It is critical to understand the drivers of fertilizer use in order to increase fertilizer use efficiency(FUE). The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between farm size and FUE based on farm-level data in China. The results suggest a positive farm size–FUE relationship. The estimated elasticities of farm size for rice, maize, wheat–maize, and rice–maize are similar, and the average elasticity of farm size is around 0.2. Statistically, a 1% increase in farm size is associated with a 0.2%increase in FUE. The positive effect of farm size on FUE is not due to the increase in yield, but the reduction in fertilizer use while keeping yield largely unchanged. The findings suggest that promoting the expansion of farm size may increase FUE, and thus reduce environmental pollution caused by fertilizer overuse.展开更多
In view of the development problems of village banks,through introducing the concept of private relationship lending,the functions of soft information,the channels of village banks for collecting soft information,and ...In view of the development problems of village banks,through introducing the concept of private relationship lending,the functions of soft information,the channels of village banks for collecting soft information,and the private relationship lending of village banks under Chinese rural human environment of highlighting relationship while despising rationality are proved.According to the recognition standard of core competitive edge,it can be concluded that the core competitive edge of village banks is private relationship lending.In the first place,these kinds of small and medium-sized quarter banks have competitive advantages in launching private relationship lending;in the second place,the lending businesses of village banks based on soft information attracts small and medium clients;in the third place,the private relationship lending has realized the scale economy.Furthermore,the reasons why village banks can not display the core competitive edge have been analyzed:firstly,village banks have not found that private relationship lending is their core competitive edge;secondly,the internal motivation on establishing private relationship lending of village banks is insufficient;thirdly,village banks have not prepared well in developing private relationship lending;The relevant policies and countermeasures are put forward,including transforming idea and vigorously developing private relationship lending;intensifying training and improving the quality of personnel involved;strengthening supervision and avoiding the violation behaviors of personnel involved;emulating experiences and perfecting the private relationship lending mechanism of village banks.展开更多
An experiment was conducted to investigate the prevalence of the red mite (Dermanyssus gallinae) in layer farms in four districts of northern West Bank, Palestine. The four districts were: Nablus, Tulkarm, Tubas, and ...An experiment was conducted to investigate the prevalence of the red mite (Dermanyssus gallinae) in layer farms in four districts of northern West Bank, Palestine. The four districts were: Nablus, Tulkarm, Tubas, and Jenin. A total of 225 layer farms were investigated for infection with the parasite during the period from September 2009 to August 2010. The highest prevalence of the red mite was observed in the district of Tulkarm (18.3%, 25.5%, 32.7% and 47.3%, for the districts of Nablus, Jenin, Tubas, and Tulkarm, respectively) which can be explained by the hot humid climate in the district and insufficient cleaning. Infection with the red mite was highest in summer (43.8%) and lowest in winter (12%). The high infection rates observed in this study reflect the poor management and housing conditions, characteristic of layer farms in the study region.展开更多

The contractual relationship of the dairy supply chain played a vital role in the dairy industry for development. The contractual relationship between the main dairy farming body and the dairy processing enterprise, as well as the impact of this contractual relationship on their cooperation in dairy supply chain were studied. Taking 366 dairy farming bodies in Heilongjiang Province as the main research objects, Likert scale was used to measure the factors affecting the contractual relationship and applied these factors to the correlation construction of dairy farming body and processing enterprise. Then, confirmatory factor analysis was used to collect data and made the conclusion that once dairy farming body perceived the opportunistic behavior and lacking of cooperation, the trust of dairy processing enterprise would be lost. Additionally, the satisfaction of dairy farming body on partnership also had a positive effect on the level of trust and commitment, the relative dependence and the perception of the partnerships, which made it possible to analyze how to strengthen the contractual relationship and provide theoretical basis for dairy industry development in Heilongjiang Province.展开更多

The job piece to be welded is placed in close prox...In Electromagnetic Welding (EMW) process, the capacitive energy is the source of input energy. The tool that is used for welding comprises of an electromagnetic coil. The job piece to be welded is placed in close proximity with the coil. The welding is achieved by impact, when the colliding job pieces are accelerated towards each other by the Lorentz force. The electromagnetic and mechanical properties/ parameters of the equipment, tool and the job govern the overall welding process. We have described a procedure to calculate the capacitive input energies for jobs of different sizes. Data is given for welding of strips of aluminium, copper and S.S. in similar and dissimilar combinations. Since the EMW technique is used in limited applications, this type of data is not available. We have validated our model with some data available in the literature. It is hoped that, this information will help the designer, to select and standardize the system and process parameters.展开更多
