Since ChatGPT emerged on November 30, 2022, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been increasingly discussed as a radical force that will change our world. People have become used to AI in which such ubiquitous technologies as Siri, Google, and Netflix deploy AI algorithms to answer questions, impart information, and provide recommendations. However, many individuals including originators and backers of AI have recently expressed grave concerns. In this paper, the authors will assess what is occurring with AI in Visual Arts Education, outline positives and negatives, and provide recommendations addressed specifically for teachers working in the field regarding emerging AI usage from kindergarten to grade twelve levels as well as in higher education. 展开更多

With the advent of the artificial intelligence(AI)era,there is a need to create a more flexible and humanistic educational ecosystem to adapt to the changes.Education needs to move from a unidirectional focus on skills to the cultivation of creative“whole people.”Due to the non-standardized evaluation system of the art discipline,its education has a unique advantage for the cultivation of students’creativity.At the same time,the interdisciplinary integration of fine arts points to the educational goals in the era of AI and the educational requirements for cultivating students’core qualities in China.Therefore,this paper analyzes the theoretical basis and developmental evolution of interdisciplinary integration,studies the significance of interdisciplinary integration in art education from the three levels of students,teaching,and disciplines,and explores four effective paths to realize interdisciplinary integration in art education in the era of AI.In this way,students can realize the contextualized analysis of knowledge,in-depth understanding of the content of the discipline,and accurate expression of the spiritual values embedded in art interdisciplinary learning.The ultimate goal is to cultivate students’ability to solve complex problems,promote the development of students’free personalities,and respond to the national education requirements. 展开更多

The study delves into the online teaching practice that uses "Rain Classroom" for the school-based curriculum of college English and explored whether such a teaching mode can arouse students’ interests in learning,and enhance their learning effect and satisfaction by means of a questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews to collect feedback from students of art or physical education majors on the effectiveness of Rain Classroom-based teaching for quantitative and qualitative analysis.The collected data indicates that this teaching mode was greatly accepted by these students,who showed strong interests in learning,but as they were not disciplined much in their studies,their learning effect was not significant.Therefore,this paper concluded therefore that we should integrate such smart teaching modes as Rain Classroom with traditional classroom teaching styles to tap the benefits of blended learning which features the combination of information technology(IT) with foreign language teaching. 展开更多

This article reviews preservice teacher arts education university course work with the goal of informing cross-cultural competencies for Indonesian teacher education.The authors are mid-career education faculty,who visited six universities in three countries to observe cross-cultural contents in teacher preparation courses.Cross-cultural competence relies on theories of globalization,intercultural and multicultural education.Using a case study method,the authors gathered data through relevant literature,course descriptions,met with stakeholders,wrote and coded reflective and reflexive field notes,and identified trends.These trends included the infusion of Eastern content into Western course work,and the role of Western arts forms in Eastern settings.These findings support the development of“cross-cultural communication through the arts”or“komunikasi silang budaya melalui seni”as a way of approaching cross-cultural teaching in Indonesia. 展开更多

Cultivating professional knowledge and developing specific inclusive training has always been important for educators in China.Within the context of special art education in China,art educators are supposed to adjust the instruction effectively for students with a variety of disabilities.This qualitative study sought to gain insight of the strategies of modifying and adapting art instruction for children with autism.Data were collected and analyzed by comparative method through interviews with three art educators.During the interview,three participants addressed strategies they use when working with autistic students in art classroom and proved the ways to modify and adapt art instruction to enhance autistic children’s pedagogical skills.Art teachers can also identify students’preferred art materials to engage autistic students in learning art.Beyond helping my educational practice,this study could further serve as an impetus to assist other educators in China thus expand teachers’professional knowledge in teaching children with special needs. 展开更多
