[ Objective] In order to construct the specific equine disease-free zone of of the Guangzhou Asian Games, to ensure that the equestrian events of Guangzhou Asian Games be smoothly held. [Methods] The species, quantities, distribution and seasonal variations of insects and wild animals in related zones were investigated from 2008 to 2010, and the collected samples of the insects and wild animals were tested in laboratory for related equine diseases. [Results] The investigations indicated that there were some mosquitoes, flies, horseflies, punkies, ticks, bats, wild birds and wild bears in equastrianism venue and peripheral regions of disease-free zone of the Guangzhou Asian Games, the laboratory results of Japa- nese encephalitis, vesicular stomatitis, Nipah virus disease, West Nile fever, and Trypanosomiasis evansi, were all negative. According to the in- vestigations and test results, the risk assessments of insect and wild animal vectors in the prevalence of related equine diseases were made to con- firm that the risk was relatively low or very low, and comprehensive prevention and control measures with prevention as major measures and insecti- cides application and environment managements as supplementary means were made on the basis of the risk assessment conclusions. [ Conclu- sions] This research has laid a solid foundation for the successful building of the first specific equine disease-free zone in our country, ensured the smooth holding of the 16th equastdan competition in Guangzhou Asian Games. 展开更多

Understanding the emission sources of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)is critical for air pollution mitigation.Continuous measurements of atmospheric VOCs were conducted from January to February in Hangzhou in 2021.The average measured concentration of total VOCs(TVOCs)was 38.2±20.9 ppb,>42% lower than that reported by previous studies at the urban center in Hangzhou. The VOC concentrations and proportions were similar between weekdays and weekends.During the long holidays of the Spring Festival in China, the concentrations of TVOCs were∼50% lower than those during the regular days, but their profiles showed no significant difference(p>0.05).Further,we deduced that aromatics and alkenes were the most crucial chemicals promoting the formation of O3 and secondary organic aerosol(SOA)in Hangzhou.According to interspecies correlations, combustion processes and solvent use were inferred as major VOC emission sources. This study provides implications for air quality improvements before and during the upcoming Asian Games that will be hosted in Hangzhou in 2022. 展开更多

Only one Chinese athlete, wearing the No. 4 helmet, made it to the finals of the women’s short distant speed skating at the Third Asian Winter Games (TAWG). She was surrounded by one Japanese and four South Korean athletes, including some who had set world and Asian records. Almost no one believed that the Chinese woman could win. However, at least one person believed that she could—Yang Yang herself. In a short two minutes, she displayed her brilliance, overshadowing those world and Asian record holders. One day later, she joined her teammates in setting a new world record in the 3,000-meter relay race. Yang Yang emerged as a new star in the winter games. 展开更多

By establishing grey dynamic model and adopting its method, this essay makes forecast and comparison on the developing trend in track and field sports of Asia and the world. To higher the model’s precise, some sequential data are processed by slide mean value, a Maclourin Exponsion is made to some exponents of less adaptable response function and acceptance or rejection is made according to the fitting mode of the number series and their development. In the quatitative analysis, the first locus of the developing coefficient of the model in the sports field is the main basis. The analysis indicates that women’s and men’s field sports in Asia are developing respectively much faster, a little faster than that of the world, but men’s track sports in Asia are progressing paralled to that of the world, and women’s track in Asia remains behind. 展开更多

In the summers of 1998 and 1999, Chinese and Japanese scientists cooperatively conducted the first large-scale energy and water cycle experiment(WCRP/GEWEX/GAME/HUBEX: World Climate Research Program/Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment/Asian Monsoon Experiment/Huaihe River Basin Energy and Water Cycle Experiment) in the Huaihe River basin, Anhui Province of China. The main objective of this field experiment(HUBEX)was to investigate the multiple-scale structure characteristics, life cycles, and genesis and development mechanisms of the Meiyu system in East Asia as well as the cause of related flooding disasters. It was a joint China-Japan cooperative meteorological and hydrological observation experiment. On the basis of intensive observations, scientists from the two countries conducted follow-up investigations through collating and compiling data and performing scientific analysis during the following five years. It can be concluded that the HUBEX project has yielded comprehensive and remarkable achievements. This paper introduces the major scientific results derived from this field experiment and the ensuing investigations, and reassesses their merits and shortages for the purpose of providing useful experience and proposing new research targets as well as prospects for the initiation of a new joint scientific Meiyu experiment in the middle and lower Yangtze River basin. 展开更多
