Four groups of animals were used for each model.They were administered 2%gum acacia(orally),alcoholic extract of Abroma augusta(orally),dexamethasone(intramuscularly) and combination of Abroma augusta(orally) with dexamethasone(intramuscularly) respectively.The parameters studied included breaking strength of incision wound,period of epithelization and wound contraction rate in the excision wound,breaking strength,dry weight and hydroxyproline content of granulation tissue in dead space wound.Results:The breaking strength of incision wound of Abroma augusta treated group was significantly increased(P <0.001 ) while that of dexamethasone treated animals was significantly decreased(P<0.001) as compared to control. Coadministration of dexamethasone and Abroma augusta significantly reversed the dexamethasone suppressed wound healing in incision wound model(P< 0.001 ).Animals treated with both dexamethasone and Abroma augusta also showed significant(P <0.004) increase in the breaking strength of granulation tissue in the dead space wound and a significant(P <0.011) reduction in the period of epithelization in the excision wound as compared to rats treated with dexamethasone alone.The rate of wound contraction was not significantly altered in any of the groups.Conclusion:The alcoholic extract of Abroma augusta was found to reverse dexamethasone suppressed wound healing.展开更多

These symptoms may become more ser...<strong>Background: </strong>Coronavirus disease 2019 which is officially known as COVID-19 belongs to family viruses. COVID-19 manifestations vary among affected people. These symptoms may become more serious among patients suffering from chronic disease and those who are on treatment which may af-fect their defense mechanism or immune-compromised patients who become more vulnerable to complications of COVID-19, and at high risk for morbidity and mortality with any bacterial or viral illness. <strong>Method: </strong>A retrospective, non-experimental research design was applied with a quantitative approach among patients with COVID-19 who were admitted to COVID-19 department at AVH with a total of 72 patients. Data were extracted from a patients’ elec-tronic medical record. <strong>Results:</strong> During COVID-19 outbreak 72 patients were admitted to COVID department at AVH, 54.2% were female and 33% of study participants were from Gaza governorate followed by Jerusalem 27%. Most participants 34.7% had first clinic visit after two days from the onset of COVID-19 symptoms. 45.8% were discharged to home while 13.9% died. All inflammatory markers that include ferritin, C-RP, IL-6 and D-dimer are in-creasing in all patients that were admitted to hospital;IL-6 and D-dimer were significant inflammatory markers in relation to the mortality rate. The study found the risk of mortality with IL-6 mean (218.5), and D-dimer mean (12). Furthermore there was a relation between increased risk of mortality and im-mune comprised. <strong>Conclusion:</strong> Mortality rate increased among COVID-19 pa-tients when IL-6 was higher than 218.5 and D-dimer higher than 12, and there was a relationship between increased risk of mortality and immune comprised.展开更多
Augusta Savage’s“Lift Every Voice and Sing”is discussed as a composite work showing influences from ancient Egyptian musical instruments,surrealism,August Rodin,and ancient Egyptian funerary and devotional sculptur...Augusta Savage’s“Lift Every Voice and Sing”is discussed as a composite work showing influences from ancient Egyptian musical instruments,surrealism,August Rodin,and ancient Egyptian funerary and devotional sculpture.The sculpture is a significant departure from the social realist sculpture of the New Deal era.“Objective”artworks like Savage’s sculpture have been overwritten by inadequate investigations.Savage approximates the shape of Rodin’s hand and arm in the sound board of her harp.A comparison of Savage’s sculpture with a concert harp shows that the kneeling figure(the foot pedal)is at the wrong end of the harp.In“objective”art mistakes are meaningful,while in“subjective”art mistakes have no useful status.The mistaken position of the kneeling figure at the front of Savage’s magical harp establishes it as the most significant aspect of the esoteric symbolism of Savage’s sculpture.Savage’s sculpture implicates A.R.Orage's esoteric intervention in history.展开更多
The Middle Triassic records the return of diverse marine communities after the severe effects of the end-Permian mass extinction.This diversification leads to the Mesozoic/modern adaptive radiation resulting in substa...The Middle Triassic records the return of diverse marine communities after the severe effects of the end-Permian mass extinction.This diversification leads to the Mesozoic/modern adaptive radiation resulting in substantial changes in marine communities in comparison to their Paleozoic predecessors.This analysis focuses on the faunal abundance,ecological patterns,and environmental interpretation of a Middle Triassic section in Central Nevada.Twelve bulk samples were collected.Visible fossils were identified and tallied from hand samples and thin-sections were used to aid in environmental interpretation.Beginning in the Late Anisian,we observed an ammonoid dominated to flat-clam,epifaunal dominated benthic community within a muddy,quiet,inner shelf depositional environment.Through time,epifaunal bivalves dominate within a middle shelf environment followed by an increase in infaunalization and shell-thickness.During this time the presence of oncoids and the reported finding of corals suggest the middle shelf environment gave way to a higher energy patch reef shelf edge environment.Finally,we observe epifaunal brachiopods communities at the top of our section deposited in a middle shelf environment.In sum,we observe the dominance of modern taxa(i.e.,bivalves)with Paleozoic ecologies(i.e.,epifaunal),followed by the dominance of modern taxa with Modern ecologies(i.e.,infaunal,thick shells)and then a return to Paleozoic taxa(i.e.,brachiopods)and Paleozoic ecologies within an overall transgressive environment.展开更多
