investigation shows that it is possible to construct quantum mechanics in phase space as an alternative autonomous formulation and such a possibility enables us to study quantum mechanics by starting with the probability density rather than the wave function. This direction of research is contrary to configuration-space formulation of quantum mechanics starting with the wave function. Our work leads to a full understanding of the wave function as the both mathematically and physically sufficient representation of quantum-mechanical state which supplements information on quantum state given solely by the probability density with phase information on quantum state. The final result of our work is that quantum mechanics in phase space satisfactorily elucidates the relation between the wave function and the probability density by using the consistent procedure starting with the probability density, thus corroborating the ontological interpretation of the wave function and withdrawing a main assumption of quantum mechanics.展开更多

At the same time, a phase transition of the first kind occurs with the formation of a new phase.
文摘The research considers wavelike objects that are elements of even subalgebra of geometric algebra in three dimensions. The used formalism particularly eliminates long existing confusion about the reasons behind the appearance of the imaginary unit in quantum mechanics and introduces clear definition of wave functions. When a wave function acts through the Hopf fibration on a localized geometric algebra element, that is executing a measurement, the result can be named as “collapse” of the wave function.
文摘A photon structure is advanced based on the experimental evidence and the vector potential quantization at a single photon level. The energy and momentum are carried by the local wave-corpuscle guided by the non-local vector potential wave function suitably normalized.
文摘Over the past decade, wavelets provided a powerful and flexible set of tools for handling fundamental problems in science and engineering. This research also investigates the effect of surrounding soil on wavelet transforms for different mother wavelet functions.
文摘The main problem of quantum mechanics is to elucidate why the probability density is the modulus square of wave function. The final result of our work is that quantum mechanics in phase space satisfactorily elucidates the relation between the wave function and the probability density by using the consistent procedure starting with the probability density, thus corroborating the ontological interpretation of the wave function and withdrawing a main assumption of quantum mechanics.

Some impor-tant conversion relations in circular, elliptic and parabolic cylindrical coordinate systems are discussedin detail, where the result in circular cylindrical coordinate system is the same as the one given bythe author (1984).

文摘The dynamic parameters for internal solitary waves(ISWs)derived from the extended Korteweg-de Vries(eKdV)equation play an important role in the understanding and prediction of ISWs.The spatiotemporal variations of the dynamic parameters of the ISWs in the northern South China Sea(SCS)were studied based on the reanalysis of long-term temperature and salinity datasets. The results for spectrum analysis show that there are definite geographical differences for the periodic variation of the parameters:in shallow water, all parameters vary with a wave period of one year, while in deep water wave components of the parameters at other frequencies exist.Using wavelet analysis, the wavelet power spectral densities in deep water exhibited an inter-annual variation pattern. For example, the wave component of the dispersion coefficient with a wave period of about half a year reached its power peak once every two years.Based on previous work, this inter-annual variation pattern was deduced to be caused by dynamic processes. In further work on the regulatory mechanisms, empirical orthogonal function(EOF)decomposition was performed. It was found that the modes of the dispersion coefficient have different geographical distributions, explaining the reason why the wave components in different frequencies appeared in different locations. The numerical simulation results confirm that the variations in the parameters of the ISWs derived from the eKdV equation could affect the waveforms significantly because of changes in the polarity of the ISWs.Therefore, the periodic variations of the dynamic parameters are related to the geographical location because of dynamic processes operating.

文摘We explore the theoretical possibility of extending the usual squeezed state to those produced by nonlinear singlemode squeezing operators. We derive the wave functions of exp[-(ig/2)((1-X2)1/2P + P(1-X2)1/2)]|0 in the coordinate representation. A new operator's disentangling formula is derived as a by-product.
文摘Time evaluation of wave functions for any quantum mechanical system/particle is essential nevertheless quantum mechanical counterpart of the time dependant classical wave equation does simply not appear. Epistemologically and ontologically considered time dependant momentum operator is initially defined and an Alternative Time Dependant Schrodinger Wave Equation (ATDSWE) is plainly derived. Consequent equation is primarily solved for the free particles, in a closed system, signifying a good agreement with the outcomes of the ordinary TDSWE. Free particle solution interestingly goes further possibly tracing some signs of new pathways to resolve the mysterious quantum world.
