The discrete element method(DEM)is a capable tool used to simulate shear wave propagation in granular assemblies for many years.Researchers have studied assembly shapes such as rectangles(in 2D simulations)or cylinders and cubes(in 3D simulations).This paper aimed to qualify the effect of assembly shape on the shear wave propagation and maximum amplification in the vertical plane(horizontal and vertical directions)caused by this propagation.To this end,shear wave propagations in different assembly shapes such as rectangle,trapezium,and triangle with rigid boundary conditions were simulated.A sine wave pulse was applied with a point source by moving a particle as the transmitter particle.To evaluate the shear wave velocity of the assemblies,the transmitter and receiver particles were simulated.All the simulations were performed with 2D DEM which is a useful tool to determine the amount and location of the maximum amplification factor of the assembly in both horizontal and vertical directions.An advantage of this study was assessing the effect of parameters such as input wave frequency,assembly height,shape,and aspect ratios on the amplification of the input waves. 展开更多

In the past decade,boron neutron capture therapy utilizing an accelerator-based neutron source(ABNS)designed primarily for producing epithermal neutrons has been implemented in the treatment of brain tumors and other cancers.The specifications for designing an epithermal beam are primarily based on the IAEA-TECODC-1223 report,issued in 2001 for reactor neutron sources.Based on this report,the latest perspectives and clinical requirements,we designed an ABNS capable of adjusting the average neutron beam energy.The design was based on a 2.8 MeV,20 mA proton beam bombarding a lithium target to produce neutrons that were subsequently moderated and tuned through a tunable beam shaping assembly(BSA)which can modify the thicknesses and materials of the coin-shaped moderators,back reflectors,filters,and collimators.The simulation results demonstrated that epithermal neutron beams for deep seated tumor treatment,which were generated by utilizing magnesium fluoride with lengths ranging between 28 and 36 cm as the moderator,possessed a treatment depth of 5.6 cm although the neutron flux peak shifts from 4.5 to 1.0 keV.When utilizing a thinner moderator,a less accelerated beam power can meet the treatment requirements.However,higher powers reduced the treatment time.In contrast,employing a thick moderator can reduce the skin dose.In scenarios that required relatively low energy neutron beams,the removal of the thermal neutron filter can raise the thermal neutron flux at the beam port.And the depth of the dose rate peak could be adjusted between 0.25 and 2.20 cm by combining magnesium fluoride and polyethylene coins of different thicknesses.Hence,this device has a better adaptability for the treatment of superficial tumors.Overall,the tunable BSA provides greater flexibility for clinical treatment than common BSA designs that can only adjust the port size. 展开更多

The self-assembly of diblock copolymers confined around one square-shaped particle is studied systematically within two-dimensional self-consistent field theory(SCFT).In this model,we assume that the thin block copolymer film is confined in the vicinity of a square-shaped particle by a homopolymer melt,which is equivalent to the poor solvents.Multiple sequences of square-shaped particle-induced copolymer aggregates with different shapes and self-assembled internal morphologies are predicted as functions of the particle size,the structural portion of the copolymer,and the volume fraction of the copolymer.A rich variety of aggregates are found with complex internal self-assembled morphologies including complex structures of the vesicle,with one or several inverted micelle surrounded by the outer monolayer with the particle confined in the core.These results demonstrate that the assemblies of diblock copolymers formed around the square-shaped particle in poor solvents are of immediate interest to the assembly of copolymer and the morphology of biomembrane in the confined environment,as well as to the transitions of vesicles to micelles. 展开更多

The simulation of 295/80R22. 5 tire building process from tire building to curing was developed using ABAQUS software,which covered four stages: gluing of components on main drum,gluing of components on auxiliary drum,building process of green tire and shaping process of green tire. Results showed that material distribution of the simulated structure had good consistence with the real tire structure. Therefore,the tire building process simulation can be used to judge the rationality of tire construction design and to determine the shapes of different tire components. In order to optimize the construction design,a reverse simulation method was proposed to design the semi-product components such as apex,tread,and shoulder pad. The semi-product components determined by utilizing the reverse simulation method were assembled again into a tire. Results show that the simulated material distribution is consistent with the material distribution of design tire,which proves effectiveness and reliability of the reverse simulation method. 展开更多

PuzzleNet:Boundary-Aware Feature Matching for Non-Overlapping 3D Point Clouds Assembly

We address the 3D shape assembly of multiple geometric pieces without overlaps, a scenario often encountered in 3D shape design, field archeology, and robotics. Existing methods depend on strong assumptions on the number of shape pieces and coherent geometry or semantics of shape pieces. Despite raising attention to 3D registration with complex or low overlapping patterns, few methods consider shape assembly with rare overlaps. To address this problem, we present a novel framework inspired by solving puzzles, named PuzzleNet, which conducts multi-task learning by leveraging both 3D alignment and boundary information. Specifically, we design an end-to-end neural network based on a point cloud transformer with two-way branches for estimating rigid transformation and predicting boundaries simultaneously. The framework is then naturally extended to reassemble multiple pieces into a full shape by using an iterative greedy approach based on the distance between each pair of candidate-matched pieces. To train and evaluate PuzzleNet, we construct two datasets, named ModelPuzzle and DublinPuzzle, based on a real-world urban scan dataset (DublinCity) and a synthetic CAD dataset (ModelNet40) respectively. Experiments demonstrate our effectiveness in solving 3D shape assembly for multiple pieces with arbitrary geometry and inconsistent semantics. Our method surpasses state-of-the-art algorithms by more than 10 times in rotation metrics and four times in translation metrics. 展开更多

Neutron beam optimization for accelerator-based Boron Neutron Capture Therapy(BNCT) is investigated using a ^7Li(p,n)^7Be reaction. Design and optimization have been carried out for the target, cooling system,moderator, filter, reflector, and collimator to achieve a high flux of epithermal neutron and satisfy the IAEA criteria.Also, the performance of the designed beam in tissue is assessed by using a simulated Snyder head phantom. The results show that the optimization of the collimator and reflector is critical to finding the best neutron beam based on the ^7Li(p,n)^7Be reaction. Our designed beam has 2.49×109n/cm^2 s epithermal neutron flux and is suitable for BNCT of deep-seated brain tumors. 展开更多

The influence of ionic surfactants,cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB),self-assembled within silica-nanochannels of a hybrid mesoporous silica membrane(HMSM) on simple ion transfer(IT)behaviors at the meso-water/1,2-dichloroethane(W/DCE) interface arrays supported by such a HMSM was investigated by voltammetry for the first time.Significantly,it is found that the CTAB in HMSM can dramatically enhance the peak-current responses corresponding to ITs of some anions and even lower their Gibbs transfer energies from W to DCE,which could be ascribed to an anion-exchange process between anions and the bromide of CTAB associated with partial ion-dehydration induced by the CTAB.This work will provide a new strategy to study anion transfer processes and improve the electroanalytical performance for anion detection at the liquid/liquid interface. 展开更多
